Ok got a proper b rod together and these are my thoughts, it stinks! The restriction from the balls isn't as good as the carb cap. And maybe it was bad luck but I seemed to only have poor airflow on half the bowl?!? Because every time I hit it when I'd remove the heater everything was mounded up on one side of the bowl? All my hits were whispy without the cap! Maybe if I shake and shimmy I might randomly knock the balls into a better position with more even heating but frankly when I used the 4,mm balls I got better results and that still wasn't very good either. I even managed to spill a couple hot balls :disgust: :cuss::rant:I'm sure with a little tweaking I might improve to mediocre  but at my temp I saw no improvement with the balls to density or longevity to my hits, with or without cap! I didn't like it, the e elev8r is the superior ball vape vs the b rod

Edit keep her stock gentleman!
Yeah it's more trouble than it's worth. I never got it to perform decently. Someone on the CH discord suggested putting a screen over the diffuser so the balls wouldn't settle in the holes, which I tried, but then I couldn't fully close the head. Maybe a screen + 2mm balls would work better?

I would think that there would have to be some sort of diminishing returns for any real heat off the balls once you go to small in a single layer. The 4mm balls had better airflow and with the carb cap the hit was almost normal despite not being able to fully closed both halves of the heater. But any time I tried to hit it harder for the vape to hit harder only gave whispy vapour? I had no intention to set my temp as high as troy, way to high for me! I think I'm done experimenting with this one 🤔 I love my stock VRod and carb cap, excellent performance! Settle on whatever temperature you like and you will get consist results, the only thing about the balls is they don't seem to do much other than mess with the function of the vape?

I think the main problem is to many of the air holes in the diffuser are blocked so any potential heat calories are lost where there is no airflow. Maybe if the screen worked but if it doesn’t feel like it wants to close I would not force the balls.

carb cap for me with my new iDB handle

Thabk you for the plug brother. Glad to see it made it safely. Looks gorgeous with your station. Oh and the I’ve tried the b-rod and didn’t notice any difference. I’d imagine you would get better results from making packing screens or mesh in there may have to try some science when I break my FP out again

My quartz halo was dirty :( I slightly scorched my dab last time I was playing with boost mode:mad: spent last night soaking with dark crystal and baking soda but it was not fully clean:cuss: could have soaked it again and maybe again but thought I’d take a riskier approach? Put the quartz on the VRod and heat soaked at 570, then I went a microwaved some dark crystal and brought it back to my vape station. Did a big dab and left a mess, then I dipped a qtip in the hot dc and swabbed the dish till the qtip stoped hissing then did the same thing again and turned off the VRod, 100% clean but I still took it off and scrubbed it with a iso qtip then water and baking soda.

just did another dab and hit it slowly so the 4mm rubies don’t mess up the cap to much, got so much vapour on that first hit the second clean up hit was a joke lol 😆

Have you heard about the boom on Mizar 5?
On my quartz or sic if it's not super caked on, I'll take a q-tip and distilled water and use that to swab down the quartz while its heated somewhere between 265-280 on my pid. I find the water gets alot of the stuff off as it boils, you don't need to worry about thermal shock as much but the steam can get a bit hot on your fingers. I normally only bother with fancier cleaning methods like simple green or baking soda with my gemstones.

Maybe 😼 one day I'll grab a sapphire dish but I'm still just learning and there's the possibility it would be wasted on my unrefined pallet 😅 also I'm cheap LoL though I do see improvement in flavor quartz Halo vs sic I'm not rushing out the door for gemstone and that hefty price tag 🤑

Had my VRod a while now and I still love it 🥰 more than my weedeater but I really like having the two of them for temp stepping so no plans on selling the weedeater basically 😜 the VRod is just so nice and the right choice for the kind/amount of dabbing I want, a dedicated concentrate vape would be overkill for me and I still think the VRod is a high end just not the highest end dabbing device but I don't think I can be more pleased with my VRod!

I love "Steve" and I love my VROD. I am just worried "Steve" might have issues in other areas of his life too. Do you think he burns himself every time he makes cereal?

Steve!!!! Where are you!?!?

Hey all, i've personally been getting very promising results with the BROD mod using 15 3mm Ruby pearls, capping at 710F, with a fast draw speed. I know this is a very high temp for most, but may be worth experimenting with for those who have the pearls and a cap!

Taking all of the above into account though, I still get very thick vapour at 666F capped with no terp pearls, so each to their own and the pearls are certainly not necessary and to some may seem slighly excessive.

Early morning session with the VRod, quartz Halo, 2 ruby terp pearls, 600 PID, 2×normal dab.............🥴😋🤬🤬🤬🥰❤️❤️❤️😁 Have I mentioned lately how much I love my VRod! And it's totally a upgrade from the Weedeater but I still like it a lot just not as much as the VRod 🤫😉😁

VROD 4 lyfe.

They need to offer multiple hole carb caps again. The single hole is just too much restriction. I'd never use mine again. Seems to be one of these things they are very opinionated about, like not selling quartz dishes anymore. The removal of products because "we know best" is really the only peeve I have with them. We have to acknowledge the negative (IMO, at least) just as much as the positive.

I think my multi-hole will last the rest of my life barring being dropped in a volcano, thankfully!

Also, I wish they would do more research into "Discord" before pushing it so hard. I don't think they realize what they're dealing with. They'll have a competitor or disgruntled customer report the server, as their extremely gray ToS says discussing drugs or anything illegal is against it. The even bigger issue is that "Discord" is also saving all public/private messages/attachments and knows what programs you have open etc. This is all stored and sold for advertising purposes, and also forwarded to LEO when they deem appropriate.

I try to not use spyware (knowingly) :science:

SEARCH for the treasure...
Would you trust a power inverter in your car with your Auger, such as this one?

AUBER 300b SPECS:

Controller
Operating voltage: 110V/240V AC.
Maximum 5 Amp
Coil connection: XLR 5 Pin
Dimension: 3.5 x1.7 x 4.7 inch, (90 x 47 x 120 mm)
Power cord length: 5 ft

Most heater coils are 100 Watts, but there are some at 150 Watts too.
Seems the specs are close, but bear in mind, running any of these inexpensive converters near their “stated” capacities, they can get hot, and fail early.

I looked a bit closer at some of the power inverters on Amazon, and while they all love to advertise high amperage ratings, it usually only applies to the USB output. The A/C output is usually around 2.5 amps. This means that if the Auger PID gets current hungry, a power inverter won't cut it. I'm seeing why Cannabis Hardware sells a 12v PID for use in cars. The bummer is that their 12v PID isn't compatible with their usual coils, so at that point you're not just buying a new PID, you're also buying a new head assembly. It's possible a UPS could act as a safety net, but I'd have to see what the power draw looks like on the Auber before going with that route, and at that point the jank factor is pretty high. That all being said, it's very possible the Auber doesn't draw nearly as much power as I'm thinking when using the regular 100w coil, so maybe a basic power inverter would be fine. If anybody knows how to test current draw from the Auber I'd love to see what the spikes look like and how long they last.
