Yo, without reading every single post, can anyone tell me what the difference is between the OG & SS versions?

Afaik, it's some cosmetic refinements and a different weld for the heat plates that helps with cap placement. Haven't heard of any performance differences; I'm not sure there were those kinds of changes. The (SS) OG's fine, the SS is refined.

Thnx mang,

I bought the ti units when they had the 2fer end of year deal. I have way too many DV bodies s
around, so was thinking of buying a few more tips.

There was a learning curve, mostly zoning out waiting for the click that never happens & combusting. But dialed in it offers enough of a difference that Id like to get a few more.

The SS tips are nice for outside, too, because they hold the heat a little longer. I like them as much as the Ti, I think, and they bring something a little different.

Hi, anybody have any ideas on screen replacement? Trying to purchase but can't find any
Someone mentioned just using stock bowl screens a few pages back. I don't see why that wouldn't work.

Also if you don't mind me asking, why are you replacing it?

Im a longtime DV user & actually appreciate the ability to clean this device ove the DV products...especially the screens in situ (ETOH soak and boiling H2O does the trick). But do wonder how long before I wear thu it.

Yeah, I def can see how that would be a huge plus. & w no cap click there's no point in the heating/ cooling cycles AFAIK. Im also 99.9% an IH user, so I don't think that Id reap the added benefits of Ti anyway.

I actually prefer them to my DVs. They're not the highly machined artwork that DV produces, but they're definately different, functional. For what Ive paid for so far it has been a good value.

For reference, my Helix tip and its low budget alternative, the perforated DV caps are a very close 2nds in comparison.

Happy one year anniversary Camouflet!

A massive thank you to everyone who's supported Camouflet on this enduring quest. We've already made many great friends along the journey and we look forward to what the future holds. We are eternally grateful for everyone's support and contributions. Thank you!

We'd like to share this excellent review & tutorial video of the Camouflet Convector produced by our friend in Germany, Kraut Cloud! The video is in German (with English subtitles) for all our Deutsch speaking FC community members. Danke Kraut Cloud!

Yea happy anniversary you are a real innovator in this space imo, each device has been fairly unique compared to most.

Im still planning on getting an inductor when i get my life back together.

My convector is still one of my favs

I got a factory second Titanium Convector a few days ago. I was intrigued by the cap design and simplicity.

I agree with all the feedback here. My main issue is with the heating. If using a torch there is a learning curve and once you get it you need to be able to repeat it without thinking too much. I like the Inductor but feel like it is over priced. I almost feel compelled to get the YLL 2.0 IH to heat the Convector?

i use the yll 2.0 with the stainless convector and it works great

Feel like I’m winnin’ when I’m losin’ again

This little guy is rewarding to learn! Very easy to overdo it and combust, but once you find a ritual that works it delivers a lot of power in a very small package! I’m waiting for my lighter head and cable (coming with my Zooter!), my current ritual has been very low single flame torch right at the end of the cap until it’s glowing, then let it cool for a 10-12 count and inhale. I’m catching it in the lower temps and getting great flavor, and a surprising amount of pulls per bowl.

It’s also getting a handsome patina on the cap, and it seems to me the perfect backpacking vape for any of you minimalist campers. It weighs nothing, and you could heat it on your stove with morning coffee and supper!

Having recently shelved ‘all’ of my flower devices for Tempest, the fact I’m enjoying learning the Convector says a lot IMHO. Looking forward to what’s yet to come from Camouflet, both literally with an XL and Zooter heading my way, and figuratively as they continue to tinker!

ETA: Almost forgot another big plus in my ritual; I am somewhat hard of hearing (punk rock/heavy metal/artillery), and also prefer lower lighting. With other butane vapes hearing the click or watching an indicator is usually something I need to prepare for, but I can see a glowy cap perfect almost anywhere in my place!

Actually the convector and the tempest are a great combo, one is super fast for one/two hits and the other retains the heat very well and gives you a lot of top hits

Im testing the Ti convector. It is lighter, has better flavour, it heat up quicker and the finish of the stem is much, much better feeling

The YLLIH looks like the poor man's hot setup. If I could produce results like that consistently I would be a happy camper!

Now since more members have experience with the Convectors are there any hot setup methods for cleaning? I am sensing a more restrictive airflow and there is nothing inside the condenser so the cap seems to be the culprit. I have a number of Dynavaps and have gotten used to cleaning them. But, there is a big difference with the caps. I have the updated titanium where the screens are welded in. What is the best approach to clean the Conductor cap screens to restore to original airflow? I have tried heating empty in an effort to burn out an debris but I still don't feel I have original air flow. Any new tips appreciated.

Convector easy clean method for all components, together or individually.
-Disassemble the Convector.
-Remove ceramic tube orings from ceramic.
-Remove chamber orings if you prefer. We don't bother removing them as we only soak the chamber with them on for short periods of time.
-Add ISO and disassembled components into a glass vessel of your choosing. Glass jar with a sealing lid can be helpful to seal and swirl for faster cleaning results.
-Let components soak in ISO bath for 10-20mins.
-Remove components from ISO bath and rinse with hot water. If any residue remains after the hot water rinse, repeat ISO soak and hot water rinse.
-After rinsing in hot water, soak components in a hot water bath for 10-20mins.
-Remove components from the hot water bath and dry them with a paper towel for quick drying or let them air dry. You can heat the Camo cap to remove and residual water between the heater plates before first use after cleaning.
-Once dry reassemble components and you're ready to go.

@Camouflet …. What’s up with your website? The site is being flagged as being not safe and one browser flagging it as porn. Sometimes it’s fine but at this moment as I type it’s inaccessible.

Thanks for your post! I took it apart and my restriction point is the chamber screen. I can hold one end up to the light and see about 25% of the holes clogged. The holes in the screens in the cap are pretty clear.

Is the bottom screen in the tip welded in? I would prefer to not remove it.

I will follow the process you outlined and report back.
