Brilliant Cut Grinder

You could argue that some peoples' expectations are high.

... one could also argue some have put it on quite the pedestal and have done a lot to make that kind of impression.

It is not a bad grinder, but I am more under-impressed having read all your posts about it. Go back and read your stuff, what kind of expectation do you think you have set for others? I can appreciate that you love it, but you have inflated a lot of expectations.

Note, this is not a personal attack. Merely an observation.
It is obvious you also tend to get quite defensive when people post opposing views to yours... take my thoughts with a grain of salt and don't be offended.

I also agree that it has been hyped up pretty seriously. I mean if you read a lot of the early reports people were saying they could turn it with one finger, that it was so easy to use and hardly accumulated any residue. I have not found it to be that way.

A few things I think about this grinder;

- I'm okay with the price and I think this is probably the best grinder currently on the market.

- The grind is great - whichever plate you prefer.

- This grinder looks great. The design and colors are great.

- I think it accumulates less residue than other grinders but it does accumulate and I have had it do so to the point that I struggled to turn it.

- The plates take a while to accumulate residue but once it starts it tends to happen faster.

- I think this is a great product but I can't imagine that there will not be something better within a couple of years (perhaps from the same company).

- I need to clean it thoroughly about once a month.

Jam free grinder since day one. That's not hype.

Magnetic threadless design.. looks great, feels great, grind is the perfect consistancy (for me) using the fine plate for the pax3 and med plate for the herbalizer. I'm not selling my BCG anytime soon that's for sure. Worth every penny! I had 3 friends who picked one up after they got to try mine. we all had santa Cruz shredder mine was a 2 peice so I can't compare to the 3 or 4 peice versions. ScS is gunked shut and has been for some time.

Hey @Krazy,

I thought we had resolved this.

I sent you an email on July 2nd replying to your last email. I told you that you can just start using the set you have. We'll send you the new set when all the new parts are done and you can keep the one you already have.

We're sorry for all the trouble this has caused you.

Just a heads up for anyone in a situation where they feel like they are getting ignored and keep responding to an email thread. This is one of the easiest ways to trigger a spam filter. Your email will get flagged and automatically moved to a spam folder. I've seen this happen too many times with overly excited customers or customer complains that come into our email system.

That was me :) I turned mine with one finger with great results! I had only used the grinder three times when I posted that. So I wanted to make I wasn't talking out of my ass. This morning a grabbed a small nug .3-.4 pushed my plates together and proceeded to turn the grinder with just my thumb holding it in one hand. Can't say it was as easy as the first time but no thumb cramping. I guessing everyone will be different though. Im a few years shy of 40 with no hand issues. YMMV

So, if your post was in response to me, please show me where at all I set expectations for it staying immaculately clean with use or set the expectation that it would never need to be cleaned up from time to time with a brush or a bit of ISO.

I mention these two points as they are the only two I addressed.

I got a warning point for the above post; fair enough. I was semi aware I might be crossing a line when posting it but am at maybe 40% operational and it was my 3rd attempt at posting and self editing down to posting nothing, lol. Not an excuse; an explanation. Refer to underlined part of first sentence.

I did not receive an email on 2JUL, If I had I would not have posted the above and would have updated your fixing things here.

I did receive a copy of it on the 10th. Nothing in spam folder and it didn't get moved to trash. Please do take a look at the original email chain when you get a chance. Instructions to place a hold on order over a month before it shipped with no reply, repeated emails from me with no response, etc.. I'm happy to send you copies of all emails between us if that would help.

Anyhoo I am glad to have it resolved. And I truly am cool with getting it when ever colour runs are sorted.

I'm loving mine. My only complaint so far is that I want it to be bigger. The central post makes it difficult to use the scoop method I'd been using with my ELBs, and if it were a little bigger this wouldn't be an issue. Other than that, it's performed great on all plates and I'm very happy with it.

With small nugs I can turn it with one finger as well. The lack of resistance is mind blowing for me. Again with small nugs sometimes I can't even tell that I grinded anything because there is zero resistance.

The design of the grinding chamber probably accounts for most of this but I think the plastic washer that prevents the top plate and grinder plate from touching on the outer edge plays a part as well.

Hey @Grinders for Life how is work going on the XL version and/or the kief catch plate? I'm only looking at the former but I know there are some interested in the latter.

hahaha...because I'm the one who introduced the subject of unreasonable expectations, right?

Personally, I have no idea why anybody has an expectation that a grinder is supposed to stay immaculate after continual use or why an occasional (like every month...or six months) quick cleaning with a toothbrush and some ISO is such a chore.

Yet another Tower of Babel Internet misunderstanding! haha

I've put about 2Oz through mine so far, and the thing is still perfectly clean. I know it won't stay that way forever, but I mean, I haven't even had to shake the thing. I twist a few times and all the material falls to the bottom instantly. I don't know if there are better grinders on the market, but it doesn't matter to me. This is my endgame grinder.

I don't get why people are upset that their grinder isn't magic?

I am sorry if you really thought the thing was going to stop your hair loss, or get you a new job but it's just a grinder.

The only person you are fooling is yourself if you think it is not a top-tier grinder. We all want to see innovation and cool stuff - they are clearly taking considerations and have stated they are looking into making 4 pieces, and bigger sized grinders.

It serves no purpose to anyone really to come into the thread with an inflammatory attitude. Constructive criticism is fine if it's actually constructive...

I pay for all of my things and I don't really have a problem with the price I paid for the BCG - you are either looking at the full kit price, and complaining... or you are not looking at the price of other grinders if you think it is overpriced.

Any grinder is going to require some degree of maintenance, I just don't think it's very high for this particular grinder due to how it works. The performance doesn't REALLY degrade with buildup, but it is slightly noticeable.

I will also attest to being able to turn it with one finger.

I am just curious what people consider "cleaning" though? Like, I am not really trying to iso soak/dishwasher my grinder at all, but I have no issues with taking about 2minutes to brush it out, every other month (especially if it results in me getting what's essentially the BCG version of kief)

I'm a new ghost mv1 owner, I also just picked up a dynavap vapcap "M" 2019. I'm using a cheapie grinder right now, which brilliant cut grinder should l get, coarse, medium, or fine?

I use the fine but the medium works also...

Good lord why is everyone complaiming about someone else "complaining" about "magic" when all the user said was that they had to clean it as often as their other grinders (despite BCG's site claiming to essentially require less cleaning). That's all that literally was said. How someone (let alone so many of you) take that to mean they expected magic or delusional with unrealistic expectations is beyond me =/

True fan boys in this thread

Anyway I ordered mine 2 weeks ago, fine plate for a VapCap. Every day I'm checking the mail

I actually find the fine plate so versatile I can't imagine needing another one... If I grind with it normally the results are not that fine for me with most buds honestly
