Depends on how sticky your bud is. This was taken a few days ago and I cleaned it a few days before that.

Oh yeah I definitely get a nice wall of kief after each grind, I use a toothpick to scratch it back down in with the rest of the load, and I also use my finger to brush it out. There's still a fine layer of keif lining the whole thing now, but I just focus on brushing those sides of the lid to keep it turning smooth since I'm lazy and will wait until I do a full clean... Since its a real three piece with a deep herb dish I guess it collects more than a four piece used as a three piece with the shallow dish, more surface area. The SLX did seemed to stay cleaner at first thanks to its coating if I recall, but then it collected all the same, and actually the last time I cleaned it and then began using it, seemed to dirty up quicker. Also of course the lid would lock up with SLX and SCS unlike BCG. So yeah, this is actually why I gave up on four pieces, not just to keep everything all together and make each bowl better instead of separating out some of the goodies, but also because even more keif gets lost and trapped going through a screen and a whole other piece. With this sticky plant so much gets lost on any surface and container, this grinder so far seems like one of the best for that concern imo (I had a GR8R too, briefly before selling it, bc it was functionally pretty awful to me)

Good lord why is everyone complaiming about someone else "complaining" about "magic" when all the user said was that they had to clean it as often as their other grinders (despite BCG's site claiming to essentially require less cleaning). That's all that literally was said. How someone (let alone so many of you) take that to mean they expected magic or delusional with unrealistic expectations is beyond me =/

Anyway I ordered mine 2 weeks ago, fine plate for a VapCap. Every day I'm checking the mail

So anyone that offers a rebuttal to your amazing arguments (which hold no water considering you've never seen the grinder beyond pictures, let alone used it) is a fanboy?

Y'know what... fuck no I'm not a fanboy and I don't know why you think you have the privilege to come in here and call me (and several other posters, I'm sure) one.

In fact, I was pretty fucking pissed when ordering this grinder. I was given several missed deadlines when I really was putting no pressure on GFL to ship my grinder - I just wanted an estimate. It was at least twice this happened. I was also salty because RIGHT AFTER I placed my order, GFL did a giveaway, AND offered a 10% sale. I missed both of these events and I didn't get my grinder until close to when most of the 420 orders shipped. I kept my mouth shut because it was handled professionally and PRIVATELY, but I won't stand for being called a "fanboy" because I am offering a logical rebuttal to a shit argument.

Edit:

Just in case it WASN'T clear somehow - the "magic" thing was a joke... based around the whole premise of it being COMPLETELY ILLOGICAL for someone to think that there would be a maintenance-free grinder.

Yes, you are going to have to brush it out occasionally - oh no, what a tragedy.

Of course you are going to get people passionate about a product in that very products' thread - the fact is, no one has pointed out some amazing flaw in the grinder... that's my very point.

I'm not a fanboy. I just hate clear misconceptions where people are not thinking logically.

I don't really think anything productive has come of people who don't own the grinder complaining how bad it is that it "needs" to be "cleaned"

friend, I don't care to argue about this with you at all, you obviously care a lot more about this minor cleaning thing than I do (or even the actual member who brought up the cleaning thing) (which is probably the most ironic thing out of this, lol!)

But I would like to point out I'm not the person who brought up the cleaning point, so I'm very confused why you're being so bashful towards me as someone who, as you pointed out, doesn't even own the grinder yet.

I was merely trying to defend their subjective point of view from a couple of people who seemed to have taken it in a very salty way for some reason. I didn't "complain" about needing to clean a grinder I don't own, but thanks for the kind words and your burning passion for a machined piece of metal. But perhaps it's not worth getting so distraught about it on a forum, to a stranger, over this metal/some person's opinion of a product you happen to own, too. We all have different experiences and thoughts and that's okay! Vape some! Cheers :)

I thought your post was valid, with the exception of the above sentence. Once you added this line, you fueled the fire & got the reply you got. You may not have even meant that line in a negative sense, but, unfortunately, in these parts, those words are usually meant negatively, thus they become fighting words.

Yup, once I reread next time I visited I told myself uh oh, that was really misplaced.. but then couldn't edit anymore. I'd ask a mod to remove it now but it's too late for that, damage's been done. Apologies for those I've offended

@muunch can you quote what part of the OP's cleaning post you felt wasn't fair? All I read was them giving a pretty well good review with the cleaning thing as their only neutral point (they only said they have to clean the grinder as often as other grinders they own, nothing more than that). Maybe we're talking about different people?

@3dfx-glide I'm not gonna lie dude, I did not need to rant at you like that lol. Sorry to you and everyone else for making you read that.

Everyone has different opinions and that's fine. I am just impressed there are people that feel underwhelmed. I feel that these people hyped up themselves because no one has really made unreasonable claims regarding the grinder (among other things) - I don't want to stoke the fire so I won't pick out quotes. It's not necessary imo

I do feel it requires less maintenance than other grinders I have used personally. My plan is to not actually iso soak it or anything ever. I brushed it once since I've owned it, I will no longer do so.

Will update with pics when I can. I am generally grinding around 1-2oz of herb per month, for reference.

It has maybe seen 3oz total and 1oz since I last brushed it.

still works just fine. I got an oz of massive hemp flower yesterday and have been just mulching it in here, barely picking out the stems and etc. It's obviously still quite fresh, and I like to think it, and the actual cannabis I vape isn't complete trash.

It would obviously benefit from being brushed out (and I would definitely benefit!! look at all that goodness!) but - it still works quite well. I pretty much have tried to abuse this thing with realistic, careless use and it seems fine still. I could post videos of me grinding buds if people would really like lol.

--- fwiw it was being called a fanboy, and the condescending "special" flower comment that really was the turning point of the conversation for me. I guess I should say something so I really don't look like a "fanboy."

People are allowed to voice their claims for sure. I'd love to hear more from the people that have used it that are not satisfied, or feel it is overpriced (not "overhyped") - I believe @FlyingLow presented his quips in a nice, factual manner.

Nothing is perfect. The BCG might be close, but I guess if it can't offer the grind type needed - well, that's it falling short in a critical way.

You do need to team up the right tools to get the experience right. And it's quite interesting that the fine grind isn't fine enough for something touted as being a Sublimator substitute... I'm making huge clouds daily, even with a coarse ground low-temp tasty rip, just with a tiny pen herb vape using minimal energy. Not a super-hot enail coil. Anyway, I digress.

The BCG is not the finest grind out there, it has never been said to be. It's results have been shown off in many a comparative photo.

The charm of the BCG is it's jam free turning, threadless desing, modularity/variable set-up, and it's material/quality.
It delivers in leaps and bounds on all fronts.

I pretty much have tried to abuse this thing with realistic, careless use and it seems fine still.
I have also done this, but kudos to you @muunch - I think you win

25646z5.jpg

6 months and too many ounces is what has been processed so far. The fine plate does gunk up the most, but it's probably had the most use. The medium gets its fair share, the coarse not so much.
Just look at the gasket on the lid, basically spotless, and a big part of why these things are so slick, even with resin on the grind plate.

My BCG is still smoother to use than a brand new SLX. My neighbours got one a couple of weeks back and I tried twisting it out of the box. I now have my old one returned and I'm not very inclined to use it. Probably like @Shit Snacks I'd just use the tray as a bowl for BCG ground.

The BCG is much nicer to use in so many ways, I simply want to use it that much more, it'll take me another little while and I'll again end up grinding with the SLX and then re-grinding it with the fine plate BCG, I know it. It's that much better. And I praised the shit out of the SLX, and might I add recommended a lot of happy owners to get one... with no complaints so far too.

Well, with the BCG, the magnets are much stronger, and I now love the size and ergonomics, the middle drill tip, the threadless design, and enjoy an ideal grind for my vape range (Sublimator, Grasshopper, Dynavap, StemPod, TUBOx, even my MFLB can have a crack at the fine grind).

The SLX would easily jam. And once I had to hand in a man card by asking a friend to open the herb chamber as the threads had bound... I had to copy his technique to untwist it a few times since.
blah

The BCG can be used with just one strong hand.

Another thing I wanted to say was that the 'The Grinder by United Machining', a 3pc Stainless Steel 316 design, that has the finer grind, looks very damn cool. An interesting take with the bow-tie teeth. Definitely need a bigger size.

One thing that struck me in comparison to the BCG was the idea of putting nugs into it. I love how I can just put a big nug anywhere in the BCG and destroy it in a few satisfying chunky twists. The drill tip is a good reason to be happy about not needing super fine grinds. I'm very happy with this thing.

If nothing else, expect it to easily bust up every nug you ever encounter with pure ease and no worries. There's no competition on that front.

Wow I clean mine way before it could look like that. Im too OCD and that much buildup would drive me mad.

I want to grab that plate in the first pic......and clean the HAIR and STEMS out of it ...at the least....lol

Yeah the hemp flower I got is quite fresh and I really haven't given a damn about trying to be clean or cautious with this grinder. I just throw stuff in there and mulch it.

This is why I'm pretty confident in saying it won't completely lock up. it's also not that much more difficult to turn with all the buildup. Can still be turned with one finger easily.

I want to grab my little brush and run over to brush out that grinder.

Does anyone know if shipping times have improved lately? I'm thinking about placing another order...

I ordered the 3rd of July so I'm just past the two week wait, I'm prepared to wait a while and brilliant cut are upfront about a 3-4 week wait to manufacture it. I'll post an update once mine ships.

That's fine. The site still said 3-4 weeks, I was just wondering if that was just from the 420 rush or if it was a standard warning. I'm fine with waiting. :)

Still waiting for June order so I doubt it's going faster. It's been about a month since my order.

So, I've had my BCG for a few weeks now and while I do like it a lot, I do have one complaint the I'd like to know if it is a common experience or if I'm doing something wrong.

I find that no matter how much I grind, there's always a bit of material that doesn't fully grind up. It's like there's a bunch of spots between teeth where grinding just doesnt occur. Since the remaining pieces are too big to go through the holes in my medium plate, I end up moving it around with a brush and regrinding a few times. Is this normal? I'm surprised I haven't seen it mentioned more if so.

As far as expectations, I'm coming from a Gr8tr V2 which always got everything through without much effort... assuming it was the first 1-3 grinds after it had been fully cleaned because it gunked up instantly. The BCG does a great job of staying un-gunked, but I'm honestly surprised it falls short on ease of grinding given the reviews I've read.
