BCG nails it in terms of minimal cleaning/getting stuck @gotbadvas.

People seem to dig the 3 piece design, but I guess I'd still like to see GFL to a four piece. I just still end up with lots of bits of kief that fell off my flower in the collection chamber that sticks to the side of the chamber and only comes out when I brush it free. Since I have to choose to use it anyway, might just as well be in a special chamber dedicated to kief if I want an extra special bowl or something!

I mean they did try to release a four piece... I don't see why that would be different though, with a special chamber, you're still going to have it all stuck to the sides, and more is going to get stuck in the screen... Yeah I just like keeping whatever I grinded, altogether all of it with all of itself ideally consistent

Because of the side teeth in the lid, it never gets stuck, never really needs to be cleaned, antilocking never jam design is my favorite aspect of the BCG! ahead of the lack of threading, durable quality, and pure beauty...

I put about 2lbs through my BCG and I needed to clean it because the medium plate was grinding like the fine plate. I could still turn it, just wasn't happy with the grind. Iso bath and rinse off, good as new. My factory second large comes tomorrow, that sweet 15% off sale.

I think I am going to get a factory second regular size. What size grind plate hmm... Mostly use FW7 and dynavaps but going to be getting a thermal accumulator and an UD SC3+ soon and expect them to take over for most of my usage. Thinking medium is the way to go.

Yeah medium will cover you, if you want to do a more consistent fine grind, you can just grind upside down at first, or for longer to get it finer as needed, very versatile indeed

I had an 88mm 4piece SpaceCase, a hammer and drift soon fixed the kief screen to turn it into a 3-piece with a huge catchment area. I finally gave that away to a friend not long ago along with all my other grinders.
Not sure if my LBCG is one or two years old without cleaning (I got it during a BF sale) so had at least 3 lbs thru it.

Lol yeah that would get the job done but I think this old SpaceCase is a relic at this point I think it's best I leave it be in it's original state. Still has other issues like all the damn kief that gets in the threads. If you ran 3 lbs through your LBCG in 2 years then I might never have to clean mine in this lifetime.

No one has the SS one yet, so no one can really give their opinion on that. I have 3 aluminum ones and they are fantastic. Hands down my favorite grinder.

Yeah but you never know someone might had a bad experience with the Alu (wear on the aluminium) even though I havent been able to find a single bad review or mention of wear as of yet. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

Was dead set on the large from the start, but when I saw that they had the SS you ofc start to wonder. Is SS better than the Alu, how come they're releasing an SS version when the Alu has gotten so good reviews. My mind started to wonder about durability of the Alu. Probably just need to vape and stop over thinking it

They are responding to the market. Only you can decide the debate over aluminum versus steel. Since I don’t see any chipping or flaking on my aluminum versions, it’s not a concern for me. If I didn’t have any grinders, and they offered a SS in LARGE, I’d buy that, but you may be waiting…. There are a few SS grinders, and there is a generic thread on FC, where they are discussed, but the feedback I’ve read, they are not yet able to compete with the BCG’s design. OLD SAYING: “Let your conscious be your guide”. Good luck!

When I last spoke with someone at GFL, they informed me the large SS should be available for preorder before the end of the year. We're getting close, it may be a little after. I have an order for the small SS, but may be canceling it for a large, I'm just waiting on it to be announced.

I'm way behind, but did they? I didn't realize that. I guess for me the appeal of the four piece is that because the kief is stuck in my grinder anyway it doesn't seem to me like I am keeping whatever I ground together. If the kief is in a separate section I can top a bowl with some whenever I want an especially potent one. With it in the same bowl I can't get at just the kief without emptying the flower from my grinder first. Its a small thing, but a little QOL thing for me. You can just do a bigger bowl to get more potency too, but kief always seems to send me to space in a different way.

Edit: @RAG there's a few old reddit posts of the center posts showing some wear on BCGs if you do some searching on the Vaporents subreddit. I guess in theory the SS ameliorates that.

They had a limited release (was it a prototype?) of the 4-piece last year was it, Idk exactly when, my memory isn't the greatest

It must not have sold well. It seems like the industry kinda moves in trends and most people are beyond the four piece. I get the desire to have your kief just mixed in with every bowl, so it makes sense. It’s just like I said it seems to stick to the sides anyway making that never happen in practice so it’s just a small qol improvement to me. Using the chamber on my old space case was a treat, and while cleaning that thing was a pita the kief I could scrape from it when I was a dankrupt kid was a life saver

Kinda what I felt when reading up on the BCG, seems like most people are putting it trough heavy use and there are very few that are writing anything about wear. But I guess a lot of that adds up to how you take care of it. If I like the ALU version I´ll probably end up ordering the SS version knowing myself. Yeah staying away from traditional grinders, have been using the XL grinder from storz-bickel, but have to exchange them every couple of months as they start chipping and leaving bits from the grinder in the herb. Not so yummy.

Yeah if I recall correctly it actually had some threading too haha maybe they will try again with a redesign but if it was not popular I don't know... Again, since you repeated yourself, I will too, I don't see how that is not an issue with keif in the bottom tray (it is still going to stick to that bottom tray, and get caught in the filter screen)... I don't find it too difficult to rub out any stuck kief from BCG, but it is also only more frequent if you are grinding more upside down, more fine, the more coarse you grind the less loose kief to lose... I think greater chance it sticking with the ground herbs mostly all together imo

I got my BCG in the middle of 2021 and have never cleaned it after my initial ISO soak. It’s awesome. Thought there were no grinders better than the SCS 3 piece until I got the BCG

Yeah I can see threading it on not being well-received.

It’s just like I said, I just like to be able to get at my kief without emptying my grinder. I usually grind in small amounts, so I’m happy just keeping it in my grinder until it’s empty—I don’t bother dumping it into an airtight container or something like that. I just can’t really scrape any kief off without emptying it, you know?

I guess I never had any problems with my space cases screen getting gunked up either, just the threads. It’s not something that has me seeking out another grinder really. Just having tried the 3pc and 4pc styles now I’m partial to the 4pc design.
