BAKx - bake all kinds

3migo

Is this a...what day is this?
I've been testing the BAK for the last few weeks and it's a very unique device that I think folks are really gonna dig.

I have many of the vapes people praise for flavor like the HLT, Toad, Herborizer, and Tetra P80, and I can easily say that I have never had a dry herb vape produce a hit like what the BAK produces. I didn't know flower could taste like that.

Looking forward to seeing more people get their hands on these!

C'est probablement plus de réponse que vous ne cherchiez, mais je blâme l'effet Bak pour cela.
Thanks brah 👍.
This detailed answer is much appreciated.
I will definitely try my luck to get one in February 😎.

Je ne savais pas que la fleur pouvait goûter ça.
I'm not a big vape specialist, but I think I've seen that only the Supreme V6 can vaporize nuggets directly!?
Of course this Lamart device works differently and better! Without chemical metal like aluminum.
The steam passage is all glass if I understood correctly? Can we use the BAK with or without a screen?

I loved my old TP80 for flavor, but my QXL far surpasses it on that.
So I can't wait to feel this flavor that this unground weed will offer!!!

I've been using the vape a whole lot during the beta period, and let me try to explain my thoughts on it without hyperbolizing too much.

First of all, let's look at mine. Because I think it's absolutely gorgeous:

I like to think of the BAK as a very controllable, electric vapocane. Once you get resistance dialed in to your particular unit/mod combo, there is 100% extraction with zero fear of combustion, no matter how long your session goes. It's not nearly as fiddly as other 510 attys. Extremely forgiving residual heat. It is a conduction-heavy hybrid heater that delivers VERY satisfying vapor. It's really hard to describe the quality of the vapor, native or through water, in comparison to anything else. It has a density and creaminess that I really enjoy, and I feel REALLY gets the most out of any product. 40s of preheat is pretty much all you need. You can do a whole session in about a minute top to tail if you're in a hurry.

It's perhaps not the pinnacle experience at any one material (although it's close with whole buds... man, do they taste incredible), but the fact that it is at least 90% (by my estimation) as good as any other device, and can do literally everything, makes it unique in my book. Like, I can travel with just this and be happy for all my flower and dab needs. It doesn't one-hit quite like a desktop but the 2- or 3-rip quick sessions I do on it get me higher with much better flavor than one-shotting a ball vape anyway. Native is a real treat.

It's a very different paradigm from anything we're used to. I find it the most exciting new vape in quite some time. You may call me biased, but not until you try it yourself! It's really dope...

Correct, to use grounds I have a mistvape basket screen in my 18 mm stem setup, my 14 mm stem setup just has the glass pinch for nugs (best with a bunch of little ones)

I loved my old TP80 for flavor, but my QXL far surpasses it on that.

This glass hybrid extraction with a whole nug can taste pretty great if it's good shit, but if pushing temps and roasting part that can taint of course so I ride mine quite low

Ok great, that's good to know all that 👍.

I forced myself to watch troy's video a few minutes ago just to see the BAK in action lol.
And he did his sessions at 220°. It's a bit too much I guess to keep a good flavor?
I think these two Lamart devices are not to be compared, because they are very different. But I never go over 190° with my TP80 if I wanted to keep a good flavor, to the detriment of big, denser clouds.

Let's face it. I am probably going to get this, as everything @funkyjunky produces is amazing.

But I really am a convection snob. I don't even like vapcaps because they have too much conduction. So might hold off until the dust settles and more reviews come in.

Is this really a differnt hit from most conduction vapes?

I would like to see whats under the hood to better understand the heater.

Regarding the conduction-heavy hybrid heater... YES. Quite different from every other conduction-heavy oven I've used (which are invariably metal or ceramic). The heater is a sealed glass tube with 12mm ID, and the stem is also a glass tube with 11mm OD. The all-glass, no screen (with whole buds) provides impeccable flavor. It's dense, like conduction, but tasty as hell, like convection. It's wild.

Under the hood: It's easy to clean but I haven't done it in a while lol.

Impressive!! This thing looks fun!

Is everyone using arctic fox? What 510 mods is everyone using?
I dont think anyone is using af actually, cause the autofire shutoff time is pretty short. I have been using it exclusively with dna, and it works like a charm. Keeps the temp perfectly steady, i havent gotten close to combustion at all.

Actually, I'm using Arctic Fox and it's working fine for my usage. 1 minute is usually enough with residual heat to get me through a small load or partial sesh on a large load. The carryover heat is so impressive, I often don't even realize my timer has ended.

I love that Ralph is branching out and exploring other oven tech from his usual convection based heaters. Looks like it can really move some vapour, personally I just dislike how it has to work with a Mod. If this worked without the use of a mod, man count me in right away.

I actually would like to see what the coil arrangement looks like.

So being conduction it is not that dissimilar from other conduction vapes, although it is a bit of a hybrid, and simple with the glass tube inside the glass tube... So the glass heater tube is heated from around the tube, not sure if I can share the details though it is stainless steel element... So you can pull in fresh air through the heat of the element and the glass for convection depending how quick, or you can let the heat build for more conduction slower... In that way, plus it being fully cleanable chamber and pathway (glass tubes and even stainless steel tubes possible), it actually is quite different from any other conduction vape in my experience and research (functions more like glass tube torch vape only battery powered temperature control capabilities though heat does climb)

Is everyone using arctic fox? What 510 mods is everyone using?

I would have presumed most people would be using Tubo like me, but yeah anything can work well really, a lot of people are using the predator mod if not DNA, I however prefer swapping single batteries even if it is more frequent, along with the lighter weight for the mod... Another thing to keep in mind, BAK gets very hot, so a lot of non-predator mods have hit the too hot warning, that happened to me right away when I tried to use it directly on my evic vtwo mini, hence the steel heat sink you can see in my photos, those are necessary for most mods, even if you are using an extension cable possibly probably (I have not yet tried my cable with BAK, keep in mind it will add to the resistance value for accurate TCR)

I just dislike how it has to work with a Mod. If this worked without the use of a mod, man count me in right away.

Yeah the original plan was to release more of an all-in-one BAK someday like the initial alpha prototype, however this beta test BAKx were so enjoyed by the team that we pushed Ralph to release it to the public as is for now too! So keep an eye on the project

Well if this plan ever comes to fruition, I (and probably a few others) would be super stoked.

Ps. Holy cow, what the hell is going on with Reddit… That’s pack mentality if I’ve ever seen it, and the beta testers don’t deserve that kind of treatment. Crazy business.

Hadta laugh, I saw one exchange where the guy seemed really put off that it wasn't a plastic consumer vape and could not accept that it was ok to make/want/buy a handmade vape. 🤷‍♂️

The vaping community is strange, and I feel for @funkyjunky, as hype drives sales (VAS). If I ran Lamart, I'd follow a similar strategy and share my new products with influential community members to provide initial reviews to get sales started. The frustration lies in the fact that there aren't better disclaimers around the compensation provided for the beta testers' reviews (e.g., free test units), which leads to a lack of trust and certainty about whether the reviews are honest.

That said, as soon as more people get their hands on the BAKx, we'll know if it's as good as the beta testers say. When people have to spend their hard-earned money, they tend not to sugarcoat if they like something or not.

Idk if @Improvaper gor one for free but, even if he did, nobody else in the beta group did, we all had to pay for them. We were also not at all asked to make videos or reviews in exchange for the device, we are just doing that cause its fun and we figured people would be interested. This conspiracy thing is way overblown.

but if you give the bak to people without tetra p80 already, they can't appriciate the restriced air flow now, for diversity purposes.....

i think when people use their tetra p80 a lot, you need that restricted hits sometimes. and if it supports full nugs and hash is cool too, more hash per battery or so...

with hash usage at the tetra p80 you will need to replace batteries often

You can disagree, but I think it was laid out well in one of the drama threads: people come to places like Reddit or fc to get opinions from fellow enthusiasts as opposed to someone like Troy who (and in fairness he is upfront about this) make money off of their content and reach.

It’s hard to take that premise seriously when the same handful of people get early access and discounts to new devices—especially from a place as tough to acquired them from as Lamart—and their posts are only extremely positive. In the view of a lot of redditors it’s just turning into underground guerilla marketing, and that isn’t the direction people want the sub to go.

This probably isn’t the thread to have that conversation though. I’m just responding as I think it’s not as deranged as some people make it out to be. Personally I’m excited to try the Bakx, though I definitely agree that I’d prefer to see it with a built in mod—just for ergonomics and to not have to deal with calibration. But I’ll take what I can get, I think! I’ve been super impressed with my TP80!

Right on... Yeah, I'm not sure who is saying there is a conspiracy, but that is over the top. It comes down to being upfront with what you've said here, differentiating you from just regular people who don't have relationships with the manufacturers. Like it or hate it, people will look harder at what you are saying (good or bad) when you have a connection with a manufacturer.

I dont really have a conmection to the manufacturer; I was invited to the beta group because i was referred to ralph by someone who was already in the group, as i have a ton of 510s already and a lot of experience using them. I paid for my unit and participated in discussions about the device while we were testing it, but thats the most ive ever spoken to Ralph, i think weve had all of one convo before this and it was me registering a service request for a tp80. Its not like its some ongoing relationship, or like we got any money or special perks for participating. Its literally just a beta test group; if people have problems with that as a concept i guess thats their opinion, but i just feel i have to push back on the idea that this is some premeditated advertising push, cause thats just not the case.
