I know the reviewers weighed there herb and we know it depends if your herb is dry or not but can someone weigh what a bowl is or half a bowl as it is skinner from what I recall on the bottom? TIA Bowl size as we have discussed before is different for all. For example I don't get how some use a shorty in the solo...to me the bowl is small so why would I want to go smaller.
I believe slim said yesterday that he basically fills the bowl and it takes .4.

Another one to add to the growing list of Ascent woes. Got mine today and was excited to look it over . No flaws, looking good. I plugged it in and the connection to the charger is so flaky that it is useless. Ow well, guess I'll be exchanging it tomorrow.

Much to my surprise, the stench/odor/burning smell of mine is pretty much history. That's after just general usage. Really seemed unlikely, so much so that the RMA I requested may get rescinded. I was going to exchange it, but now that would be mostly for the OLED display only. That may or may not be worth the time and effort since it's functionally fine.

The advice to pack it tight, puck tight, is working for me. I loosely fill the bowl full then tamp down pretty hard. That fills about 1/4 of the bowl. That's the minimum I need to get it to work the way I want.

Something to keep the puck at the bottom of the bowl is necessary. That was also good advice given. When I take even mild light draws the puck drifts right up to the bottom of the glass stem screen. I can tell it's there now just based on draw resistance. But the fact that it pulls the puck up to the glass screen so easily says that any air leaks aren't that bad. When it stays at the bottom of the bowl, my vape clouds are at their best. Opening the bowl to tamp the puck drifted to the top of the bowl every hit is a nuisance. But it really works well. Just need to mod a jar, get a glass bead or cotton like others mentioned.

I really get medicated with this thing, but it is a herb hog compared to my original DV or my Solo.

I had the idea to push the four hole glass piece down so that it didn't require the silicone seal to be the connection between the bowl and screen.
I got really nice clouds.
But then I realized I couldn't open the thing without breaking the glass screen as it now stuck out of the bottom of the top piece and into the bowl!!
Had to wait til I got home and stuck a mostly de-cottoned qtip into the glass filter piece and used the friction to pull it back up and open the chamber.
Results: very darkly toasted avb biggest clouds yet.

At least when you did it you had something in it to vape. I wasn't so smart.

Like I've said my glass bead allows me to do small loads with big clouds! Davinci needs to make a fritted spacer the size of the bowl. This would hold the herb to the bottom and keep bits from entering the air path.

I found a piece of sea glass that's just the right size -takes up about half the bowl and fits all the way inside the bowl but rather snugly

My loads for the most part staying down ... I think a bowl reducer in the form of the oil can with holes might be the way to go though ... loving my Ascent so far ... (had about 5 sessions I think?) ... all decent vapor production and didn't feel like it was wasteful at all (at least no more than any other portable ... I'm not talking about the MiniVAP as it's only sort-of a portable for those that know you and are aware of how much I like my MiniVAP--which completely misses the mark on the discretion factor for a portable ... opposite of )

I'm still fiddling with my temps but finding 200C + is better ... but haven't decided how much over ... I've been stopping at 210 as I'm satisfied with the extraction when the vapor production gets wispy at this point ... trying to decide where my starting point is between 200-210C

Only real concern now is that darn wire that I can see ... like I mentioned before ... I think that very, very little vapor would make its way down there and back up the glass tubes (I finish a session in a couple minutes), but still, even if any does it's not great!

Have you tried a suction test? It sounds like it may fail if you can see wire in the airpath.

I've done suction tests on the stems without them inserted into the Ascent ... I commented on it above ... because the 2 glass pieces don't 100% seal I would think minute amounts of vapor would come into contact with that wire, and even less would make it back up the vapor path to your lungs; as well, apart from the nature of vapor, I can't see the temperature of the vapor by the time it reaches the wires being of particular concern (the material in the wires is of concern unless I have full specs and MSDS sheets on the wires--and insulation around--in use) ... could be that inhaling even warm air across these wires is of concern ...

From what I can tell ... the only real defect is that the silicone seal is slightly too short and doesn't seal the up-path. I've also tried pushing the wire in with a little bamboo stick (the NO2 cleaning sticks) and tried to pull up the silicone gasket ... no luck ... can still see the wire although I have gotten it tucked away a little further

For those of you super paranoid about the wire(s) but still wanting to try out your Ascent ... if you have a silicone ring/washer you can put around the main tube from the top before putting on the extension tube ... I'm sure you can make it seal so that the wire I definitely out of the way.

@JCat my issue is that when it is sitting at 430F during "burn off" I can smell overheating electronics from the top part but not from the bowl/heater.

Without even inhaling I can tell the wire is a problem, its going to be heated up because there is a heater sitting below it, hot air rises and can reach it, not because of the vapor passing it, at this point no vapor is even entering the path.

Try the suction test the way I described it earlier, with both glass stems in it and the mouthpiece extended. If you open it and seal up the bottom completely, you should not be able to draw air, I can't on mine. If you can draw any air it's from a place you don't want to draw air from!

Damn...I think my 2nd ascent is f**ked...it will turn on and everything. But the temp wont go up past 90°f no matter how long I let it heat...just as I was singing the praises of the ascent...smh but why....

I got my Stealrh from got vape. Looked it over very carefully. The only cosmetic issue was a slight smudge on the OLED, that looked like condensation under the display. but it isn't really visible unless the display is off. There was only a bit of the mystery gas and the smell and taste went away after a couple of uses. I was just about to start concentrating on enjoying the session when I noticed The killer problem on mine. It is that it won't charge. If I hold the connector just so, while standing on one leg and facing west it will charge until you blink. And I was so looking foreword to chasing clouds with it.

If you have an original dv you can use that charger, if the charger is infact the problem...

Thought of that, thanks. I did try the charger for my original Davinci. No joy, it is just as flaky a connection. It is the unit, not the charger.

Took it out for one last spin. Didn't get huge clouds, but I had respectable vapor. I was so looking forward to this thing and now it's buggered.oh well, back in the box.

Need to figure out if it would be better to return to Got Vape or Davinci. Does anybody know if got vape makes you pay return shipping? The website is down

Think it's bad it's down to us to pay postage on something that's defective! Fair enough if nothing wrong with unit but it cost $110 to have it shipped to me first time, sending back and forward it would be cheaper to chuck it away

that is VERY strange. i called and spoke to a rep and he said send back the Ascent and the charger. keep ALL the glass. i then followed up with a PM here and was told the same thing. so i am only sending back the unit and the charger. aren't you doing a refund??? maybe that is why they want it all back. i am doing an exchange

I think asking us to return items like the sticker, social card and red tape is just an attempt to deny reimbursement. Since when do you dictate terms of return after the fact? I really don't want to be held accountable for all the poor decisions davinci has made. If I sent a bunch of guys out to do a job w/o showing any presence or maintaining qc (I would probably be too busy on my marketing campaign), why should I be surprised if they fuck the dog? It would be my fault for not personally assuring a good product was being produced.
IMO, if they cared for their customers a fraction of what they claim to, they would expand phone hours and bring in additional operators to handle the backlash from the situation they created. Supposedly, we had to wait for the ascent forever due to qc issues and their attempt to ONLY market a highend product. That doesn't seem very believable at this point. Also, what happened to that new and improved interaction davinci said we were now going to get from her? Did she mean only if things were going well?
