I charged mine on Saturday and never used it. Today it is at 75%, so there is some discharge when just sitting around. don't know if that is a lot or not.

THR, you are the man! That is the kind of review everybody has been waiting for! You have set a new bar in the vaporizer review world IMHO. Very professional. I'm glad a guy like you was one of the first to get one. With that kind of vapor production I don't see why they had to make any adjustments to it at all. The only bad thing about it....... You just made this wait so much damn harder!!!

I'm thinking that a few small drops of oil in the center of a 3/4 bowl sized cotton nug would really set things off well! Cleaning could present somewhat of a challenge though. Just a thought: cradle the cotton/oil in a small cutting of foil (no longer glass-on-glass, but...). No cleanup afterwards, just toss away.

The oil can 'works' and gets you 'medicated' it just doesnt give you big clouds...so if my g pen was dead and I needed to dab I wojld probably use it

That was worth the wait for the final review! That blows the other YouTube reviewers out of the water, and sets the bar really high. :)

THR -- Thank you. Well done sir.

Anyone recall if SLiM was going to post a "final review" also? All three of our people have been providing great info on the device (THANKS!) an I *thought* SLiM, in addition to THR, were testing extensively before final comments.

Oh, and happy 4th to all the yanks out there!

Awesome review THR! Best I've seen so far.

Here's a comfort for everyone who is still waiting for the Ascent - think of it this way: Davinci has released quite a few more units apart the couple that went to FC members and new reviews are popping up every once in a while (just check google for search results that are less than 1 week old). They've had the unit themselves at least since February and hopefully have been testing it all the while. Now if Davinci has been honest with us and the issues so far have been mainly superficial, then that would mean that the actual unit should be quite solid in the long term. Which is what we all want anyway. I mean who wants to spend $250 for a device that breaks down after a couple of weeks/months (see original Davinci)?. That's just bad for business anyway because of people claiming warranties etc.
Imagine it would have been released 2 months ago and everyone would have bought one and for some reason the software was still full of bugs or something else unforeseen. Everybody would be waving their fist at Davinci for releasing prematurely. The more careful among us would have waited a couple of weeks after the official release to see how the reviews are anyway. So in a sense I don't think that we've missed out too much.

Thanks THR, can you also comment on wakebakes smell comment? Since you have the original DV is it about the same?

Sticks that sounds like a lot of battery loss in less then a week. I hope DV chimes in on this. I have left my original DV for weeks with very little loss. I have done this with other vapes as well. I know nothing about batteries but 25% seems like a lot to me especially since our resident battery people say to store batteries at 40% for long term. Like you said something is using battery even without use.

Lets see if this post gets deleted like my 'other' first one. :goon:

If your post was deleted then a moderator decided it was inappropriate. Since I didn't do it I can't say exactly why it got deleted but if it was in this thread then it was almost certainly not advancing the discussion of the Ascent. Whatever the reason, your :goon:is just begging me or another mod to give you a point. I'm giving you a break here so you might want to use it to review the rules, especially this one:
  • Public discussions of staff decisions are not permitted on the site. If you have any concerns or queries relating to a staff decision please take it up in private with a staff member.
Seems now that this thread was made prematurely.

You clearly do not understand the criteria we have for thread management. Apparently you haven't read the thread much either, since I already explained this just a couple of days ago. If we thought the thread should be moved or closed, it would happen. If you want to question staff decisions, see the rule quoted above.

I get discharge when it is laying around. I had it sitting in my car for a week and it went from full charge to one use left. Keep in mind it was pretty cool here when I did that. I imagine that it is not good to store your battery powered device for extended periods of time in a super hot car...

I have started leaving mine plugged in when not in use.

Seconding this. Obviously, all vapes smell, but some more than others (e.g., the Pax gives off much more of an odor than the MFLB). Would any of our illustrious testers please comment more on how the smell compares to other vapes?

Wondering if you could slip a silicon tube over the glass stem and hit it with the whip. Would it be effective?

Very well done review, THR. I'm still not convinced that the Ascent is going to knock the miniVAP oof its' perch in my stable, but looking forward to giving it a try after it is released. It looks like it could be very good when out and about. The miniVAP is way too big for discrete vaping.

Do any of you know a glue that is for metal/plastic, that is non-toxic???
I woke up and to my horror my ascents side cover panel fell off...
I would send it back to dv, but I have grown quite fond of this vape and dont want to be without it for a couple weeks or however long it takes them (I REALLY like this thing)

I vape daily/mainly with portables, I have sold most of my desktop units because I use my portables even inside the house...so this thing is like my main everyday vape, so I might be putting it through alot

Well, that is not very reassuring at all! I wish build quality was one of their 'improvements'. Might have to reconsider buying this one...

Both Elmer's white glue and Krazy glue are non-toxic. I can vouch for Elmer's because I ate some as a kid:doh: . Not sure how they do when heated up after hardening. There are also recipes on the net of how to make your own non-toxic glue.

Good luck!

i think this issue is something DV should chime in about....

Most definitely agreed.
I need a new portable, this thing looks sick...i was going to get the Cera but decided against that. Now it's between this & the IXP

MFLB just doesnt get me where i need to be with 1 trench...hell, it takes 4 or so trenches to really get me medicated.
The VB is nice, but mainly for oils...i dont like the flavor with flower.
