I've been keeping up on this thread since I got my Ascent and while it's been very entertaining and I'm learning a lot about vaps (first timer here), the Ascent has been about as 'unplug 'n play' as I could ask for.
Prior to vaping I preferred the smallest hitter possible (a little larger than the fake cig ones). I can take about double that amount of flowers, grind it, tamp it down medium with the can, and get about 4 good tasting hits over the course of two sessions. I usually heat to 365, wait about 20 seconds, 20-30 second slow sip, wait 20, turn off, wait 10 seconds, slow sip until it clears. rinse and repeat later, cash out espresso brown ABV.
I've also packed it full and just about every bowl size in between and have only seen the rising puck a couple times...mostly from people wanting to deep throat it. In general, the most I've had to do in the sense of maintenance during a session is an occasional stir. All the while, I've never seen the battery meter go below half...even when out for a night.
My only (very minor) complaints are
1) It is a bit difficult to pack though I've found pre-grinding my flowers and storing in an empty tic-tac box works nicely for pouring it in. Definitely needs a stand or a case that can help with this
2) Keeping it clean could be a bit challenging over time.
All of this said, I must say I can't shake the feeling that something bad's going to happen. I have no good reason to believe this based on my device, but after reading all the stories on here I am worried about what happens 6 months down the road when it, for instance, won't power on all the sudden or the hinge stops working properly, etc. This thing ain't cheap. Hopefully I'm just paranoid.
