You were misinformed. The part you voided was warrantied for LIFETIME:

The remainder for two years (not one) it could well have been covered? My point is the fellow should have told innocents they were blowing the LIFETIME warranty by following his advice as I see it.

Yeah I guess he should've but I don't have a receipt and what's done is done so I'll just try to make the best of the situation. I'm going to the store he got it from later today and ask them what could be wrong. With a little bit of luck they'll be able to test it with another battery. I'll keep you informed!

You need 18650 cells WITH SOLDER TABS, the ones typically used to build laptop battery packs. These are the last ones I used:

There are marginal on pulse current (right on the mark), the former 2200 mAh versions did better here I think.
The tabs are essential, don't even think of building a pack by soldering directly to the cells (even the pros don't risk that). There in lies the big rub, you don't need two 'batteries' you need a pack complete with protection PCB and the cable necessary to plug into the Solo. You can salvage the extra parts from the old pack, buy you need some considerable skills. Here's what you're up against:
That's the factory pack without the heat shrink cover. You can see the thermal switch between the cells, the protection PCB is under the tape. It's spot welded together. You can cut the straps to the cells from the PCB and solder them to the tabs on the new cells:
and then insulate the new pack and fit it back in. Be advised it's a very tight fit in the well, normal (top mounted) PCBs won't work, it has to be a side type.
Buying a complete pack is probably a better plan. Factory ones are available from a few places (low demand?) and our very on CentiZen makes excellent aftermarket packs with higher capacity cells. You can get them directly from him or PIU or PV (who sell them as well).

1. No green light, even after 12h.
2. Using VOLTCRAFT with 2250mA wich the guy sent with.
3. As i opened it up, the battery looked good, so not bubbled up or anything, so no visual damage.
4. as i remember, every single wire was OK.
First of all, today i made it to heat up. I switched the power supply to 9V, connected it and after some trying out with pressing buttons and putting Charger in and out i made it to select temperature and then it heated up. But i have to be fast and need some try outs to make it heating up. It also only works with 9V, with 12v no chance to get anything heated up.
I got also sometimes the first 3 yellow leds blinking, which should mean that the power supply is not the best for the unit, as i have read before (?)...
I guess, the pre-owner just killed the battery totally. As i told before, only with connected power source there are the lighted up LEDS. Without Power supply, there is NOTHING.
The power supply i got with the unit is a VOLTCRAFT With 3, 4, 5 6 7 9 12V and 2250mA.
If the guy used this Unit since 2011, and if he uses the thing for a longer time with the technique i described (and i guess he did!), i really believe he killed the Battery.
So i am going to buy an http://www.amazon.com/Li-Ion-Tenergy-2200mAh-Rechargeable-Battery/dp/B002Y2LJW0 new battery and change it. (as described here http://forum.grasscity.com/vaporizers/1020444-arizer-solo-battery-mod-tutorial.html)
Well, hopefully this will help to fix the problem! Otherwise i have to use it wired as the guy before
edit: Boooh, no store is sending those battery packs to Austria... wtf?
Any cheap alternative to the quite expensive arizer solo-powerpacks (they cost about 40 Bucks...)?

Be advised I've used two of those batteries, both times they were too long to fit and I had to cut the outer jacker off. Also be very careful of the polarity, Arizer is 'backwards' from standard on the JST connector, match colors with the stock Arizer connector or reverse them for insdustry standard ones.

It gives weird light shows when it doesn't get the proper voltage. 9volts and 1.5amps = power adapter mode.
The blue idle light stay on when plugged into power adapter. Select temps by up or down. Charge is uh... 12 volts and 1 amp it says on my old Solo charger. The amp ratings are important. On the old solos (where you need a separate cable for charging and power adapter) the power adapter feature BARELY uses any battery. I may have had mine attached and keeping a charge for a week or two while on my PA and there was minimal to no charge loss. Maybe the battery on yours is just dead after 4 years haha.

First charge is important. Overcharge by 5 hours and then some if you can contain yourself. Burn of then at full heat for 2 complete cycles and while still warm insert loaded stem and enjoy.

The Solo thread is a pretty good read but it would take a long time. 20 - 50 pages will get you familiar with this gem of a portable. This is the unit I always suggest to folks that are new to vaporizing. It easy to use with its all glass vapor path. Cleaning the mouthpieces when they get dirty and a swipe every now and again of the oven is all that will be needed far as maintenance is concerned.
Taking good care of the battery and charging it before it gets too low is important to preserve the longevity of the battery. Also take your unit off the charge right before fully charged that helps it too. There have been times that I don't catch it and that will happen to you too I'm sure. My unit is a year and a half old and the battery still will last me an hour, I get almost 6 - 10 min sessions.
You might want to start low temperature wise, like at temp 3 and work your way up to what works for you. Put the amount of herb that you want and don't pack down at all, because you don't want too tight of a draw. I just tap mine on the end with my finger to hold my cannabis in place. You want a little air to move through your product. I put my cannabis in my stem and into the Solo then I turn it to my desired heat. Once there, I wait 20 seconds then I take my first draw. You can grind your herb or use little nuggets, it's up to you. I grind mine to a medium consistency. My fav temps that I like are 4 then I go up to 5 but it depends on the moisture level of your product.
You have made a wise decision and your body will thank you for fuckingcombustion.
The main thing is to relax and enjoy. It's a very easy vaporizer to get to know.

All good info so far, just wanted to add that you don't need to care or worry about any of our aftermarket modifications we talk about in here right now. Stick to stock stems (add a metal screen if you want, 1/2" sits flat inside and 5/8" makes a little dome a lot of us like to use) and figure out the tempo of the vaporizer. The heat light will flash on and off randomly even when it's at your set temp, it's normal and just the heater turning on and off to maintain temp. Medium grind, perhaps a light pack so nothing spills out. Try starting at 3 or 4 and slow draws. If you're fighting the resistance of the draw when everything's set up, you're pulling too hard on it. Quick tip on vaping since it's not really like smoking: when it's "done" depends on how vaporized you like the load. It'll stop giving vapor at say level 3 after enough draws, but then you can bump it up higher and get more out of it. Sometimes the duff will come out light brown or golden, other times looking like spent coffee. It's a preference thing. If you vape at low temperatures or don't completely vaporize it you can still use the spent herb to make some edibles. The reclaim/resin that builds up inside the stems is also not like combustion resin where it's tar and combustion byproducts. The oil that vaporizers make is essentially just condensed vapors (as well as any terpenes and plant waxes from the trichomes I guess), much cleaner and better tasting than the old smoking resin shit I used to smoke sometimes. 50 pages seems like a lot of reading but you'll see we repeat information a little bit in the thread so it won't be too much reading. Once you get into the swing of things is when you can start branching out and experimenting with different setups, that way you can compare the results of said experiments against "standard vaping" with the Solo. You'll get frustrated trying to vape a whole nugget at level 2 if you aren't familiar with how it works.

I'm having a Solo morning. Feels great, like a small cup a' joe in my hands. After using the nano a lot lately, feels so good to be un-corded. Bent stock stem, dome screen, fine grind, really good strain (think it's blue dream) = SOLO HEAVEN

so i keep seeing that its great as a beginners vape, so what are we looking at going forward? whats a step up from it? ( i like to jump the gun,) and really getting into this fuckcombistion mindset after years of burning my herb to hell and wasting oz's a week.
and mods? man ive flipped through so many posts but i must have missed the modding section completely.
also with the leftovers what are we looking at (use wise)
how much or i guess how many uses would it take to gather enough for edibles? never really had the pleasure of making any.

Adding a few different mouthpieces and water tools might be something that you would be interested in. You would need a GonG for that. But one vaporizer isn't enough because even though there's very few faulty Solos, it's does happen every now and again. It depends on if you want another portable or a log or desk style vaporizer, which would be plugged in an electrical outlet.
The Solo has a sister vaporizer called the Arizer Air. It's thinner and more stealth than the Solo. It runs on user replaceable batteries. You could check that portable out.
Getting back to mouthpieces, PlanetVape has specialized mouthpieces for the Solo and the Air but some just like the standard mouthpiece that comes with the unit. Also @Ed's TnT makes wooden mouthpieces and WonGs. You've got some more reading to do.

@monkeybon10I think the longer I experiment with my Solo, the more I realize that I shouldn't be fooled by the price tag. It's very versatile, lends itself to water tools (not my personal gig), has pretty decent battery life and charges fast, can be really efficient if handled properly.
I like the volume of heat it can throw off for a portable vape. The shorter stems run the risk of hotter air reaching your throat, but there are so many ways to customize that. The solo can feel like you have a few vapes, but @CarolKing is correct, gotta have a spare so as to not resort to combusting.
Good luck learning the process, it's different, but much, much better than smoking herb.

Hello guys!
I am looking for a Bubbler which fits in the Arizer solo , so it can be used as a mouth piece.
I bought a bubbler like on the pic for my flowermate _Mini, and i connected them with a plastic tube. Worked nice!
But the diameter of the glass was 16mm, in the Arizer solo things with 15mm will fit...
I tried to drag this Bubbler while let it turn on a turning lathe.I used a special sandpaper and dragged about 0,5mm...
Stupidly i (or better: my Dad) broke the bubbler while draging, so i need another one which should fit in the solo! I know such bubblers exist, but they are expensive when bought in online vape stores... (20-30 Bucks)...
Does anyone know where to buy such bubbler? from china, aliexpress or dhgate?
