Thinking about buying a solo from Sears for 130 shipped. Or a pax for 150 from a friend for 150. Tell me why I should buy a solo instead

Besides the wonderful flavor it pushes thru, cleaning and fouling is minimal. And you can load multiple stems for quickly rotating in fresh bud. Sprinkle some Co2 oil on your leaf in the solo stem, turn the solo upside down to prevent leakage into the bowl, and its lights out.

420democrat, You will need to read up on the devices that you are interested in. I don't own a Pax so I wouldn't be able to comment about it. I did try using one once, I didn't like the harsh flavor.

I do own a Solo and the flavor you cannot compare with the Pax. The flavor is wonderful. The Unit isn't as stealth as the Pax. I have heard folks comment that the Indica is far better than the Pax.

The Solo works well with WT, I don't know if the Pax does? The Solo is very easy on herb, my herb bill was less when I bought the Solo. I have been reading about the Indica, it has a large oven like the Pax, but it has a spacer, in fact it has two.

I would go with Puffitup if you want to buy a Solo. They may match the price on the one from Sears. I guess you would be able to send it back if there was a problem with Sears. Puffitup pays for shipping if you need to send it back, after care is exceptional. If you have any questions, your emails are answered quickly.

Price isn't the only factor when buying a vaporizer, think about your health too. What one person likes about a vape another person may have a different opinion. How will you be using your vaporizer? Will you be mostly on the go? That makes a difference as to which one you may want to buy. I hear the Pax is smelly. The Solo is the least smelly of all my vaporizers.

I have 2 Solos, one I just sent back because of problems. My first Solo I had no problems with and I've had it about 10 months. There have been recent changes to the Solo where you can charge and use at the same time, also there is better airflow. The new changes may have effected the performance of the battery. That seemed to be my issue when I contacted PIU. A new one is being sent to me, I should be getting it soon.

I have the Ascent, 3 Pinnacle Pros, Vapir No2 and MFLB. I sold my Vapir No 1, too loud. I do like the other units but the Solo is my favorite. I do plan on buying the Indica in the future.

Only you can decide what's best for you.

If this guy wants a PAX let him!
Maybe flavor is not important as it might be to some?

I personally love the SOLO as you most likely noticed.

Why do I love it?
Flavor is not the best however better than a joint as well as most portables.

The SOLO is cheap!
Pairs very well with water tools.

I have 3 of them and I only need 1 really.

If you eat dinner from a trash can then a SOLO is not important.

If the finer things in life matter and you do not own a SOLO?

I have a indica, knock off pax, mflb with pa looking at solo, pax or nano really. .. Really really leaning to solo though. Is aromatek reputable seller? They have it 139 with free shipping (2 day) newest model

Too many great things to say about the Solo in one short post. One would do very well to read any 30 or so Solo thread pages at a time in order to become well informed of the Solo's versatility, stellar performance, and functional details. It has often been suggested here and elsewhere on FC ('Rules' also I believe) that reviewing threads, though massive they may be, is the best and fairest way to enlightenment. Go forth and prosper Solo Seeker!:peace:;)

I don't want to name drop however I peronally can not handle burnt pop corn after taste many of the vaporizers you own?

For Plug in I like the flavor of the NANO plus it's tiny and work's amazing with water.
The SOLO is the only portable I can handle except for the BENDER which is a connoisseur device and not to leave the house.

Whatever floats your boat!

Joints are the best really.
Too bad the older one becomes the harder they become!

Get a SOLO and enjoy life!

Why would you want to go with a company that probably won't pay to have the unit sent back in case of problems? Many of these companies have a long turn around time, you send your unit in and it's weeks before you get another one. I guess if you have a back up vape it doesn't matter.

I like the peace of mind that if there are any problems I don't have to worry. Puffitup is awesome no worries, no hassle and quick service.

Yeah, unless you have a reason NOT to go with puffitup, you should. See if Randy'll price match the Sears price, if they do you get it at that price and won't have to really worry about anything happening. If the vendor decides you have to deal with Arizer, you may end up having to ship it to them, in Canada. PIU is in California I believe, so either shipping from and to CA, or from CA to within the States without having to go through Canadian Customs.

I've been enjoying some QWISO that I made with the Skunk #1 in the Solo recently. I really do believe that the oil-soaked cotton is the best way to vape oil. It's quite simple, I'll reiterate for those that missed it here and elsewhere (I believe @Alan was one of the firsts to mention it?).

You'll need a small dish, some oil, a dabbing tool, a small amount of cotton, and either ISO alcohol or Everclear/the closest thing to Everclear that you can get (pure ethanol with no added stuff).

What you want to do is take your oil and put it in the dish, spreading it a little bit so that there's more surface area for the alcohol to touch. You want to get a small dish since you'll want to minimize liquid loss to the dish. I have a small ceramic dish that fits about 3/4 - 1 gram of weed in it, may be a few tablespoons of water max? A shot glass would work for this provided your dabbing tool is long enough to reach.

Anyways, once you get your oil inside, add a little bit of alcohol to it. You could get away with around .5ml or a bit more depending on the amount of oil you're dissolving. The idea here is to get the oil to mix completely with the alcohol, using as little alcohol as possible. I add about 4 or 5 drops in with a pipette, work it a little bit, add a few more, work it a little more, etc. until I'm satisfied with the results. I really mean use as little alcohol as possible, too, because the next step will work better with less liquid.

Take your 100% organic clean cotton (no chemicals or synthetic stuff!!) and tear off a bit, enough to comfortably fill a stem up, and drop it into the solution. The cotton will wick the liquid into it. I said use less alcohol if possible because you don't want to end up needing to soak 3 cottons instead of 1. The cottons would be 1/3 the potency of the single cotton if you used the same amount of oil. The shape of my dish also helps to form the cotton into more of a disk than a ball or wad of wet cotton. Letting it evaporate/dry while flattened out really makes loading easier for me, all I have to do is push it in as if I were placing a screen in. It'll conform to the insides of the stem chamber and then you can fold over any excess. It also gives you more surface area compared to a wad of cotton, so more oil is heated at the same time which equals thicker hits.

This also makes very quick work of getting lots and lots of "pads" set up and evaporated for immediate use later. I can already see myself doing this if I had more oil, mix X amount of oil with Y amount of alcohol, and using a glass pipette or similar, dropping 5-10 drops per cotton pad. Once evaporated, if you want to add a little more, I'm sure you could. Just make sure to make as strong an oil/alcohol solution as possible so that you don't need to add too many drops to a prepped cotton.

Due to my limited experience with this, I'm unsure of what would happen if you completely saturated a cotton. I figure the alcohol would evaporate and the oil would start to lump up in the cotton...

This is definitely my preferred method for using oils with the Solo. It's relatively easy and inexpensive to do and you don't even have to worry about oil dripping down into the heater. The cottons, while not doing an absolutely perfect job of being equally saturated with oil, do seem to disperse it quite well throughout it. When dried and ready to vape, my cotton oil pads are sticky throughout and can be shaped somewhat.

I just use a small piece of cotton and wrap it around a piece of shatter.
Put it in a GonG set the SOLO one level higher than I do for flowers and medicate!

I like to soak a small swatch of cotton with Green Dragon tincture and let it evaporate until dry. Load my Solo, set at 7, and get punched in the head big time:ko:! Solo makes it so easy - perfect every time!

I use just enough fiber to allow for good air flow. Too much oil can mat the fibers together and not allow enough air to flow through it. I sometimes fluff the fiber after drawing hot air through it a couple of times. The process also works with hash. It is a good way to evenly distribute the oil. Nice to make them up ahead of time.
I had always used everclear in the past but recently tried ISO. Everclear has 5% water no matter how hard you try to distill it. ISO can be made completely free of water. Either should work fine. Just don't drink the ISO solution. Ground herb can be added to the alcohol/oil solution for some super potent roasting when the alcohol evaporates.

I do not get it I guess?

I use well purged (vacuumed) shatter.
I don't use ISO or EVERCEAR?
The taste is unbearable to me?
I can't even do ABV oil.
Makes me sick?
ISO taste so bad?
I guess I just don't get it?

Sounds like dumpster diving!
