I wonder how many times Ataxian is going to have to post the picture of pressure on either side of a pinch.....thank god he's a robot! lol

OK, zeroing in on it...
OF

so i it was reading in hundredths of a volt bit it was 7.10 so I forgot to add the zero.
after a lot of work trying to get a steady connection I finally managed it.
the measurements stayed 7.10 when turning it on and when it was charging and didn't fluctuate by even 0.01

Wow. These stems really loosen up fast. It's only my 5th day with my new Solo and today it's so loose that when I hold it upside down the stem falls out with no problem at all. Are they supposed to become that loose fitting?

I'm not complaining though because the airflow has increased significantly. I don't even see the need buy one of those PVHES anymore (even though I still will ;)). Obviously the snugger fit felt better, but it's ripping better now. It seems more functional this way. I'm also using higher temps now (4-6).

Very nice.

So what's the shortest 14mm gong adapter for this thing? Is there anything besides the PV stuff? They seem to be out of 14mm everything, so I was wondering what else might be available.

the PVHE gongs are a little shorter than the normal gong stems and I don't know of anywhere else that normally stocks them. you could try finding a local glass blower and have one made, someone on here did that a while back (50-100 pages ago) and the gong joint Sat right on top of the solo similar to the way the joint sits on a VXC. the bowl was tapered so the inside looked like a normal chillum bowl instead of having either the disc with the 4 holes or a turbo option though. Or you could get a stock stem or straight PVHES and take that to a blower to have him/her cut the top off the weld a joint to it if you have to have it right away and don't mind spending more for it

I know I'm beating the horse again, but a really simple way to increase airflow without being a McGyver, and it's been for a long time.... ,
# get yourself a SS screen
# dome the center like if it was a little bump, nipple, etc etc that kind of will fit as a cap in your loading chamber-bowl of the stem
# trim-cut as needed to fit the bottom of your Solo SS heating chamber (note: bump in screen should be facing up :) common sense is called)
# place loaded stem on top and voilà!!!
IMO Easiest cheapest way for better airflow.
I see so many people jerking up and down the stem for better airflow, I'm not saying it's wrong, but IMHO, decreases temperature faster due to movement and exposure to cold air on top of the heating chamber, depleting faster the battery that uses more energy to reheat...
And I can only imagine so much jerking loosening up those already soft Teflon rings.
And, if you are using an o-ring already , wouldn't the jerk be a little bit tight and cumbersome :)
Too much jerking make me tired...

P.s: I think I post some pics a long time ago about this simple method, but sometimes is really nice to pull out old tricks and look cool in front of people :) jajaja that don't have time for reading...
Enjoy and stay vaped my friends...

OK. Bummer. The battery is basically fine, but the Solo is (1) unable to charge it and (2) unable to run normally. Either could have been battery faults but normal voltage (no real drop) when on (and lighting a LED or two) puts the blame back on the unit again.

IMO time to button it up again and send it in. Do I recall right there was some problem with this? No documents but a very new unit?

Yes, both are quite normal.

Mflb battery caps fit solo stems. pack-n-go.

True rumor. As do 'Chapstick' and similar lip balm caps, the tube is an industry standard you can not only steal them from used or friend's lip balm but also get the empty containers. McMaster-Carr also sells the same vinyl caps but in high temperature version that will allow you to pull the stem out hot and cap it right away (500F or so for 10 minutes IIRC), an advantage in some cases even if the cap is stiffer. You have to buy 100 but it's under $10 a bag.

I assume that if I install one of those aftermarket o-rings to make the stem more secure, the draw will become more restricted again, correct? Will it become as restricted as it was out of the box?

If that's the case I'll just keep it as it is since I don't plan on hitting it while hanging upside down from a tree or anything. I guess it's one or the other, airflow or snugness. It makes sense that you can't have both (using stock stems).

Yes and Yes. But if your planning on getting a PVHES stem then do the o-ring because at that point draw shouldn't be an issue.

Hola de nuevo:

Enjoy this kind of long, sorry, video, HD better. In the name of science I'm mixing it up. It's working pretty well. I'll have more news in a couple weeks.

Ive been experimenting with my helix adapter today and found that it works amazing with the solo's slow drag requirement when used with a WT

Fredrick, I don't draw to hard although when I got it, it was a huge challenge to get it right. Remember I wanted to throw it through the window cause it was killing my head no matter how slow I drew. It took time for me to understand it and get used to it. Now I have zero issues no matter what stem I use even if it is tight.

I just feel that with different tools you can do different things. I will get to the experiment and report back. I am just not in the mood to do all that stem switching. When I do it, I will attempt to keep the draw the same with each setup.

As far as the heat, I don't feel the solo is overly hot but the omi does cool it more as it feels almost ice cold when it comes in my mouth but again to be determined with the attempt of the same draw speed when I do the testing.

I did a search and couldnt find anything so here it goes.
Me and a lot of friends of mine are interested in making a solo lung (or parachute) so that you can still get some big hits with the solo (I don't want to bring a big bong with me everywhere) But every time I've tried making one for the solo it hasn't worked.

I've successfully made lungs in the past and for the solo I even made a hole in the cap thats about 1cm in diameter smaller then the stem for a perfect seal.
Now I've seen youtube videos of it working but both times I get next to nothing. So i'm wondering if it's worked at all for you guys and you have any tips?

tl;dr any tips for solo attached to lung

Hello FC!
Just wanted to pass on my appreciation for everything you have put into this site and especially this thread.
Based on the reports here, I ordered the Solo from PV with the PA.
Everything arrived yesterday, a day ahead of scheduled delivery
Wandered over to my buddy's place and we packed a stem.
Found that I may have ground the flowers a bit too much and packed a bit too tight. Nothing critical.
Took some draws at 4 then turned it up to 5.
Life is good!!!

gong show, welcome to the community and to the solo thread.

Bow, when I made my ugly lung that all made fun of, I made it for the INH but thought this may solve your issue. The INH has a sanitary tip which I put in the cap and sealed tight. I was then able to take the solo and just put it on the tip which fit inside the stem nice and tight. The tip is a little smaller than 1/4" so I hope that helps. If you make something in the cap permanent I think that will solve your issue even if it is the stem itself although that wouldn't be the way I would do it cause it would be a pain in the ass.

With how restricted the draw is on the solo, you have to make sure that every seal is completely air tight, air travels through the path of least resistance. Start with a brand new bottle, cut then melt the bottom, use a new bag that just barely fits over the bottle, I used a bag from a package of shake and bake the one time I tried it (I just didn't enjoy it personally). also use wide air tight tape like packingtape or duct tape and carefully tape it the whole way around without any bubbles in the tape. Just be aware that it will take forever to fill the bag because of the restricted draw, the bottle/bag has a hard time creating enough negative pressure

Yeah back when I tried it I used a brand new 2L, packing tape and a brand new shopping bag and got nothing. But I guess I can try again with a different bag. I saw a video awhile back of an oldman who had it down well but I can't seem to find it. Why melt the bottom of the bottle?

Dreamerr: Yeah like I said, I made the hole on the cap smaller then the stem, small enough that I would have to spend a couple minutes jamming it in. But I could always try looking for something the right size to leave in the cap.

the sharp edges from cutting it can put little holes in it. If it weren't for the draw restriction of the solo those little holes wouldn't rally cause that much of a problem, melting it smoothes the edges. Also a shopping bag isn't designed to be air tight so it won't work try Ogden bags, they are pretty cheap.

To add to it the reason why I put a permanent piece in the cap was so I can tape it and make sure all the holes are gone. Even if you make it small and have to jam it in it will still leak. Nothing is perfect.

Clouded Vision: I'm sorry but whats an ogden bag?

Dreamerr: And if that's the reason it sounds like more work then its worth, I'd prefer just taping the stem on the cap every session

Not sure if these have been posted before but they are intriguing bc PV wants 20+ for one, but the million dollar question, does it fit good??? http://www.aliexpress.com/item/nove...s-accessories-free-shipping-14/958282410.html. Could be a two for less than one kind of deal!

That looks like an Alibaba site for English customers .
They are famous for ALL kinds of cheap knock-offs .
Buy at your own discretion would be my advice .

Yeah, I still think the omi tip improves the experience a bit, I've never felt the solo gave off hot vapor (possibly due to my inhaling technique), but the omi tip does seem to make the vapor a little bit smoother.

Just an idea :)
Edit:
Or if someone could explain to me the science behind the thought of a restriction actually improving flow, I'd be very interested :brow:

This is what I think is happening when using the Omi-tip or Chillum .

I just don't get the venturi explanation: It appears to me, according to the File:Venturi.gif, that only a state of equilibrium is occurring at the exit, not a reduction in the original flow resistance. Can someone explain in layman's lingo, please?.
