Arizer Solo

Woah
I've been noticing this for quite sometime, I think it's because electricity stays in the charger for awhile as another FC member suggested with the red LED staying on. When I unplug the Solo before unplugging the charger, the Solo turns off (if it was off before). When I unplug charger before unplugging the Solo, the Solo turns on. :hmm:

Got my rings today...
wP90cVR.jpg

Snug as a bug and fits like a glove. Perfect airflow with my PVHES. Got 24 left over...
PoPDdP0.jpg

Figured I'll keep 4 and give the other 20 away in groups of 5.

The first 4 PMs I get, I will send 5 rings each, on me. EDIT: Got 4 people.

By the way, are these things ok to send in a regular envelope? I figured I'll just tape them to a sheet of paper, fold the paper and send it away.

I got the rings from rubberstore.com, it was $20 for 25 and it took about a week to ship. http://www.rubberstore.com/catalog/as113-silicone-oring-as568-size-0103-0549-p-8657.html

IT'S CHARGING IM SO HAPPY.
I had tried resetting it and unplugging the plug and everything else. I was about to visit the headshop I bought it at when I decided to try it one more time.. The difference this time was the plug hadn't been plugged in for a solid couple of days. And I don't know the science behind it, all I know is that the green charge light went on and everythings good. I think it may have had to do with me leaving the plug in the outlet 24/7?
Anyways, since a lot of people are having the same problem as me try what I did as a last resort first. give it a couple days break with the charger unplugged then try it again.
Thanks Way2 and OF for the help!

Mines is charging now too without the blinking lights. I unplugged the charger since I always seem to forget to unplug. I just tried ten minutes ago to charge it and now it's charging with old charger.

EDIT
It's now fully charged and working. Anyone runs into this, make sure to unplug charger for a day or two.

..I almost feel like I'm inhaling burning chemicals (maybe there's some residue? I almost feel like I'm inhaling carcinogens, which is the exactly what I'm trying to avoid vaping).
Maybe doing at least 3 high-temp burn-off cycles would help (as in three 12-minute cycles at heat level 7, making sure the unit is fully charged to begin with). That and a quick wipe down of the heat chamber and stem soak/rinse usually gets rid of the nasty oil/chem flavor that usually accompany new Solo units.

On level 7 empty the solo will stink. So don't fret.
And the smell will go away as you use it.
And when you use it start on 5-6 you could always adjust.
I rarely go to 7 anymore just start on 6 and go between 5/6.

Need a little help here!

I got a solo a while ago and just started using it recently - and would love it to use it SO much more, if it weren't for this one problem:

The vapor tastes really strongly of burnt popcorn. I know this is typical if your heat is really high and you're starting to burn the material, but I'm getting this even on heat setting 3! (Also, after 3 draws my weed is already 'burnt/vaped' brown...)

Can anyone guess what the issue is? Is my Solo overheating or something? I've used the volcano before, and the vapor didn't have this pungent burnt taste. I almost feel like I'm inhaling burning chemicals (maybe there's some residue? I almost feel like I'm inhaling carcinogens, which is the exactly what I'm trying to avoid vaping). Or am I just using really shitty weed?

I'm sure I'd get used to the taste if I started using it every day, but TBH, it's pretty nasty.
Just to add weight to the suggestions above: in addition to inverting the solo so no plant matter is touching the hot stainless steel cup as suggested by bluerap00, I've noticed that if the bud has a high carbohydrate content, those sugars will oxidise at relatively low temp giving that burnt taste even well short of real combusition. Like OF says vaping with a stock stem at #2 instead of #3 might help - #2 is still plenty hot (185c) to release the more psycoactive goodies. I never go much above 175c with my digital hotbox desktop whip vaporiser. I suspect most folks using and recommending higher settings are using pvhes stems that cool that really hot solo heated air with room air to lower the effective vaping temperature.

Got my silicone O-rings from OF last week , belated thanks for the chance to experiment with these little beauties . Used , uncut , with my new PVHES stealth adapter is just about perfect . Am currently experimenting with cutting notches into one ( of 4 , for free , thanks again , OF ) but may be too much airflow for a standard gong adapter . Am still playing with them , but the savings in dumped bowls will probably more than make up for any increased drag ...

I'm curious now?

I have been using the stock stems for almost 2 years without issue.
Are the PVHES so much better than the stock stems?
I feel mine works well the way it comes?
What am I missing?
My FLOWER use when down considerably when I switched to a SOLO
from my previous little wooden box vaporizer.(needed a pocket full of batteries as well)
Plus the flavor improvement!

Dry vape on level 3
Water Path level 4

I have the shorty and all I can say is WOW!!! I use so little that I am shocked when I am done. To be honest ataxian you NEED the PVHES given that you vape at 3 or 4. The cloud production at those levels with the PVHES is outstanding. The solo is now my fav and it has replaced my old monster (kia vape) as my #1 vape. I still will use the (SVT) style of vape.... but IDK this solo... I really hope they come out with a 2.0 that could you could use while on the charger with out the PA and also can be charged by usb like another vape out there.

Just my 2,

To be honest go to the PVHES availability thread.... thats how I tracked down my shorty. And you should just try the PVHES straight. You will really notice the diff in air flow and also the quality of the flavor and how long it lasts. The turbo is one hole from what I have come to the understanding... and I think that might change the vape production due to the fact there is not more holes for air flow.

Ataxian, IMO you probably don't need the PVHE Gong at all. If you are already happy with your stock stem I would just stick with that. I had been using my stock stem in an old school soft glass bong until about 2 weeks ago when I got the infamous & a PVHE Gong. the less restrictive draw does have it's advantages but Tech is completely wrong about it making bigger clouds. The PVHE increases air flow by mixing the heated air coming through the unit with cold air that it sucks in down the channels on the side & cold air is the enemy of vaporization. I know a lot of people are going to say that the PVHE stems & gongs give them bigger clouds easier but the truth is they are actually less dense even though they may feel like they are bigger. Bottom line is do what you like, if you are perfectly happy with your stock stems save the $30 it comes out to & throw it towards a bag or new glass or the next vape you have your eyes on.

I'm really not trying to bash the PVHE I just prefer denser clouds than you can get with the PVHE, to each their own though. Honestly I feel like I should have gotten a PVHES & just a normal gong stem because when I hit my solo dry is when I notice the draw restriction the most.

Improve your technic. You can have the same clouds with the PVHE, but you just have to draw slower because of the better airflow. I really love my PVHES, I love to be able to have different cloud sizes depending of how I draw.

If I have to slow my draw speed to the same speed I can pull through a stock stem, then I guess I just don't see the point, I would rather save the money on the stem & not have to concentrate on slowing my speed & let the natural restriction do it for me. Just my humble opinion.

edit: also my point about mixing cold air still remains, I am convinced that no matter how you hit it with the PVHE, you will always draw thicker clouds using the same draw technique out of a normal stem because there is always less cold air mixing in, especially with the o-ring mod.

Like I said though this is just my personal opinion and not everyone will agree with me. All I was saying is if Ataxian is happy with his stock stem he might end up disappointed witht he PVHE is all, especially after 2 years of using the stock stems.

clouded vision I thank you for your honest assessment!
I just bought a LOGO Less larger Bubbler than my BLACK LEAF and I have a lot of GIZMOS.
I'll just stick with whats working for now.
Water Path has been my focus so I'll save for a plug in for my Bubblers.

The BLACK LEAF:http://www.planetvape.ca/black-leaf-8-arm-slitted-tree-perc-bubbler.html is a well made piece and works great with the SOLO.
My Water Adaptor is this one:http://www.planetvape.ca/solo-ground-glass-on-glass-adapter.html

Totally understand your point  For me PVHES are about having the choice to make bigger or smaller clouds depending of what I want in the moment. Just wanted to point out that you can also have BIG clouds with a PVHE GonG:

yep I have to agree with b0 on this 1000%. The cold air is also in your glass chamber that you utilize for smooth out the vape from the solo so the density is also impacted by the cold air volume in the GonG system that you utilize. So in that same idea you are wrong. Cold air benefits the vapor. Which I have noticed the draws are smoother from the PVHES then the stock. But to each their own... I will still stand by my experiences and say it was an excellent upgrade.

I never said you couldn't make big clouds with the PVHES and if that wasn't clear in my posts above I am sorry because you definitely can. Basically I would put it this way for anyone else reading this. Yes the PVHES do improve air flow significantly & if the milkshake type draws bother anyone they shoudl definitely get a PVHES because it will improve their experience with the solo but if you are already happy with the draw on the stock stems, and like to get the thickest clouds you can (mind you I can also pull small whispy clouds when I feel like it through the stock stem) than I would stick with the stock stems. Just different options for different types of people, after all this is all about getting the most out of your solo for your own personal preference.

I hate to call you out but once again you are wrong. the cold air in the stem gets mixed after the vapor is produced, not before & there is far less air in the stem than the PVHE channels let in & mix with the hot air prior to producing vapor.

With the prices so low ($160 on PV & as low as $120 on ebay) you should definitely pull the trigger, your only disappointment will be that you didn't get one sooner.
and to answer your question, yes I have the urge to buy new vaporizers all the time even though I am perfectly satisfied with my solo.

Ataxian, what model number is your silver one? It looks like your stem sits slightly askew in the solo & I noticed mine does the same thing or is it just the angle in your picture makes it look that way?
