Back in post #856 I wrote about thinking my Solo runs hot. I'm pretty sure it does and that there are some others that do as well. When I met StoneMonkey to try out the Cloud I asked him if he could bring his Solo with him so I could compare how it worked to mine. I never did get a look at his but when I told him I never used mine above 2 he said that was the same for him. Granted we both agreed that we prefer cooler temps than some others because we want all the good taste we can get but we also agreed that it was weird that someone would release a vape where you wanted to use a lower setting but didn't have one.
Note: for those who don't have a Solo there is a dramatic difference between setting 1 and 2 such that setting 1 is useless for vaping and settings 2 thru 7 are the ones that will vape.
I get good clouds at 2 and from what I've read a lot of you are using them at 4 or 5. I will often start hitting mine as soon as the second light comes on as I like the taste before it gets up to temp. As I said in my other post when it is warmed up at 2 it only takes a hit or two to turn my herb brown. I assume that is not the case for most of you though I'm still curious as no one responded to my post.
Arizer is happy to take a look but I've been reluctant to send it back as it works good enough for now and I don't want to end up with a replacement that has chipping or smell issues.
I mention the temp thing again for those of you trying to determine if the SS runs hotter than the ceramic Solos. I believe there can be variation from unit to unit that goes beyond which type it is or the health of the battery.
That sounds so different than mine, although by the sounds of it our preferences are very different as well which may influence both our experiences.
I can get visible vapor at 2 but I usually start at 4 (I don't start hitting it before the nr 3 light comes on, but I usually even wait until the nr 4 light has came on for the second time before I hit it. I find the hits are more dense and satisfying this way), I move up a temp setting every 3 to 6 (largish) bong hits. Usually when I'm about to turn it to six the 12 minute turn-off kicks in so I turn it back on again and continue where I had left off. When reaching setting 7 I leave it there and continue to hit it till it turns off by itself again, and only for the last two minutes the hits are getting thin enough for me to put the bong away and take another hit or two straight from the stem.
After those two 12 minutes sessions my AVB is close to black btw (I need the high temp goodies to be satisfied myself), but I really need to go to at least setting 5 for around 10 minutes to get it a nice brown. I always get at least 15 hits per bowl this way, but have done more then 22 from one. I feel this is more effective then using the Solo like a one, two, or three hitter like some of you do. I think I extract more of the goodies out of the mj and more effectively since your lungs can only take in so much at the time, my mj use has gone down 66% this way compared to when the Surfer was my daily driver.
This description is for when I use my Solo with a domed screen and grounded weed btw, mine leaves about half the bowl size left to fill with the domed screen. When using ungrounded nugs I use a regular flat screen and the total session takes another 12 minute cycle longer while getting approximately 35% more hits (flipping the nug over once about half way through the session). I only use high grade meds.
I'm curious if you'd be able to combust with yours on 7, you've never tried it that high?
