Dark-no need to go. It's all good. CDS my military VD stories weren't fictitious my friend. VD was rampant and the Army hated the Navy and the hookers loved us both so what's hard to believe. These were dirt floor whorehouses not Vegas with call girls.

Back to the thread. Pack a stem. I got to be good here lest I get a ticket from the mod. Hang in there Dorkus-the storm is over.

Back in post #856 I wrote about thinking my Solo runs hot. I'm pretty sure it does and that there are some others that do as well. When I met StoneMonkey to try out the Cloud I asked him if he could bring his Solo with him so I could compare how it worked to mine. I never did get a look at his but when I told him I never used mine above 2 he said that was the same for him. Granted we both agreed that we prefer cooler temps than some others because we want all the good taste we can get but we also agreed that it was weird that someone would release a vape where you wanted to use a lower setting but didn't have one.

Note: for those who don't have a Solo there is a dramatic difference between setting 1 and 2 such that setting 1 is useless for vaping and settings 2 thru 7 are the ones that will vape.

I get good clouds at 2 and from what I've read a lot of you are using them at 4 or 5. I will often start hitting mine as soon as the second light comes on as I like the taste before it gets up to temp. As I said in my other post when it is warmed up at 2 it only takes a hit or two to turn my herb brown. I assume that is not the case for most of you though I'm still curious as no one responded to my post.

Arizer is happy to take a look but I've been reluctant to send it back as it works good enough for now and I don't want to end up with a replacement that has chipping or smell issues.

I mention the temp thing again for those of you trying to determine if the SS runs hotter than the ceramic Solos. I believe there can be variation from unit to unit that goes beyond which type it is or the health of the battery.

@vapearts, sorry no-one responded to your previous post.
I cant help tho- I only vape at level 7. (beam me up scotty)

I think my sense of taste is broken. the only thing I can taste is when I occasionally combust with a mate of mine with his poxy ol bottle & hose bong.

& it tastes like shit.

other than that, lvl 7 & big ol clouds for me, the subtle nuances of taste are lost on me.

:peace:

dorkus, thanks for the reply. The post I referenced was followed by a good, long review by someone else and I think people were more interested in that at the time. No problem. Sorry to hear you sense of taste is broken!

That sounds so different than mine, although by the sounds of it our preferences are very different as well which may influence both our experiences.

I can get visible vapor at 2 but I usually start at 4 (I don't start hitting it before the nr 3 light comes on, but I usually even wait until the nr 4 light has came on for the second time before I hit it. I find the hits are more dense and satisfying this way), I move up a temp setting every 3 to 6 (largish) bong hits. Usually when I'm about to turn it to six the 12 minute turn-off kicks in so I turn it back on again and continue where I had left off. When reaching setting 7 I leave it there and continue to hit it till it turns off by itself again, and only for the last two minutes the hits are getting thin enough for me to put the bong away and take another hit or two straight from the stem.

After those two 12 minutes sessions my AVB is close to black btw (I need the high temp goodies to be satisfied myself), but I really need to go to at least setting 5 for around 10 minutes to get it a nice brown. I always get at least 15 hits per bowl this way, but have done more then 22 from one. I feel this is more effective then using the Solo like a one, two, or three hitter like some of you do. I think I extract more of the goodies out of the mj and more effectively since your lungs can only take in so much at the time, my mj use has gone down 66% this way compared to when the Surfer was my daily driver.

This description is for when I use my Solo with a domed screen and grounded weed btw, mine leaves about half the bowl size left to fill with the domed screen. When using ungrounded nugs I use a regular flat screen and the total session takes another 12 minute cycle longer while getting approximately 35% more hits (flipping the nug over once about half way through the session). I only use high grade meds.

I'm curious if you'd be able to combust with yours on 7, you've never tried it that high?

Hi everyone,
New to the forum and just wanted to introduce myself. I don't own a vape yet but hope to soon. I think I am going to be purchasing a solo or a mflb. Not sure yet....

Sorry if this has already been answered but I was wondering how much of a weed smell the solo puts off when vaping? Is it pop-corny like other vapes I have tried? How strong ect.....? Thanks

same as other vapes more or less. Certainly less smell than combustion but the odor is there. The Solo can produce big clouds and therefore has more odor than say an MFLB IMO. but it medicates you much more easily, effectively, and quicker IMO as well.

While vapes that can produce big hits are certainly more likely to produce more odor, it's dependent on the user. If you don't exhale a lot of vapor, there won't be much odor. Unlike some smoking methods, vaporizers only produce significant odor when you're exhaling a hit.

I get nice tasty hits at 2, I found going beyond 4 yields a burnt pop corn smell/taste vapor. Thumbs up for the Solo!

I also start at 2 and finish at 3, I find it browns very quick and after a few tokes on 3 its ABV. I assumed those doing it on 4,5,7 were browning in a toke or 2. I'm suprized to hear you getting so much & how long at that high of temps. :o

The grind and quality of the bud could have something to do with it as well as the way of packing (I pack lightly at most, but I do try to get as much product in as possible at the same time. if that makes any sense), but the difference shouldn't be this large. Even if I have a low quality bud compared to what I usually have I still get at least 10 to 12 hits from (half, domed screen) a bowl. Perhaps I just take it higher then you guys, try out me method if you like and please report back if you do!

OhTheAgony,
I get like 4 hits from a bowl but usually that is too much lol. I have been packing half bowls to just get two bangers and be good. I use mine at 5

OTA,
I use mine with a flat screen. I only use top grade as well. I fill it full which means it browns faster (I would have thought the opposite) and I probably should put less in. Sometimes it's a light pack some times a heavier pack. A medium grind, not fine like for a MFLB. I usually dump the ABV after 8 hits or so but I'm not looking to maximize the number of hits per bowl.

I just tried it at 7 for the first time. I didn't let it sit there very long after it reached temp. I took 4 hits to finish a stem that had been lightly browned with a couple hits at 2. The hits were thick and smokey not blue. It had that pretty burnt toast or popcorn taste - not to my liking. The ABV quickly went to the look of a dark roast ground coffee.

I think this says a lot "but I really need to go to at least setting 5 for around 10 minutes to get it a nice brown" as I can get a nice brown on setting 2 in 4 or 5 hits.

It sounds like vapeon and I have similar performing units.

Yeah, it definitely sounds like yours runs hotter. It sounds like mine gets the AVB about the same color on 7, but it takes mine way longer to do it it seems. So I guess we have found yet another inconsistency for the Solo. I'm still very happy with mine, but it's becoming harder and harder to recommend one to people this way. It sounds more and more like we really are the beta tester. I'm glad all this info wasn't out there when I bought mine because I would never buy one now to be honest, I'd just be terrified what I would get.

I use about the same grind as you btw. I don't pack the bowl tight but I do put so much in there that there's always a bit sticking out on top so it will get pressed to the bottom of the heating chamber when the stem gets inserted. I find the Solo works best when the product is in actual contact with the heater chamber and the way I experience mine I'd definitely say it's a 100% conduction, no convection at all, because of that.

And yes, the taste at higher temps take a little getting used to. I hated it when I first started vaping and thought I'd never be able to take it further then I did back then. Leaving my ABV a nice green still, but myself very unsatisfied no matter how much product I used. I guess you get used to it, I can even enjoy it now because I know what that taste translates to in my body&mind just a few moments later.

I like my ceramic solo w/ 2 hole stem better than the SS w/ 4 hole stem. Even with the 2 hole stem, the SS solo doesn't yield as thick vapor. I can deal with the airflow. I'm wondering if the ceramic retains more heat or something? It is definitely noticable.

I also get cloud after cloud after cloud at pretty much any heat setting including 6 and 7. Not sure how some of you only get 4 rips? Maybe I go further with my abv..

quick question guys, searches yielded me nothing.
i just got my solo in, ran it on 7 until it auto shut off, and now im charging it.
while charging (the green light is flashing) the idle blue light is on as well as the first and second yellow lights. is this supposed to happen? I think i read somewhere that the lights are indicative of the battery level while charging, is this correct?
