You must be more patient than me - I figure it might heat up a few seconds faster (less heat loss) if the cap is on - like boiling water in a saucepan without a lid is always slower?

You're definitely supposed to take the lid off before you let it start heating up. It's there for storage purposes so no dust or stray particulates make their way into the heating chamber and air holes. I guess it's more for traveling or living in dusty environments, I live in the country, where washing my car lasts all of 3 days (hopefully), so whenever I'm not using mine the cap is on, but definitely take it off before I turn it on. I can't imagine the heat on the plastic being good. In any case the Solo works best when the stem is saturated with heat. You can just stick the stem in and select heat and it heats faster.

Anyone have a m1e1 model? I have my temp set at 2 and after a session the bowl is almost burnt. Just recently got it as a warranty replacement too. Just wondering if this is normal for this model

This probably needs someone with a proper thermometer but FWIW:
1. Plant material with a lot of carbohydrates (eg plant euthanised too quick or not well cured?) might generate caramel dark at lower temp than low carbohydrate material - does this happen with all varieties you have?
2. I have 2 different solo models from about a year apart and in my experience, one consistently seems to require one or two temp setting levels below the other Both work fine - one at 3 and one at 5.
This surprises me because I'd expect thermistors like the solo has to be more consistent - both have excellent stability - just different calibrations IMHO - no big deal.

I almost always leave the cap on when heating; faster heating as stated above and also I notice I get better flavor hit (s), instead of letting the terpenes leak out over a long period of time

First post here at FC. I've had the solo about two and a half months. I have used it every single day, and it was an amazing investment. I've dug and dug and dug for information on this thing. I need a few opinions. Or tips.
-How do you pack the solo? Tight, loose?
-Do you grind your material? (in my case, bud)
-Do you use a screen? (Does it get clogged easily?)
-Have you encountered different types of bud giving off better vapor at different temps?
-I have also had a few "dirty" stems, how do you clean yours?
-People talk about re-vaping bud. Is that process even worth it?

Hi @HappyTraveler welcome to FC! I'll take a shot at your questions but keep in mind a lot of this stuff comes down to personal preference. So here we go...

1. I pack my stems fairly tight.

2. I use a medium to fine grind

3. I do use a domed screen (1/2") it does not clog too quickly maybe 8-10 bowls before I change it.

4. Yes different strains will produce more/less vapor

5. For cleaning I keep a mason jar of some 99% ISO and soak screens, stems, etc as needed then rinse with hot water

6. I push my bowls till they stop producing vapor so there isn't much left for re-vaping. I also think that would taste horrible. I do have about a half pound of very dark ABV here I've been saving but I haven't tried to do anything with it yet. I'm not a fan of edibles so it may end up getting tossed if I can't come up with an easy way to use it.

I always let my herb come to temp with the unit. Just put my finger over the end.

If I put the SOLO on 7 I would need a ambulance out in front of my house.

I use my NANO before bed!
SOLO's most of the day!

Couple of rips before bed with a well purged shatter with 7.4 volts will put you to bed!

This puts me to bed very deep sleep!

HappyTraveler, I usually like heat level 5, I have the older model Solo. Some herbs I use level 4. I prefer using the PVHES stem mouthpieces from Planet Vape, the draw is better for me, not so tight. Its my preference to put the loaded stem in the Solo while its warming up, I like a screen also. The grind of my herb is a cornmeal consistency. I would like to buy the newer model Solo in the future.

Does anyone know: I was saving up my ABV to make an alcohol tincture. Would level 4 be a good temp using the Solo? Also I just use the herb through one 10 min session, it's still pretty light in color. I don't want to take too much of the goodies out of herb vaping. I guess I want my cake and eat it too. Will my tincture be strong enough?

I thought I would use the Master Wu recipe that I found on FC. I omitted baking the ABV in the oven. Seems like a waste to do it that way. I know it's more accurate. Any advice would be appreciated.

30 grams a month for vaporizing is a fair amount. The rest of the colas just make shatter. As long as its well purged you WILL be fine.

I'm more impressed by a good grower than a guy who has $3,000 worth of vaporizers.

i dont weigh my crop but when i did 600g from a 600w was about what i was getting about 22oz per light every other month now i have to do a crop and stretch out my stash and cant grow as much when i had it i should have made some oil but that was when i was combusting and would smoke that 22oz would be done in 2 months
