Can I exchange the solo I bought from you last week for new one? The restriction in air is draw is frustrating, plus I also had to buy a PA!

@Kuzmich this is not aimed at you, rather the people who don't know what has transpired in the last 855 pages of this thread.
If your going to request a specific model I think you would want to request a ceramic, good luck with that.
If you think M1A4 is latest, Ive had an M1A4 for over a year now.

I encourage everyone who has got and older model and newer model solos to report the differences and similarities between the two units to help this community decide which one to get. The newer model solos seem to provide bigger holes in the heating bowl, faster heat up time, and able to charge and vape at the same time. I replaced mine because I thought it had heating issues and got an m1a1 unit. Now that I can compare them I will say that the m1a1 has smaller holes in the heating bow so I can get bigger fuller hits from this solo but opinions will vary. Now mine takes longer to heat up but its a trade of. If I would pick only one between the two I would pick the m1a1 due to the higher vape to air ratio I can per hit. But thinking back someone else might like the faster heatup time, easier draw you can get from the unit, and the no power adapter needed option on the newer solos. Its all a trade of and depends on what people prefer but all solos are amazing.

I'd be quite surprised it it didn't. I strongly smell a dead battery. The proof would be catching it 'pretty discharged' after a few minutes.
Since I have a spare battery pack (now), the first thing I'd do is swap them out.......expecting success.
BTW, be careful (gentle) with the screws, lots of guys break the little tabs off screwing down too tight or when the bottom isn't up snug first. Not fatal, but annoying.

Quick question, I just put on the o-ring from PV that came with my PVHES gong. I'm i supposed to screw the cap of the solo all the way down, or just until the o-ring is snug. Right now I have a gap between the threads and was wondering if this was normal. Don't want to damage anything by cranking down the cap super tight.

DO NOT crank it down. Just get it snug and your good. You have the thicker cap just like I do, which does not allow for the cap to be tightened down fully like the older models.

I suggest getting back up GoNGs or Stems. I feel like I've been close a dozen times or more of breaking the fuck out of my PVHEGOnG putting it in and taking it out or just adjusting etc... Screwing the cap in particular seems to put some stress around the area.
I'm honestly surprised my primary GONG is still fine these are so small, and have all kinds of divets and lines and the nodules, I feel like those introduce weak points into the glass.

Everyone keeps saying the serial numbers dont mean anything but if you go through this thread that is not true. Sure its not a guarantied way since from time to time we will hear about someone with a serial number that acts differently than others with the same serial number (was one case a few pages back) but overall there does seems to be somewhat of a pattern.

No, tops don't interchange always. I've had several and noticed this when I was investigating the fit issue earlier on in the ring quest. I posted a photo of the two thicknesses at the time:
For instance, those two caps didn't interchange. One fell off the others Solo, the other wouldn't thread on.
I didn't find a replacement for the 113 for the thicker cap, those thin enough to fit didn't grip. You can, however, thin down the 113 to fit. Either careful shaving with a very sharp blade or sticking it to some Gorilla tape and rubbing on sandpaper did it for me. IIRC you have to take a lot off, sanding worked best from both sides while shaving it was easier from one.
I also think you can file down the 4 posts that hold the heater in position enough so the gap is right again, but since the thick cap unit belonged to another guy I didn't try that.

all older solos have been the same until the "newer", "improved" models started coming out. They are all reliable units I believe. The "improved " units started with lot number m1c1 but I'm not exactly sure on that one. All older units have been relatively the same until the "new" and "improved" units started coming in beginning with m1c1 lot. Their all good tho

There aren't really. There are basically 3 models. First with ceramic lined bowls that chipped and were replaced with the SS version we now have. Along the line the way the 'battery meter' displays remaining energy and what temperature each step is was adjusted, but no real change from a user POV, just different settings.
Finally we seem to have a third model change where the charging/PA works differently which includes some hardware change (larger holes?) that seems to have lowered the temperature a bit, again no practical change in performance I suspect.
Against this is a lot of guesses and assumptions about what we're told are not model or even serial numbers but some production coding that's not always even in logical order? We've seen several cycles of someone noticing a different number and deciding it's a new model with some highly desirable (or equally tragically bad and to be avoided) feature. New is not always better, witness those who want the original ceramic bowl units now, which are only available used (and without warranty).
There are no units with ceramic bowls and the new charger scheme. Nor are most Dealers in a position to offer different versions, they sell what they have in stock..... Right now there may be some 'old version' in stock, but soon only the new version will be available if that's all Arizer is shipping.
As to the question 'is Solo worth it', I suggest there's many hundreds of guys reading this thread who think so, you don't get to 20,000 posts with 1.5 million views discussing junk.

Just took delivery of a brand new Solo, and I think it may be a dud. As soon as I plug it in, it starts beeping and the bottom and top blue and yellow lights start blinking alternately. Can't turn off the damn beeping by holding the up button. Already contacted the distributor- does this sound like normal behavior??
