Did someone say you could get the solo with the power adapter from puffitup for $190 ?

I guess it's better to get the PA if it gets alot of indoor use ? (save the batteries life ?)

Noob question--what are these things in the pic???
they are daisy screens or glass screens, typically you put them in the bottom of a bowl to prevent pulling the herb through, I'm nit exactly sure what ataxian is trying to do with them, looks like maybe keep the herb off of the heater
I am creating a convection environment.
Works pretty well and I like this better than the metal screen cones.
Kind of a indirect fire oven if you will.
Keeping some of the FLOWER from direct contact with the heater.
Just mixing it up.
There is not a perfect way only a way!

So I've been using the straight pvhes turbo stem for the past couple days since I've got it but I haven't got good results out of it. I find I get much bigger clouds with the stock stem at level 3, the taste is perfect with that setting  anyone else that didnt have good results with the pv stems?

With a turbo you have to pull super slow tis why I don't like it. For me it has way to much airflow. There is nothing wrong with it, it is just an option you have for a stem.

Ataxian, doesn't it take up a lot of room. I feel even if you pulled off the bottom of the daisy, which I assume you did, it would be like me vaping the other day with my stem half way out. I may try it just to see what you can possibly be getting but I can't see it working at all. I have a bunch of those so it will be easy to try. It would be the same as keeping the stem out though. I doubt the daisy's create that much heat that it helps at all.

Try pulling slower.
I've tried many things before I came to the conclusion it didn't work that well

So what a non turbo one be better?

Non turbo rocks but stock is good too. It is a personal decision. I have all the stems and like the straight PVHES the best. When my allergies aren't acting up the stock is just as good to me. I haven't tried my gong stem yet but I am sure it will be a very similar experience to the hes. I had to lay off the solo a few days as my sinuses are totally clogged and the solo hurts when I am like this. I switched to two diff vapes to replace the solo.

I have this problem too, hoping the combination of bong + PVHEGonG will be the new ideal setup for those days my throat is destroyed or otherwise in pain.

In general, I agree. Almost like Arizer might have tested this area when designing the Solo? Naw.......

While for most users the stock stems work very well, I think it's most cool that PV offers us such options. Sure they make a few bucks, but I think the big gripe is they're so often out of stock?

Any opinion on PVHES straight vs PVHES bent?

I think that's a highly personal thing. Vapor wise there should be no difference I can see, but I personally like the bent stems be they stock or PVHES. My advice would be to try the two stock stems and decide for yourself? Don't forget a GonG stem if you ever do the WT thing?

I noticed with a fine grind, and using a stock stem w/o ring going into a 14mm f/m of a bubb, the air flow is barely enough to get the perc to be able to do its thing.I mean like it would bubble but not really a trait you look for when using a WT. I did notice now that I have GonG PVHES,1.) i get very nice thick clouds, air flow is completely changed for the better. 2.)seems like its vaping more efficient with PVHES, had to manipulate the unit and hold it off the bottom of the heater w/stockie it was hard to try to leave that 1/8" of air space, the weight of Solo slid down all the way on the stem. The glass screens look like a good idea, please report back and let us know how that works.I am about to order some stock stems, and grab the dremel and see if i can just cut the air spaces on the bottom of the stem, dont think I'll try the sides. But the GonG really made vaping through my family of Jhan glass and PD rigs a treat.I must admit,I am still getting the learning curve down,Old habits are starting to break.

I did this yesterday,I turned it on 4, took some tasty rips thru a bubb but only pulled for about 6 seconds, Looked at my second hand ,held the hit in for 20 seconds, watched the heater recover for about 30 seconds(while holdin in hit) went back to it and did that and advanced heat up to 5,6..... until the unit shut down, no coughing, no monster rips but even so after 20 seconds, still visible vape coming out, and wow I got baked. So I am still learning not to go balls to walls when taking in vapor.I like the slower pace, smaller hits.I know I will on a more than just an occasion, load it up,turn it on 5 or 6 get it nice and toasty and pull away, and milk up a Jhan turbine ratchet (big can) till its ready to pour and clear the can and hold on,the black out comes in and out for a sec or two and then exhale this weather formation out of my lungs and NOW i am fully roasted and crispy on the edges and ready for the pollen man (sand man got fired, wasnt doing his job:ko:) I am so stoked about this place and all of its peeps,it wasnt this much fun even when I 1st discovered it 40 yrs ago:myday: There is so much good info and all walks of life chiming in with advice, places to get cool accessories, health advice, how to re-claim almost all of it,alerts to scammers we even have peeps helping out w the infections of VAS & GAS. I think it's a matter of preference.

I started with the bent stock stems and loved them until I broke 10 of them.
Went to the Straight stock stem and travel tubes and never broke another one.

The PVHES seem like a good ideal to mix it up.
However there always out of stock so I gave up on the ideal.
I use stock GonGs and SHERLOCKS to his day and like the smoothness.
My stock stem has a CHILLUM on the tip that I enjoy.
What I do is not the right or wrong way. (just a way)
I have seals to hold in my glass pieces from slipping out.
This is a very useful modification.
I will order some BENT STOCK STEMS before I order a PVHES. (now that I have the seals fitted)
We are trying to bring the FLOWER to temperature so we can vaporize the medicine inside.
Injecting cool air does not make sense to me? (please correct my science if I'm wrong?)
I find my SOLO'S to work fast and efficient.
I mix different glass pieces however maintain the trapped heat.
For me I don't want to inject cool air in to the equation of building heat to create VAPOR.

We all have are preferences.

Whatever works for you?
All Arizer products are made in Canada. Some of the glass parts are made in China, but it's a misconception that the EQs are made in China. I have to argue this point all the time, people just can't seem to believe such a good product could be made in Canada, but I have a close working relationship with the manufacturer and I can assure you that Arizer products are made in Canada.
I have hear this argument time and time again.

Who on the FC site has a computer?
Who on the FC site has an IPHONE?
Where are most of your household products made?

CHINA bashing?

Thanks if the PVHES bent is available when I pull the trigger, then I'll order one with the Solo. I've used the Solo with stock bent stem in the past and am keen on less restrictive airflow and the bent stem seems fine. I get that it's personal - some may prefer the straight stem. I'll also likely order a wood stem from Ed. No need for GonG as I'll only be using this when out and about.

I do want to make a decision on and get myself a portable. I was considering a concentrates pen such as the Dabbler or Omi Light, but thought it might be more prudent to keep to what I know and trust - flowers. The Inhalator XP would be my first choice for flowers for me due to its smaller form factor, but the XP is going through some growing pains. So, the Solo has moved into top slot. It's bigger than I would like, but it's proven itself as a reliable, reasonably-priced, effective flower vape.

Any opinion on PVHES straight vs PVHES bent?

My preference is for the PVHES straight stems.
  • I like to peer down the stem after each pull to visually gauge the vapor density in the stem. I'm not fond of coughing out a huge painful vapor cloud. If I can't see the 4 holes at the bottom of the stem (obscured by vapor) I pull a little shorter. Being able to see the holes at the bottom of the stem means I can pull a little longer. If I see two stems I know it's time for bed.
  • Slightly easier to clean. I find it's easier to clean a stubborn spot from deep in the straight stem if needed.
  • Works with the McDonalds cup stealth mode for traveling out-n-about (I just tried this out the other day) I'm thinking it gets a little hot in the cup.
  • Travel tubes. Awesome for storage, carrying stems in your pocket or otherwise protecting your stem when not in use.
I carry with me and use the bent stock stem as well. I'd guess I use the bent stem about 10% of the time. It tastes the same and I like the aesthetics of the bent stem setup a little better but the straight simply suits me better.

@ chimpybits, I am a little slow and a few beat me to it. Obi-wan told you mostly what I was going to say but let me add a little.
The bent stem to me is in the proper direction when using in some circumstances. It is like using a bendy straw as opposed to a straight straw which means you have to lift your glass or get higher in a chair to get a sip. There are pros and cons to every stem and as OF said use your stock stems to see which one fits your needs better. The huge pro of straight is the travel tubes if you plan on using them on the go. I wouldn't even consider a bent on the go although I do toss glass in my pocket unprotected at times. I have been lucky in not breaking any but it is a real risk. I have dropped my glass straws in the car but it isn't far and it falls on the thin rug which was enough not to break them. I hope this and what others have said helps you make a decision. Just know you will eventually want to try them all so buy them now lol:D.

Hey folks, me again. Good to hear planet vape does the solo for 160. I almost missed the promotion section.

Does the newest version of the solo have improved seals/o-rings to help with the stems? Or should i order some of the rings from planetvape.

Still tryin to figure out the whole pvhes deal

Hey Dreamerr, I get what you're saying here. In fact, you've practically convinced me to order a Solo with a PVHES straight and travel tube. It does make sense to try both the stock stems, then order a preferred PVHES. The additional shipping (of 2 orders) is only $8 - so not really a factor. A more significant factor is the greater satisfaction I suspect I'll experience with the PV stem.

If I can resist the all-in-one order attempt, is there anything I should get right away with the Solo?
- screens? I think I would opt for the standard screens that can be domed unlike the other set PV sells which "... are not oversized so they can not be domed and are thicker than our standard screens." Dunno really.
- O-Rings? I guess I'll have to read starting several pages back to learn more about these, but I like that they may offer the possibility of a tight-fitting stem as claimed.

I reckon I'm not interested in any other accessories from PV. I'll only be using in a portable way - enjoying my SSV (and soooon HI log) with water at home. So, no to any GonG and power options. The stealth adapter doesn't appeal. (Though a smaller portable vape for flowers obviously does, esp. a reliable Inhalator XP at this point. And I may later spring for a cheap concentrates pen such as the Dabbler).
Hold on ... f-Bomb Jet Diffused Micro Bubbler Tube?! Oooo. Oohhh. Stop. Post.

I have used the Stock stems for 2 years now.
Get a GonG adapator instead.
Do what you want just say'n!
113 rings are important!

Maybe I poor and ignorance?
So I try what I have!

I don't know of any change in seals. Adding a 113 ring is something we invented right here on this very Forum. PV picked up on it (bless them.....) and offer the right size and material. You'll probably want one eventually, I'd order it with your Solo to save shipping. Otherwise, they include one with PVHES.

My take on PVHES is to get to know the base Solo first using stock stems. Plenty good for most guys I think. By then you'll have a better opinion based on some experience.

I've tried the custom screens from PV, and they're nice and offer options, but my favorite is still probably 5/8 inch fine mesh SS screens slightly domed inward (back end of the Sharpie shape) with the center pushed down a bit after insertion. It seem the best at stopping debris but doesn't foul as fast since it sits above the holes a bit. I hook it out with a bent safety pin and flame it clean every once in a while. Easy.

Same advice on rings as above. If the stem being loose will bug you (and it did me when the bent stem would get a mind of it's own.....), I suggest buying them now and saving the shipping.

On the matter of carry, I use a hard glasses case to carry my bent stem in. With a small piece of foam to keep it from rattling. I can actually get to stems in there, and it's more compact than the PV carry tube (which I also like).

Maybe I poor and ignorance?

Boy, that's two things I'd never accuse you of. Funny looking, maybe, but not them two.
