Can anyone tell me the difference between the Turbo and Regular PHVES/PHVEGonG and if you have a preference? I'm not too sure what the description on PV.com means.

the turbo stem doesn't have the glass disk with the 4 holes in it, it has a small lip and a screen.

The regular PVHES/PVHEG have the same four holes that the stock stems have, the turbo is just one open hole, single bore.

What is GV? And as far as we know there is no difference between the models after 107 or at least no noticible difference. And no I doubt they are getting ready to release a new product the sales are more like the regular price now, they are always on sale

Right, gotvape.com They have a "Price match" option at checkout. I had actually found it for $149
at another site (that I had never heard of...), but GV did not even ask for my price match reference...
Looking forward to adding this vape to my arsenal. Now I just have to decide between the straight and curved planetvape stems..

I haven't really heard anything about the PVHES straight turbo but I was attracted to the design and wanted maximum airflow and a similar experience to a desktop draw, I ordered it today and was wondering if anyone had any experiences with it or any tips on how to get the best quality vapor from the unit with the new stem and how it compares to the stock straight 4 hole?

I've had at least 10 stock stems all broken both bent and straight.
The sole one I have left is stored in a travel tube.
The people who own the PVHES swear by them!

I feel for you brother - I've broken a fortunes worth of glass. I was ripped one night on the couch and the fucking standard wand stuck to my lip on a drag, pulled out of the solo and fell into my lap. I thought I lit my pecker on fire and burnt a fucking blister into my thigh! While sweeping hot ass ABV out of the crotch opening of my boxers I accidental flung the stem at my wife. That loyal but dumb love of my life ended up trying to catch the stem and burnt her fucking hand.

The moral of the story is....actually there is no moral, Ataxian - don't feel bad, your not the only retarded stoner among us!

I assume you meant 'silicone'? Silicon doesn't smell or taste (it's the major part of beech sand). I don't know what that might be, the only silicone I know of is the insulation on the wires which is not related to the hot part at all.

AFAIK there's none in there to taste. It's basically glass, metals and ceramic cement. There's a PTFE ring, but that doesn't smell or taste at the temperatures we're working with here.

You'll find a dab of thermal grease around the thermostat nestled under the heater plate too - that (IMHO) is another possible source of that wierd robofart taste/smell of a new Solo - most likely silicone based.

Anything is possible, but such compounds are made to not degrade over time.....to do so leads to failure since they're there for a reason. And if it was slowly breaking down over time, such tastes wouldn't go away you'd think? At least not for a very long time.

It's actually a thermistor (temperature dependent resistor) not a thermostat (thermally controlled switch), not that it's all that important.

Thanks for the reply, I may have just gotten lucky? Maybe it's because I am in Canada, who knows anyway I hope to be receiving the PVHES straight turbo on monday and I will reply back with my thoughts, I had just heard concerns from owners of this stem that complain of wispy vapor and particulate coming through the screen these concerns make me worry a bit I really hope I don't share their experiences and I hope it's all I expect it to be, but we'll have to see

If wispy vapor becomes a problem for you, try a slower inhalation. The regular PVHES has more airflow than stock stems, and the turbo PVHES has more airflow than the regular PVHES due to the single bore. PV has noted this in their instructions on the PVHES page.

The screen that come with the PVHES has a larger mesh than the ones I normally use and they do allow a bit more particulates to come through, although not to the point where it bothers me. If you plan on reclaiming I can see where it might be a concern. If it becomes a problem for you just change the screen with something with a finer mesh.

Ever since the day i got my solo i haven't touched my lighter, not even once!! i feel so dumb not getting the solo before. so glad not to be coughing up ash & feel a whole lot better.

gotta couple of questions, sorry if its been already asked or mentioned before but its not possible for me to read 556 pages in this thread, i already tried! lol

what does the inside heating area of the solo look like & how does it function exactly?

is there a heater under the ss bowl?

what we exhale & call vape clouds, what exactly is that if its not smoke & where does that come from with out even the materials burning?

sorry if those are dumb questions to some, i am a little soloed out

I'm gonna take a stab at the vape clouds. If you're puffing on weed, it's over 60 cannabinoids and some terpenes. They sit in these very sticky, waxy trichomes that, when gently heated, get released. Since most cannabinoid boiling points are under the spontaneous combustion mark (230˚C), you can use a vaporizer to effectively extract them. Basically, vapor is vapor. It lacks carbon monoxide and other bi products that are present in combustion.

ok that makes a lot of sense. so when your material is already vaped all the cannabinoid & trichomes are extracted, will still making edibles out of it have any effects? how much of it do you have to use to even get a effect? can that give you food poisoning & make you throw up?
