Have you guys tried doubling the screen in the turbo to add resistance, or packing your load tighter/finer grind? With the Turbo you have to adjust the airflow to find your sweet spot. I was putting 2 screens in and found it added a bit of restriction, making my hits thicker, but not so much restriction that it felt like a stock stem. Something to consider before just giving up.

I use cotton to contain my hash, adjusting the density of the cotton helped a lot.

It does work well, the thing that is great about the solo is that the charger(and solo) works at 100-240V so its good for US,UK and the rest!
All you need to do is to get a plastic adapter to it will fit you hole...a few cents or a pound at most (here its .60euros)

So if I just change the cable from the PA to the plug it will work in Europe? Nice to know that, I was hesitant to order from PV and was waiting for his answer.

I was cleaning out one of my solo stems yesterday and the air filter holes just fell out, like they were sugar glass. I was able to take my dremel to it and make my own PVHES in the end, but I thought that was odd, considering they are fairly new. I also broke my straight stem. I swear, I am a klutz.

I have broke 10 or more stock stems.
Tonight I dropped one on to the garage floor. ( I have to be stealth)
I pulled out the wood one and it is not the same as the stock glass ones.
I will get more stock stems and a couple of Turbo's to try as well.
The SOLO works well however if I can quit breaking the stems it would be awesome!

Ok I got a question and you won't believe it. I actually used to clean my solo stems...ok did you get up from passing out. It was easy through it in a jar of iso shook took back out whenever. Ok now my question, I keep reading about the golden stems and wanted to see if I can figure out how to reclaim. It isn't nearly as dirty as some of the pics I saw but whatever I put in now don't taste great and is way harsh. Ok now the question, is that why?

After I clean my stems with ISO they are crystal clear and the favor is enhanced.
Now we have a fresh new harvest in California and the Flowers are exceptional this year.
Outdoor grows still provide better flavor profile than indoor grows if conditions are correctly maintained..

Medicine verses Device?

I do not reclaim any thing.
Flavor is very important to me.
Even in Baking only fresh flowers are used.
Vaped flowers are disregarded.
I saved the spent herb at first however it ruined the taste of the food.
I found like with any recipe fresh is best!

im sorry, i read that a few times and i still don't get it.

is what why?

to reclaim you can do it to ways really.

1. scrape/heat it out and use it as is..

2. clean your tube in iso and evap the iso (I would filter it first before you evap mind you)

does that help?

I guess I am having one of those nights where nobody can understand me. OK if stem dirty will your vape be harsh and shitty tasting?

ahh ok i understand now, thx for cleaning it up!

that golden oil isn't bad tasting unless you combust by accident. (never happened to me in a solo, but i has in my ssv wands before. then then, the only way is to wash it and clean it properly.)

so no, I personally don't really find that to be the case... but I do notice the air restriction around the holes and even more so the screen will make it draw slower. but I haven't found this affects taste. the best way would be a side by side comparison. dirty stem with a clean one right beside it loaded with the same herb. hit the clean one first, and then see how the dirty one compares.

you may have more sensitive senses than I. who knows.


and yeah run the iso through an unbleached/metal coffee filter and then evaporate it. you will remove particulate matter by doing this and making your oil you collect better.

wow my brain must have been shut down duh a filter. I still need to buy one I can't find the shape I want to make life simple. Some don't have the screen on the bottom or to much plastic and I don't want to do magic tricks.

I will try that experiment tomorrow my throat hurts. I am checking to see if my other stem is clean totally if not dropping it in the iso for the night.

Anyways, i have an older version but i got it last year around this time. I only use the glass stem that came with it, are there any tips to reach the full potential of this vape?

if you are reclaiming wand hash (the golden gooey stuff inside glass wands like the solo stems and ssv/dbv wands) you do NOT need to filter. all the chunky stuff is condensed vapor as Vitolo explained it to me. it is ALL good to vape up. i have done it for myself and can stand by it. so Dreamerr all you need to do is:

1) place dirty wands in a small container of ISO enough to cover the wands. (I use a ziplock sandwich bag. i pour in the ISO seal the bag and shake it)

2) agitate the container (why i like using a ziplock bag)

3) pour out iso onto a glass or pyrex plate or pan

4) if stems/wands are not clean enough repeat 1-3

5) place plate or pan in a VENTILATED but warm area (i place mine in my bathroom with the fan on and i put the pan on a heating pad to warm it up faster)

6) when all the ISO is evaporated (all the liquid is gone) scrape the plate or pan

7) place the scaped up material in a bed of ABV or fresh buds and vape

8) sit back and enjoy!!!!

i only use a filter when i am making a batch of QWISO oil from fresh trim or ABV. then i agree... filters and i mean plural with filters are needed.

Get a wood stem ffs!

Its funny, I only broke 1 PVHES stem but like 10 elbows and 6 cyclobowls for the EQ (at least)

I have a wood stem and I lose the flavor profile I obtain from glass stems.
So I ordered 2 glass stems. In the meantime I will use the wood stem temporarily.
Planet Vapes were out of stock of the PHVES stems.
When they become available I will get one.

Thanks kind sir. I think he uses the filter just to speed up the process at least that was my take on it. I guess we will find out. I am reusing the same iso jar over and over. I have a vitamin bottle which fits my stems well even the ssv one. I put it in and can shake to my hearts content and no breakage. When the iso is really gross I will do the evap. I guess that will take months. I have one sitting in there now over night for todays clean vs dirty stem experiment. I really think the dirty stem made the taste bad and the vape harsh but I will find out in a few hours. It is way to early to vape if I am not going out of the house right now. If I am home I can hold off longer.

when i evap in my bathroom i place a rectangle baking pan (not sure of the dimensions as i am not the baker of the family but it is big) on a heating pad (the kind you use for neck or back ache) and set the pad to high (which is really not that hot). i turn the fan on and leave it alone. the last time i did it i had between an 1/8th and 1/4 of an inch of liquid in the pan and it totally evaped in slightly less than 24 hours. the key here is to spread it out over more surface area and the evap process will be quicker. in a jar the liquid is too condensed together and i would imagine it would take longer to evap

I will do the huge baking sheet that is a great idea to speed it up and the heating pad as well but doubt I will leave that on when I am sleeping. I use a filter for my ISO clean before evap..... but only because I use the same jar for ALL my stems & other items I use that are littered with sap/resin/trichs.

I've yet to try just evap'ing the ISO alone, as I like to collect my cleaning ISO over time and then do a qwiso run with some bud/trim when the mood hits.
