If you got one of the actual OG Solos that's a big score. The OG ones had real ac adapter pass-through use and hardly touched the battery at all, I would leave mine attached for weeks and weeks and barely any battery went down. All the newer iterations used and charged the battery at the same time which is terrible for it.
All this Solo talk made me bust her out after months of not using it. Battery at level 3, not too shabby. Feels bad that I neglected it for other options but compared to my daily drivers this thing is huge haha. Still giving big rips, still as reliable as ever

Ok so it's not the Original OG Solo it's probably OG MKIII because didn't the MKI have a ceramic bowl? Then there was a third iteration that has improved air flow?

Thanks. OK, let's see if I follow? You can charge 'normally' (but I bet very fast?) but when you go to use it it falls apart in not too many seconds? But you can start it and leave it at idle (no heating) for much longer? I smell one cell in the battery has given up the good fight. Or the pack has gotten very out of balance, which means pretty much the same thing.
Does it get even a little warm? I think the heater is OK, FWIW.
Have I got it right? Do you have another, working, Solo or another pack (even an old one)?

The Solo I bought back in 2014 is still working perfectly. Even the battery life hasn't degraded much. The wife wanted something portable for around the house that was easy to clean, good battery life and easy to work with. She was happy with our current portables for out and about and occasional in home use but had started commandeering the Solo more and more often so.....
We tested a Solo II for a little over a week when trying to decide whether to buy the Solo II or get another Solo. She preferred the Solo. We both had the same reaction... we felt that the Solo II had better battery life and a better form factor but the LED display was not a game changer for us. Maybe it was our getting used to the button temp function over the years that caused the preference in functionality.
This next statement may be controversial and your mileage may vary but the major reason we opted for the Solo was the vapor seemed better to us. We thought it was weird considering we were using the same stems as well as newer stems but there was a difference for us. Off the starting line the vapor seemed a little "fuller, more dense, tasty" with the Solo. Not a huge difference but enough to where we didn't feel like we were settling when we went with the Solo over the Solo II.
To each their own I guess.....

The biggest diff between the 2 Solos is increased airflow and better battery life with the Solo II. BUT I wonder if this increased airflow has come at the expense off thicker hits.
As my Solo II has yet been approved for an RMA and it's working ok ATM I did some side by side testing of the 2 Solos yesterday and there was so little in it. The Solo OG did seem to milk it up a little better than the Solo II for the first hit given a nice heat soak. And by turning the stem in the OG I was able to find a nice air flow channel that worked well.
Being analog there is a good chance the OG is less problematic than the 2. Time will tell.

I has to, no magic allowed here. Introducing lots of cold air not only robs much needed heat that would otherwise make vapor (it has to get to 400F or so or no vapor....) but even after it's heated all it can contribute is DILUTING the vapor that is produced with extra air.
This was surely tested 'early on' and the ports sized to control this, but we demanded more flow.....
So I can still get full, rich hits from my new Solo II (with huge ports, relatively), but only if I sip? The problem is controlling the urge to use 'blazing experience/logic' and expecting the extra air to feed the fire that isn't there to make extra heat (which doesn't happen).

Full points for 'function over form'. Not much likelihood of having them stolen.....
FWIW I'm still wondering what happens with Solo II packs in Solo I? Arizer has yet to comment (why would they rush to do so, they have Solo IIs to sell you know.......). I see no reason why it would not add about 50% (say four more sessions) to Solo I. And, of course, they'd have to sell them (too early for that, probably?).

I love this thing!

I think you persuaded me to pick up a solo one instead of the solo two, I will pick up a spare high cap battery pack and put that in storage.

My Solo arrived a couple days ago. So far, I am quite pleased with it. The past two nights, I've been running small loads (half-full) at low temps (settings 2 and 3). Draw resistance is modest, which was a nice surprise. Based on other reviews, I was expecting airflow to be very restricted. Warm-up time is acceptably fast. At low settings, the resulting vapor is so thin and cool that you barely notice it--until after sipping from the aroma tube for a few minutes you realize you're pretty damned high. ABV is evenly-colored and super desiccated. The unit is small but hefty, and feels good in the hand. My only negative observation so far is that the matte finish on the metal body is so smooth that it could easily slip from an inattentive hand. This is a minor issue, though, and well outweighed by this device's many positive attributes. If you don't already have one, grab one of these while stocks remain. I paid $135 (shipping included), and I reckon that was a heck of a bargain.

Bummer for sure. While I understand the urge to keep an old friend going, I tend to agree with the others, perhaps this is a good time to try an upgrade? Or, given the fairly minor advances, perhaps a (new) Solo I? They are getting mighty cheap and are just as wonderful as they ever were at their basic job.
For instance you could swap your covers over, tell everyone it's the same one you've been using since Bush was in the White House? Good thing you didn't use your real name if you decide to go that way....
I agree about this funny language we pinched long ago. Should have done more homework I'm thinking. The way they spell 'color' should have been a big red flag?

My wife thinks I buy too many vapes as well. She couldn't understand why I needed the Solo I as a backup. But we've been together so long she's not going to leave me because of that.
I'm lucky she's a great women. A bit like my OG Solo really.
