Arizer Solo

Had my Solo apart for repair, so I took some pictures to share. The heater is a simple device, just a metal disk inside ceramic. The sensor is similar. They are separated by an insulating spacer and another one located between the heater and the housing. I found the front panel and bottom plate can be removed from the mainboard with the right screwdriver.

Has anyone purchased from Vaporizers Canada before? They have the Solo for $160 CAD (after-tax, with the 4/20 sale). Just wondering if they have legit Solo's and the newest models.

I haven't seen that one before, I use agracan, they're a factory authorised dealer from Ontario and they usually throw in a little grinder and an extra stem. If you're in Canada it comes to $167 and change with tax. They don't have any ads on ebay right now but they usually aren't out of stock for long. I've been reveling in the debauchery of having 3 solos .

Picked up a Solo today for $107 shipped from a 420 sale (LighterUSA). Can't wait to try it out. my VAS is out of control....
I don't think you'll be sorry; if you have trouble getting enough of a hit don't be scared to experiment by gently rocking the stem, loading it looser or tighter, playing with the heat, and trying it through a bubbler. The bubbler and Solo pinned on 7 was my personal answer.
Happy 420 all you Soloists!

So, just received my solo purchased on 4-20 (whoop whoop). Did a couple of burn offs and loaded it up with some gelato. Heat level 3 and man, this thing rips! Incredible flavor, cool vapor, and nice visible clouds. By far the best vape I have used. It's actually a lot smaller than I expected. Perfect for sitting on my patio and chilling.

I ordered one of these things, http://www.dhgate.com/product/collinss-2016-hot-pipes-12-arm-percolator/379482499.html
thinking I might be able to use a keck clip to hold a sherlock/j-hook on the downward end and plug a gong and solo on top. I thought one of @ataxian's pics might have had an arrangement like that. Also got bored and ordered a portable w/gong the other day, http://www.dhgate.com/product/14mm-water-bub-bong-filter-adapter-mouthpiece/396638058.html just because someone said they'd like me to get them one. We'll see; he should be able to do this himself, and even though I don't use the pinnacle at home there may be a case for leaving one of those at work along with the 9". We'll see how it is when it comes. That little burst (along with the bubbler I ordered a while ago) doubles my compliment of water tools in one fell swoop.
Day after day I look at the FC forum portable vape board and I see Solo 2 bobbing up and down like a float in a trout pond, while Solo sinks slowly until out of sight and then on the way down page 2. It's like in the old Archie comics, Solo is Betty and Veronica (Solo 2), has used some trick to lure Archie to the dance with her while Betty stays home with her ailing granny radiating goodness and decency, and clouds.

Had a freaking EPIPHANY WITH MY 3 YEARS OLD SOLO!!

Loaded a fat pinch that slightly tamped made 1/3 of the bowl, like 2 or 3 millimetres.

Set on 7 and pulled 3-4 huge fucking convective hits like if it was a full bowl and then few more whispy and session ended in around 5 minutes with a light brown ABV with a browner spot in the middle

For all saying solo is mainly conduction the browner spot was in the middle, like a convection vape!

New fucking love for this old great tool. And hope it fails soon so I justify Solo II ;)

Better to load 1/3 3 times than a full bowl! For both battery life and flavour!!

Edit: restriction is way lesser too. Love this way 10 times more, microdosing and flavour are both improved

I get ya @Andreaerdna! Love me some Solo when used the way you're describing. I would agree with the mostly convection assignment for the first two hits IF you brought the temp to 7 and then inserted the stem. If you inserted the stem first and then turned it on and set to 7 there may have been enough heat applied to the stem's glass bowl on the way to level 7 so that conduction may have been the major contributor.

@His_Highness, that is what was told and i believed it but conduction/cooked taste cames as fast than a full bowl but abv, while spent, looks lighter. I do reckon I pull bowl out and in to check color of abv, so this maybe has cool down the bowl, but I put stem in from cold start

Edit: spent taste cames when vapor got whispy

Does the Arizer Air stem mouth pieces fit on the PVHESVortexStubby? Are the vortex 60 mm or 70 mm?

Thanks

While I've never seen one, I'm sure the plastic MP from Air does not fit.....it's all glass.

My Vortex is full length, but it's made of thicker (and therefore wider) tube. Caps that fit normal stems do not fit this one.

Perhaps someone will know how long the shorter one is, but based on the full size one I have it's really only like the stock stem where it goes into the vape.

I'm hitting a Solo and j-hook at work, and pre-heating the oven for a change, just to see if it makes a difference. Heats up pretty quick, aaaaaand 7. I let it cook for a bit but I don't think this is the way forward for me, the vapour just isn't there so I'll continue to heat it all at once.

I looked again the stubbys are 70 mm, that's a lot shorter then the turbo stems.

FYI I just phoned Planet Vape......they got all new stock in TODAY including the Vortex stubbys and should be in the system for sale on Monday! She says the stubbys get warmer but not to warm? Only way is to test them i guess.

I'm with you there. I figure part of the waiting gets done in the heat up. As soon as the cup gets hotter than the load. It 'gains speed' as the temperature difference gets greater. Sticking it in cold and waiting long enough could no doubt offset this, but who wants to wait when you could be enjoying?

I still preheat for a cold stem if fit is an issue, and I am ready to pull the hot stem out and cover it to more or less instantly stop vapor and 'save it for next time'.
