7? - surely no-one uses setting 7 on a Solo, I find even 5 with the WT can leave rather dark looking ABV.
Isn't setting 7 where all the bad stuff is?
@biohacker what are you pre-soaking the herb in? Scanned the posts can't see the wood for the trees, if you've said!
I pretty much use 7 (210c) exclusively with gong, although I have started experimenting more at 5 and 6. IF I use a dry stem I will use anywhere from 2-5, usually by creeping it up. I love 7 with the gong and water tool because i'm going for huge thick tasty white clouds, similar to my bong snapping days...my favourite way to medicate.
As for the "bad stuff"...meh... I purposely don't fill the gong all the way up, so it prevents any scorching, and 210c isn't very high temp actually in the grand scheme of things IMO, since most vapes i've owned go higher. I think benzene, toluene and other nasties start becoming more pronounced around 200? Maybe I should dial it back, i've been a high temp vaporist for quite a time now, I wonder how vaping at 200 would change things up....i have a feeling I just won't get as medicated?
I don't actually soak the herb in anything other than heat! It refers to "presoaking the biomass" in heat by turning the Solo on and inserting the gong, and then waiting for it to hit temp (7) and then giving it another 15-30secs BEFORE hitting it. That adds much conduction and delivers huge clouds instantly. With NO presoak, it's all convection but as such takes a while to get the bowl going and then you have the choice to remove from gong and continue convection hits, or leave it on and enjoy the conduction aspect.
I actually use solo at 7 dry, but only with my vortex stem. It is actually comfortable. I find a big difference in my mighty and solo, as both have their own place. Mighty has made me take quick sessions (with that 1 min timer and vapor leaking), but hits hard and now makes me choke. I never choke on solo even on max temp and can enjoy a nice session without worrying about vibration (I know I can reset the mighty with a click), but it's something psychological.
Totally agree they are both incredible but totally different and go about delivering vapour in different ways. As much as I love my Solo, it definitely is not the Mighty, and I must admit I do greatly miss putting .25+ in the Mighty, heating to 210c and then ripping it HARD - instant whitewall and super massive hit that I can actually kill in one go. I so wish I took videos back then when I had it, but I miss it so much i'm just waiting for a sale before I buy one again so it will be Mighty vs Solo videos!
