i would look at this thread :http://fuckcombustion.com/threads/joda-glassworks.13915/
And contact Vaped&Confused, he will make you a custom stem, with all your specifics and give you a quote.

Also, Planetvape.ca has some custom stems that i find much better then the stock. Though they are not longer except for the PVHE Vortex, found here: http://www.planetvape.ca/pvhes-high-efficiency-vortex-stems.html Which is brand new, and ill be giving my opinion once i get it tomorrow.

All very Solid advice.

Is there a good glass extention for the Solo stem or a longer stem? Looking for another 2 to 3 inches for the bent stem for slightly cooler vapor, but not a water filter.

I use this:
bentstem+tip.jpg

It's an EQ balloon stem. Connects with a piece of tubing. The smaller diameter feels better to draw on and actually seems to help on the draw speed. The screen was actually installed between the bent stem and the tubing, hence the "specks" are in the bent stem and not the extension. The grommet enables the bent stem to be used with the D020 bubbler.

The Vortex stem arrived .
It looks like they added an additional chamber below the
bowl , that contains a smaller channeling airpath . Which makes the stem
a little longer than stock , and it does have thicker glass . You can feel the difference
when holding the stock and vortex stems .

off to do some testing ...

Can anyone direct me to the most effective oil recovery method? I hate to request info that I know has been addressed, but 1283 pages is rough and searching didn't help. This seems to be the best idea, but I'm hoping y'all have figured out something easier.

Also, another thanks to you guys for leading me to my Solo and my beautiful Rasta Santa Cruz Shredder. Best purchases I've ever made.

That's the most effective way to get a usable end-product. I think some people use the travel stem containers, they're basically 2l bottles before they get expanded into the size and shape of a 2l. With some ISO and then evaporating. I have been able to just scrape it out with a wooden skewer or a bent paperclip. If you want to clean up the particulate from the ISO solution you could use a couple of wet coffee filters and a funnel to catch the stuff. I don't usually use ISO to clean up the product like that, I will just scrape it and put it in with some flower or maybe some cotton.

I think that might be the easiest (and also safer than ISO). How about warming the stem up so the condensate thins out then wiping it down inside with a bit of cotton on a long swab or piece of wire then vape the cotton. The 'trick' would be to not get fussy at getting absolutely all of it. It's going to get dirty anyway in a few sessions and not going after the last 10% could make reclaiming a fast and easy part of your routine.

Or you could just make some magic coco and think deep thoughts about how to do it next time.....

First let me say that torching the stem while hitting through a water pipe is very dangerous to the integrity of the stem and could cause permanent damage. No one should attempt it if they care about their stem's longevity.

Having said that, it can provide some glorious rips and I've still managed to break less glass than @ataxian in the process.

So I guess ive never experimented with spinning the stem while drawing or even paid attention how I insert my stems. Well I find out that diagonally lining up the four holes in the bowl with the four holes in the chamber gets the best results. How am I just finding this out? It makes sense, but why just now. Haha I must been absent the day topic was covered.

Always rock the stem ;)

You guys are tryna scrape the resin from the solo stem? Then what? Dab it? Eat it? Always thought it was more hassle than reward to do anything with resin

Bummer. You have to open it up. Remove the cap and carefully remove the four screw in the bottom. Gently push the works out the bottom and unlatch the battery cover. Unplug the battery for half a minute or so, I usually push a few buttons to be sure all the stored power in the electronics is quickly bled off. Then put it all back together.

Be very careful with the cover latches and screws. Be sure the tabs are solidly down on the body before you put the screws in lest you break the tabs. Don't screw the screws down over tight, they're tapered and will split out the tapered hole in the tabs.

Take it slow and easy and if you're at all handy you'll have no real troubles. BTW you need a size 0 Philips screwdriver at least. One of mine doesn't fit very well at all. I find 00 to be a better fit. Be sure to work over something, them bitty screws can make a break for freedom at any time......

Thanks again, but I've had it for almost 2 months now. I think I'll just order the back up today and as soon as it arrives send this one back. It still works after a couple of tries, but it's starting to lose it's heating power. It's just not the same anymore. Thank God for warranty!!

I'm new to the forums and can't start threads yet but I have a question if you guys don't mind.

I'm looking for a good portable vape for around $100-150. I would like something that has multiple uses but primarily dry flower that won't combust and burn.

Huge clouds aren't as important as nice clean and tasty hits without being scorched to death.

I've watched too many reviews on YouTube and I'm basically overwhelmed.

I've considered the source orb, ghost, arizer air and others. Each has their own pros and con's

Actually you can start a new thread I think, but this is not the right place for such questions. It's for specific discussion of this vape, the Arizer Solo. Although we might compare some aspect of it to vaporizers B and C we are not allowed to compare B to C directly here. I hope you see how that makes answering your question difficult?

That said, IMO Solo is a top choice.......but can't say over which and why per the rules.

You want to go a bit further down the Forums list to "Ask FC", post your question there you'll get a much wider spectrum of opinions as well.

Regards, and welcome to the fun.

Edit: I just checked, several 'what vape should I buy' threads already going. You could join one of those, or start your own:

Thanks!

I like the size of the air but the price of the solo seems better probably due to the fact it's older. How's the taste on it?
I went with the Solo cuz of price. Taste is awesome. Easily compatible with bubblers. The clouds dont stop coming and the battery life is good (IME 7 12 minute sessions). Look around at some alternatives but the Solo is pretty awesome for beginners and pros

If you're not toting it all over I think Solo makes more sense for many. Over twice the sessions and IMO easier to hold onto (the flats make it like holding a shot glass rather than a really skinny tumbler).

And while I can be a little clumsy sometimes, I think Solo is much easier to stand up without tipping over as you let go. Probably due to the wider base? Even at the same price I think I'd end up with more Solos than Airs?

And there's the price. You can pay normal price at PIU, get a backup from Randy when he has the next open box sale, a PVHES of your choice and still be bucks ahead. Two vapes that run 4 hours total between charges against one that does just under an hour? Good to have choices, but once again, newer might not be better for all.

You can, you just have to be careful about how you word things, not to put down a company unless they really deserve it (bholt pen ).

Biggest thread on FC for a good reason IMO. Been using mine consistently and hard for coming up on a year now, no sign of letting up. I think this is a great introduction to vaporizing at a fantastic price. Easy to understand and get the hang of and the taste at low temps is so good  I've got some amazing J-1 from the spot and running a stem on 2 makes my mouth water. There are better tasting portables: for more money, sacrificing portability, or both. My Solo tastes great, gets me what I need, and is portable enough to use anywhere from the kitchen to the middle of the desert. The only real downside to it I think is that the batteries aren't easily hot-swappable. You could carry a couple of charged packs around but then you have to unscrew it, take it apart, carefully remove the battery clip, place the new one in, carefully reinstall the hardware (making sure not to break any tabs), and then use it. Obviously the Air has it beat here, but at higher retail price, with less sessions, and one less temperature. I say one and not two because even though it's 7 Solo temperatures vs the Air's 5, the Solo's #1 temperature is basically useless (100 something degrees F) for cannabis.

Doing some whole-nug in the straight stem with the @ataxian chillum tip mod, flavor of this J-1 tho :o:whoa::haw:
