Arizer Solo

I just bought mine last week, serial number starts with MIG so I'm assuming this wouldn't work?
I had completely forgotten about the plug, I found this one instead:

Are you saying that the new model need the power adapter or that it doesn't and can charge while being used like a normal power adapter would do the job?

That should work for an old model, but it won't work on a new one. The new version does not run (true) PA, instead it 'charges while heating'.

Save your money.

Hi guys, sorry if this has been discussed before but there are 1260 pages to go through... :p

I bought an Arizer Solo about 5 months ago and it is one of the best things I have ever bought, although I now have a problem... There is no air flow even after I switched to the other mouthpiece which was unused up until a few days ago, so I know they are not the problem.

If I try to draw air through the Solo itself without the mouthpiece, obviously when it is cool, there is the same lack of air flow. Looking into it with a light the small holes inside are not blocked and I can not figure out what the cause is, nor how to fix the problem.

ANY help would be greatly appreciated!

Don't relay on the serial numbers they can be deceiving. You either have the newer 2014 model that can be used and charged at the same time or you have the older model that can't. Folks get too caught up in the serial numbers with the Solo.

@BingBong have you unscrewed the top cap? There's little tiny holes for ventilation in the bottom of the bowl. I've cleaned those out with a toothpick before. The stem isn't clogged? I would assume that would be the first thing you checked. You said you tried airflow without the mouthpiece. So you blew into the unit and there was no airflow? You should be able to blow from the top and get air coming out the bottom.

Compressed air into the vent holes, if you haven't got one of those cans use the air line for tyres.

Uzer: You did what was asked and then some. You're entitled to a new one or a refund. So far my customer support experience with the retailers and suppliers on this site and in this industry have been way above the norm compared to other industries. I have a feeling this is going to turn out fine. Please let us know how this works out. Good luck!

So I emailed PV on the 14th about the stem and trying what they suggested to remove the black streak and it not working. I expressed I wasn't really happy with the GonG I received. I never got a response. Disappointing.

Alex i have never personally done this in the solo but have in the arizer eq and what i did was mix it with some herb and put them both in my grinder. it worked out nice.

You can mix with the herb. Also try wrapping the hash in some cotton or hemp cloth if you can find it. I use herb or cotton in the Solo with my wax or shatter in the evenings with my bubbler. It helps with sleep.
7 heat setting with BHO herb sandwich??

Im assuming you need the highet heat setting to get the bho going?

Maybe email resolution during the holidays is backed up. Can you call them? I've seen this company and their products mentioned several times and don't recollect any bad reviews. I was getting ready to make the same purchase for myself but I'm holding off to see how your issue works out.

I have unscrewed the cap, the tiny holes you speak of are clear. The stem is fine, air flows through it as normal when it isn't inside the Solo. I even tried an unused stem and the problem is the same.

Actually I was trying to pull air through the solo, not blow into it, although I have now tried this and I can feel air coming from the bottom.

Compressed air into the vent holes, if you haven't got one of those cans use the air line for tyres.

I hadn't thought of this, I do not have any compressed air but as mentioned above I just blew air fairly hard through the solo successfully. If there was a block inside then it is no longer there, but I seem to have narrowed the problem down...

Airflow now seems fine through both the Solo and the stem, but as soon as I put the stem inside the Solo airflow is greatly reduced. I don't even have to put the stem all the way inside, putting just the tip of the stem into the solo causes the problem. I can't figure out why? Until recently this never used to happen!

Thank you both for your responses, by the way!

Edit:
On further investigation I do think the solo is blocked. Although I can blow air through it, if I remove the cap and blow directly into the heating chamber there is no airflow even though the 4 tiny holes inside are not blocked... I've double checked this by poking a tooth pick into them but it had no effect.

@BingBong Maybe you need to call Arizer or email them? You may need to use your warranty. I hope you bought your unit from an authorized vendor?

Good luck maybe someone else wants to chime in. Remember if you buy at Puffiup you don't have to pay for shipping the unit back. When you buy a vaporizer you need to think about what if something happens? The returns on portable vaporizers are pretty high. Maybe not so much for the Arizer products.

Any new vaporizer that's new to the market place could have some flawed units.

I'm with you there, Lady. I've been pondering on this and it just makes no sense to me yet. I was hoping 'hearing the same words in a different order' sort of understanding would set in. I can see no reason, nor indeed way, for a sudden change like this.

There are just too many leaks into the bottom of the stem that have to go wrong all together. More if there's no o-ring installed (which I assume was removed if it existed before?). Even that only cuts some of the leaks off the possible list.

The only thing that was making any sense to me was some sort of breakdown in the cup mounting, but the report that it happens as soon as the seal is made on the end of the stem blows that idea.

The only other thought is LOTS of debris being sucked into the bottom of the oven, but have to plug several routes in and it'd take a lot of spilled debris which would surely be noticed and build up slowly?

Be kinda fun to have it in hand to puzzle over......if it wasn't so important to the owner, of course. Warranty is probably the best call, otherwise we're going to need more information or understanding. Or experience, of course, but none of that seems available? Fun to be first.

@BingBong you may be on the right track, instead of trying to suck air in, BLOW into the unit.

With each successive attempt, you should find the intake becoming less restrictive as you clear the accumulated blocking particles. If that is indeed the case, something is blocking the airflow....

Best.

@BingBong You have a 2 year warranty on the unit so I would utilize my warranty. But first I would shoot Arizer an email and ask them the best course of action for you to take. I'm sure Arizer will treat you right. May I ask where you bought your unit?

The black ring around and just above the metal oven... I think Caligula had problems with one of his Solos that had this part sticking out... Have you tried taking a small jar like a nug jar and pressing down in it? Take the top cap off and place a bottom corner of the jar where the stem would go. It should push on two opposite ends of the grommet thing (where the red oring would sit if installed). I know two or three people talked about this...
