Yes, IMO too tight. I spent some time with them early on. OK cord (thickness) but very hard to get in sometimes Even softer they get off center and fight you before the mouth of the stem gets past. Every once in a while you end up having to pull the cap since once they slip off the crown of the oven (lip of the seal) they don't want to come back.
If the goal is stopping rotation (which was mine), it also missed since the ring then slipped with the stem. I gave up. A metric size might be a better choice if you don't like the 113???

Try this......put the o-ring on the end of your glass stem,on the bowl......insert it into the heater and then put the cap on......keeps the ring in place when screwing on the cap......i was able to get the cap almost all of the way closed........but then i couldnt get my @Edstnt stem in so i took it back out.....

That's exactly what I did, the cap still won't close all the way down.
It also would shift slightly when I have to remove the stem to clean/re-load it so I'd have to unscrew the top and reposition it again.
I'm also not sure if this Home depot O ring is designed to withstand high temperature, don't really want to sand it down making it even more vulnerable to melting
I had the same prob as well as other Solo owners. I think im actuallly lucky. I went my LHS and bought a SOLO replacement stem since i wanted a back up bent stem and it fits surpisingly well even after 20+ sessions. It has very little play in the crucible and usually only moves slightly when on temp 7. However I can still spin in if I choose to, it's just not spinning like 'The Price is Right' wheel.

I've managed with an oversize o-ring that I mount a little off-center, then put an attractive green rubber band around the lid threading and screw down the lid to reasonable resistance. The rubber band is enough to prevent problems if someone ever overtightened the lid (I don't). It's stable and keeps the various stems in place. I still use it mostly upside down to keep the oven clean.

@Rapspalooza I think these are too small, someone who knows what official size they bought can help you; all I remember is that the ID on mine when un-compressed is around 15.6 mm.

Guys, that's not the way it's supposed to work. There should be basically zero compression on that ring, any resistance closing the cap says the ring is too thick, you're risking breaking the tabs on the bottom off this way.........
The first might, you'll need to try. The second is way too thin for the original Solos. Some of the newer ones seem to have thicker caps:
IMO the most important dimension is the ID, you have to lightly grip the OD of the tube which his .570 inches or so. 113s at .549 nom were the best fit I could find.

The 2nd link I posted seems to match this pretty closely. Is this innacurate recommendation OF ? Should I go bigger (.549) like you recommended ?
I'm pretty sure the cap that I have is thicker one since the O ring i bought from home depot is too thick for me to able to screw down the cap completely. Can anyone that have bought/used the planet vape ring comment on the thickness required ?

I bought mine from toronto vaporizer, came with free grinder at same price from planetvape was why I got it from them.
If you're patient it might be on massdrop again for $133 USD, but you'll have to wait for a while for shipping and might get with duties
I just bought mine a week or so ago but as you can see from my posts an O ring is a must if you don't want to have an accident with the stem.
Extra fine stainless still screen (just get cheap $1 ones and cut it up) if you don't like debris getting in your mouth
I was also thinking about getting the high efficiency stem from PV too but I don't have too much air flow problem. I rather enjoy doing the slow sip

A part from the stem falling out why is there such an obsession on having a tight fitting stem? My bent stem is loose than the straight one but I don't care. I like to turn the straight stem when hitting the solo. I couldn't do that if it was tight. IDK folks complain about the stems being to tight to inset and then want them to stay tight once inserted.

The stem is meant to be loose. You can turn it around and rock it. Just need to be careful it doesn't fall out. I don't use the o-ring with my Solo. I place my index finger on top of the stem to help hold it, just like @poonman, it's out of habit now. That's what creates those big clouds the Solo is known for.

No, IMO that's not the right way to go, not so much the size as the material. Hardware store rings are generally softer (seal easier) and suitable for duty up to boiling water (100C), not near enough for us. You want high temperature silicone rubber, 450 or 500F (whatever that is in C), almost always red in color.
The dash numbers on 0-rings are basically a world wide standard, you should be able to get them in most places. A good source locally is often shops that specialize in hydraulic hoses, fittings and such. Big cities all have such places to support construction equipment, trucks and son on.
Otherwise you can do what I did early on, try a lot of Buna rings ('hardware store') to test the size. Just don't heat them. But if you start with the -113 specs and the OD size above I bet you can sort it out. The big thing to remember is to not clamp it with the top, only grip it. You don't want to 'crank down to tightend it up', other problems will come up.

My only concern is the possibility of the stem falling out......for me its only the bent stem,which i use the most,that is super loose......but i also find that the best technique is to "play" with the stem while drawing to get the biggest clouds......which is why i ended up taking the o-ring out......

That's a potential broken stem and waste of sweet sweet material! I have a neurological disorder that gives me a hand tremor and loose stem is just an accident waiting to happen

@CarolKing @ataxian Super Silver King (Super Silver Haze x King Louie 13 [KL13 is actually a stabilized OG Kush pheno]) in the Solo tonight. Feels mostly sativa with a not-as-pronounced body high, taste is interesting, a good Haze base with some pine taste but the exhale reveals a spicy earthiness on the tongue. Cough is delayed about 10 seconds after exhale, you think you're good when you pull a nice thick rip and a few minutes later you're wiping sweat off your forehead

I ordered a D020 from DHGate because it was a perfect match for the Solo.
The bowl for blazing was missing. Didn't really need it, but sent them an email anyway. I was pleasantly surprised to find the part in my mailbox a couple of days later. I am impressed!! Inexpensive glass with good customer service!

@Ed's TnT wooden stems may be your solution .
Also , when you can , try swapping stems over soft surfaces .
ie ; your lap , over a pillow , carpet , couch , towel ...
I prefer the loose stems for easy exchange of loads , especially
for long sessions . Keep in mind , if it's tight to insert , it may
be tight to pull out , causing minor spillage .
For me , it's a little adaptation to enjoying a fantastic vape .
I hope you will find the perfect fix for your situation .
