honestly try the stock bent stem. arizer engineered those stems shockingly well. if you have never tried it just try it once. loose pack 7/8 full.

ya the only thing is i feel weird when i use the solo with the stem on top. i tend to always use it upside down or sideways if that makes sense...cuz I'm a bit paranoid about herb just sitting on top of that heater (even though i have a screen on my heater).

so when upside-down, that bent tube is very awkward and i feel like it puts lots of stress on that bend. but after i get my air, i will probably get a bit more experimental with the solo.

Well not you personally, but it sure sounds like the battery has packed in. It could be the charger, but it sounds more like battery degrading to me.

I'd think about another battery first.

With a new larger cap battery your trusty Solo will be Lazarus rejuvenated. Easier on the wallet than replacing the unit, first.

this price is definitely doable and i wonder if i would actually prefer to clean this or just get a new one at this price...but i like my stuff to be as clean as possible...depends on how much work goes into cleaning this thing.

I prefer a bubbler to use with the Solo. I have the Pinnacle Pro WT and the D020 Bubbler, I prefer using the bubbler. The tube style your head is facing down. With the bubbler your head is at a more natural position.

Just my preference, nice to have both. The Do20 takes an 18mm GonG. The Pinnacle Pro WT uses a 14mm.

As I said a few posts back, I did have the experience of having the water siphon(drain) into the Solo. Sizzle--Sizzle!! The thing that saved the Solo was the weed in the gong. Slowed the flow just enough to keep most of it from getting into the electronics. I thought I had killed it once, because it would not turn back on after drying, so I disassembled and dried over night. It was fine the next day. Resist the urge to "try it" until it is completely dry. Most electroncs these days are not damaged by water, but current running through water is another thing.

This siphoning problem seems to happen less if the tube is not filled as much.

Cleaning is easy. I just rinse it out every time or two it is used and refill. When it looks a little cloudy I use Everclear with some salt. Shake it around, let it soak, dump it and rinse with water.

Remember The cheaper the Chinese hydro tube the more likely it is to leak or blowback water into your solo. I tried a couple of $12 dhgate pn style HTs and they both dripped into the stem. My Pn style tube from GBD and original VB tube don't leak at all unless overfilled.

I probably wouldn't buy from that seller considering they've made 0 transactions and have no feedback. As for filling and emptying, its pretty easy. Just pour in or dump out the water through the top. I haven't had any problems with water getting into my vape, but I only fill it to just above the holes. As long as you don't fill it too much you should be fine.

Why do you have a screen on the heater? I don't see the need for that. Herb can fall out but it never burns.

ok so i never shopped on dhgate before but i did use a site called ioffer, which i feel is probably similar (cheap stuff from china). i always wanted a bubbler but didn't want to spend that much money (since i would probably only use it like 3x a month). i did a search for "bubbler" on dhgate and found these options.

Why do you have a screen on the heater? I don't see the need for that. Herb can fall out but it never burns.

to keep it somewhat less gunky and just for my own OCD reasons. plus, it doesn't hurt & i love how it performs anyways, so why take out the screen?

You are filtering through water! Don't really think this could happen, but if it makes you feel better; simply wrap the gong ground glass connection with plumbers tape. This way there is less chance of the ground glass joint sticking also.

not trying to get into all of that stuff here, but sometimes i use water pieces without water in them (i did that with the cheap bong in the picture a few pages ago...it helps really power through the stems quickly instead of having a long, drawn out session).

My understanding is that Arizer does not include screens in their package but when buying from PIU I was given Screens, Silicone Rings, Acrylic Grinder and Free 2 day priority shipping. Randy is pretty good about spelling that out in the deal and printing it on the invoice he emailed to me immediately. Knowing Randy/PIU I'd be surprised if you didn't get the same trinkets I got.

The screens are used to cover the draw holes so you don't end up inhaling tiny MJ particles.

i actually just bought one from dhgate if you search "perc tall 7.5" glass bubbler" and its from a seller called "risingstar" or something like that. no reviews and no feedback but cheapest price (came out to $25.xx).

i paid with visa and i know that if anything happens, VISA will fight for me...it looks like dhgate also has protection like eBay, so i have at least 2 layers to use if i really need to. PAY WITH CREDIT CARD ONLINE AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE...they are like a team of lawyers on your side (never had to use this service yet, however...but i remember getting educated about all this stuff in a consumer behavior course).

i have bought a few things from china and i trust them. absolute worst case scenario, I'm out $26 = not the end of the world (even though i don't consider myself rich).

as for learning how to use it (the one i just bought looks exactly like the one you mentioned), it should be easy...just connect your solo stem to the top (has to be one of those stems with the 14mm or 18mm joint unless you can rig up some kind of easy adapter) and put your solo on the top of the stem upside down. thats it!

Nobody is to start, I think. But it's easy enough to learn if you have good gear, like Solo.

And there's no 'right way', only some ways that work better than others. And that might be different for you than me, very personal in the end. You need to experiment and see what works best for you.

Take it slow, one change at at time. Repeat stuff you like. Easy and fun...... Enjoy the journey.

Ok it looks like the DO20 is the winner. I order everything thru credit card so that should be no problem. Randy is on the hunt for an adapter for me because I explained about my throat and he goes the extra mile for his customers. And if I don't get that right away I will fly out of this house to buy one real quick. Can't wait for Friday; remember part of the reason I am doing so well with my throat is there is no weekend partaking unless there is a snow storm. Then it's a must because southern girls HATE snow.

I am going to make a last ditch effort on one of yingman5 pieces but it's out of stock. It is true that for the small amt of $ even if it's not the best you're out $20 bucks not $200

The Solo is the easiest to use of all my portables. It's ready to go after an initial 12 hour charge. Start at the lower temps and see what works best. I use a med to a fine grind. Some folks use whole nuggets. We all have our own preferences and our fav temps. I like using the bent stem the best.

You will enjoy the true taste of the herb in the vapor flavor.

What I did to combat this is put my finger in the intake and lightly pull down. Too hard and water will definitly come out but this is a nice way to test the water level.

@akwardsauce you should check out the cheap glass thread. I used the D020 from sunshine glass and its a great match with the solo. I havent used it but I believe the GB-187 would also be a great match as well. Both bubblers have very low resistance.
