I'm using my four hole stock stem with my Solo, it's more wobbly (I don't use o-ring). The air flow is great. I'm not using a screen they clog up so fast. I'll just clean more often. We really don't need the PVHES mouthpieces with the newer model. I do like the open hole of the turbo stem, you have to use a screen with that. There's a beveled edge that holds the screen in place. I prefer a bent stem over the straight, just my preference.

Just for the fun of it, I've ordered some glass tubing and I'm going to make my own stems for the Solo. I'll use the upside-down basket screen idea from the E-nano. 5 tubes at 11.5 inches/ea. I've seen a glass tube-cutter, too. I gots me some ideas.....
That's a cool way to go. How are you going to install a screen? I was going to use surgical steel nose rings to wedge the screen between. They would not stay in place....
Have a bag of them now if you think you could figure something out.
Have you ever used an E-nano? Epic Vape uses a movable screen in a long glass tube that is shaped like a "basket" or "bucket". But in the e-nano, the "bottom" of the basket faces the end you place in the oven. I'll search for a photo. In any event, you use a chopstick to help place the screen in the tube.
Here is homemade one next to a factory-made one. I'm way better at making them now. I use a copper fitting the same size as the inside diameter of the tube (in this case : 3/8ths"). I found a wooden dowel 5/16ths ". So the dowel is 1/16th smaller than the fitting. The screen fills up the 1/16th when you hammer the dowel into the fitting. Friction keeps them in the tube. You could make the bowl as deep or as shallow as one wants.

So yesterday I got my latest version of Pipe's stand. It came with right angle adapters ending in the same connector the factory charger uses and also one with the more normal 5.5 X 2.1mm (two adapters). More options.......
So thus far I've not been able to take advantage of the prior Pipes stands for the Solos I use daily. They are both products of serious patching on the base plate and have washers in call corners making this a little taller than normal. Where Pipes uses small diameter pads over that hardware, I build up the entire base with neoprene or felt such that the built in connectors don't reach high enough.
The new versions addresses this and the sometimes troubling fit around the body. It does this last bit by cutting down the lip the Solo has to fit inside to about 1/4 inch and putting a 'shelf' (lip really) inside to catch the Solo. It was very easy to put the adapter and Solo in place, use the hole in the bottom to be sure the connector was solidly seated and put a dab of hot melt glue in through the hole to hold the adapter in place. I then took the Solo out (when cool) and from the top added beads of glue to make the installation more stable. It works great!!!
The prior efforts were good, I think, but this one is great. It seems to have solved the problems uncovered with the earlier efforts (including the odd ducks like me that have non standard base dimensions.
Full points to Brother Pipes on this one, IMO it's clearly a winner. If you're at all interested in the idea of a stand I say it's time to carefully consider this one.

i know glass blowing is an art....was no disrespect to anyone!Plus my 2 vaporizers are Arizer!I'm going to keep the glass stuff to the people that know what there doing!I feel like I recked both stems!I'm going to get one of those PVHES when there stock again

I really like the Pipes Stand too. The Solo sits up a little higher and the elbow piece fits nicely allowing you to charge standing up. The new design is black with dark and light grey accent tones. It will go well with either the black or the silver Solo. The colors remind me of the look of vapor clouds. I took a pic on the previous page.
A nice accessory for the Solo and it will protect the bottom from chipping. Very nice addition to my vapor accessory collection.

Hopefully the affixing of the connector poses no problems. It was the easiest solution to provide the option of using non-OEM chargers. Or setting up a second charge station..?

I personally can't stand the curved stem. I let visitors use it
the straight stem just seems easier ... but that's just me. I think on the battery thing ... with my next solo I will definitely do the full extra charge thing. I never need more than a full charge to get me thru a days vapping but be nice to know I'm getting the most out of my battery life.

I have a total of 3 Solos. Two of the newer models. I just bought the third through Puffitup the out of the box sale for $50. They sold out quick. So both stands are on my Solos. A little Elvis strain ground up for the evening session. The @Ed's TnT 18mm 3 inch WonG on the left that's the newer version of the stand. It reminds me of vapor clouds.

I've learned a huge amount from this forum and just wanted to share my Solo setup. Improvised WPA from broken bent stem using a Home Depot rubber screw cap with a hole sliced, and a hi temp Solo o-ring from ebay. This is attached to my VB2.0 water tool. I also used a flat screen in the bottom of the stem, and a domed screen over top of the material to prevent herb from falling into the oven, as well as forcing a more pure convection experience.

Works well, I use and have been spreading the word that Epicvape E-Nano stems/gongs work perfectly in the Solo. I strictly use EV gongs with my Solo, and it's fun to experiment with adjusting the load sizes with the basket screens. Can adjust it so tiny that it's great for 1 hitter quitters!

On the topic of alternative stems, I am looking for a solo stem to vape concentrates for a low grade medicinal effect. I currently use an eclipse 1 dram vial and it fits well into solo bowl, but I need it to be ~ 2 inches taller. basically ~ 3 to 3.5 total inches in length. One end needs to be closed.
I've used medical silicone tubing to extend the vial but it is hokey. PV doesn't seem interested in making it for me. Just hoping for suggestions...

I must have older stems and gong for my Nano,none work with the Solo. Now I have to go look on epic site.
how do your stems fit into the solo? I've had mine and only used the straight stem and it fit snug and I could turn it upside down without a problem. Since then I've lost my straight and tried the bent stem for the first time and it is very loose and wobbely and falls out if I turn it upside down.

Yes, they are all different. The Solo's built in gasket will tend to stay at the largest size you insert.
That gasket can be gently pushed down back to a tighter fit. But you will find that is only a temporary fix.
Arizer does not consider loose stems a flaw as designed that way.
The solution which has been used with much success is the use of a high temperature O ring which provides some friction to hold the stems in place.
Search out o ring in this thread and you'll find lots of info.
