Long time listener, first time poster and I'm a vape noob.

Started with the MFLB and fell in love immediately. Got the new Solo yesterday and fell in love all over again! Guess that makes me a vape ho :brow:

I figure I'm all set for now. I'll use the Solo around the house and at places like a hotel when travelling and use the MFLB for sight-seeing trips, bars, walks on the beach, hiking, etc.

Compared to the MFLB the Solo is so smooooooooooth and tastes way better. The MFLB makes me cough at times but the Solo was like silk even at level 5. I think they're about the same in terms of efficient use of herbs. Both will be saving me lots of money compared to combustion.

There is a tiny bit more potential for waste with the Solo. After I turned off the Solo the glass was still heated enough to cause some minor vapor to be created. Do you folks turn off the Solo and then keep drawing for a minute or so after?

I've been reading up on the o-rings here and still can't quite connect all the dots. I received a few of them with my Solo when I ordered from PIU. Are the o-rings just pushed down into the bottom of the heat chamber? It almost sounds like some folks are modding the heat chamber somehow.

Welcome aboard friend. The o-ring helps to stabilize the stem, so the stem won't slip out as easy. I prefer not to use an o-ring - use your own judgement. Make the Solo to fit your own personal needs. I secure my index finger on the stem when taking a draw. It's just habit. I also have a wooden stem for those occasions when I need to medicate on the trail or in the garden.

When finished with your session there is still a couple more draws left when the mouthpiece is still hot. If you want to save the light ABV for later take the stem out of your hot unit and lay it on something and vape with it later. There is no right or wrong, just suggestions. Some folks don't have anything left after their session. Your ABV might be black and spent. In that case toss it out.

There's usually directions along with the o-ring. I'm not very handy fixing things, but even I was able to figure it out. Very easy for the novice.

The o ring does not go in the bottom of the oven,it goes under the cap of the solo and sits on top of the oven to keep loose stems from spinning/falling out.The easiest way to install it is to unscrew the cap,insert a straight stem thru the cap,slip the o ring on the stem from underneath and GENTLY snug it down

First off, howdy. Welcome to the Forum and all the fun. Great first post, hope to hear more from you.

As you've already figured out, two great choices! There are some lame vapes out there, but those two are on the other list for sure. Well done, you.

I don't buy into the 'vape ho' idea, if it's valid you're certainly in good company IMO. Lots of us appreciate saving LOTS of money oh herb and being able to live a longer, better life avoiding all the nasty stuff in smoke. Others blindly blaze on.......

Yes, there is residual heat that will still make vapor. Some guys 'suck it cool' (although many don't care for that). Some also pull the stem out at the end of the session. I tried both, but gave up when I realized that if I didn't suck the vapor out almost all of it re condenses right there and is available when the heat returns. Some guys crave 'wand hash', having a little mixed in with the remaining bud when you power up for the next session can't be seen as a bad thing IMO.

I think CK has it nailed. Try different techniques and go with what you like best.......'It's all good'.

Thanks for the welcome and quick reply folks!

CK - Unfortunately I didn't get any instructions with the o-rings and the little instruction booklet I did get with the Solo wasn't very in-depth at all. Maybe 2 pages at best and most of it just describes the LED indicators.

OF - Never dawned on me that the residual vape would just stay with the herbs/bowl and be waiting on me for the next session unless spent. Makes sense since I understand vapor is heavier than air.

BOBCAT - I think I get it now...Without instructions saying so in the package I couldn't tell the top of the Solo unscrews off.

It could hold the power for the whole day.
The first hit tastes fantastic just like from a glass desktop.
It gives nice clouds (for a portable!) and the stealth adapter makes it look like a thick e-cig. :D
ABV looks nice, only hotspot are by conduction from the oven.
I like its feels and looks and the minimalist LEDs and buttons with maximum and usable features.
Beeps are good when you want notifications when you can release a button without looking but you can turn them off.
Loading last temp is also handy (but i think it can't be loaded right on startup when it shows the battery level first)
And the ryot case is fantastic for makign this really portable.
It can carry and protect the Solo with a straight mouthpiece, a stealth adapter and a GonG adapter.

Just realized that when I sent my defective unit back for replacement, I forgot to keep the orange o-ring that came with my PVHES stems. Got my new unit, and the stems are loose as all getout. Anybody know what size o-ring I need, and can I find one locally, like at Lowe's?


Edit: Also looking at those Ryot cases. Wish they provided more pics. Anybody have some pics of the interior of that Solo case?

SO, Solo enthusiasts, I thought I'd share my pics of my Solo case, and a couple I found online.
First of all, here's how I have my Ryot case set up ( @Maine420 , you asked about this) :

Thats the 12 volt charging cord in the top middle, grinder on the right. AC charger on right of bottom half.
You can get this case here, although I got mine in a shop.
I also wanted to post something that looks pretty good that I found happenstance online.

That's a case that I haven't seen in person, unlike the first, which is mine.
This one's available here. Also a stainless steel version here. They look like a book on the outside.

So, there's 2 cool ideas for Solo cases, was reading earlier posts showing cases, so I thought I'd show mine and this one I saw.

Blessings to all you Solo users out there! I personally highly recommend the Ryot case (1st pic) from first-hand use. Durable and everything fits perfect as you see in the pic.
Comes with lock to keep toddlers out.

Some info on the secret vape case (the book one):

-I own one for my MFLB. The sell them for a number of different vapes (they just change the styrofoam)

-The lid does not close flat as I thought it did. When I had my mflb charger in, there was a gap, and I think it'll be the same issue with the solo unit itself, since it's not flat.

- the "compartment" for extra accessories is small also, and you have to take out the styrofoam first.

As for stealth, no one can even tell or even bats an eye. I call it my "Deathnote" haha

Hey guys. I've used this site for reference many a time, but now I'm actually deciding to join in on discussion. Anyways, I had a Solo for about half a year, and I absolutely loved it. Decided to run with it as much as possible. Got a GonG to attach to a bong, got adapters and pokers and all that stuff. Kept the entire kit and kaboodle zipped up in an Ikea bag, it all worked great. I decided to get out of the game for a few months with classes starting back up, so sold the whole shebang to a friend. Anyways, the year's been going well and I want back in something fierce.

This time though, I want to make sure I do things right. I LOVED the Solo, it worked great for car rides and such, but I'd say about 90% of it's use was in-home attached to my bong. Would you guys recommend sticking with the solo (as I'm heavily leaning towards) or perhaps going for an Extreme-Q? (After their fantastic warranty service, Arizer's my brand). Also, I'd need to pick up a new bong.

That's where things get a little difficult, for me, as i'm pretty ignorant to a lot of bong terminology. I simply grabbed one with a mostly-upright stem from my LHS, and because the base wasn't wide enough and the stem was more like a 60 degree angle than a 90, I couldn't set the thing down. I want to fix that. Also, a lot of the fancy scientific add-ons and perks look really neat, but since i'd almost exclusively be vapebonging would they even be necessary? Basically, I'm looking at these four bongs here right now. Which one would you guys recommend? Do they even look like they'd have enough clearance for the solo to attach with? Think it'd stand upright? I'unno, which is why I'm turning to the experts.

And lastly, if I do end up going back to my Solo and bong setup, I'd need a GonG. Should I wait on Planetvape to open up and try and get an order in as quick as possible, or just place an order with JoDa Glassworks?

So yeah, thanks in advance guys, and sorry to bombard you with this wall of text and my ignorance.

I love the SOLO and my Log.
You may like a Bong style mouth piece at the moment?
In the future when your taste are more refine you may prefer a smaller mouth piece?

I have a 2014 Solo and was using it with a PNWT, and I have only the stock stems to compare these GonGs to.

So, I tried dry hitting through the GonGs, and comparing the ABV to the stock stem's, and I could not see any difference. I also tried just letting them roast for a full 12 minute session without any hits and the two bowls were, to my eyes, indistinguishable.

The slightly flared end makes for a slightly tighter "initial insertion experience" at first, but just angling it a bit gets you past that and then it slides right in like you've given it hours of foreplay. Generally, they fit the same as my stock stems.

I ended up with one at about 2.25", and the other two at about 2.75." Long and short? Short and medium? I dunno what you'd want to call it. I liked the extra stability of the shorter one, but I found I liked the longer GonG more simply because it was much easier to disengage the PNWT from it.

An extra half inch can make a real difference... ;)

I preferred the airflow of the basket screen GonG as opposed to the stock stem.

I tried using the Solo inverted and at an angle, but found that, like my stock stems, the GonGs would slide away from the Solo sorta awkwardly. I much prefer keeping the Solo right side up.

I found that when using it with the PNWT, I prefer to go up to level 6, rather than my old "dry at 5" routine.

So I don't have any real criticism to offer here. I received exactly what I was hoping for, and my Solo sessions have become much more enjoyable now with the light filtration. The GonGs really accentuate and enhance the Solo's ability to be one heck of an effective medical device. And stoner tool. :ko:

Few more days into the Solo and it's still amazing! I actually haven't used the EVO since getting it.
Not that the EVO is not fantastic, of course it vapes better than any portable and amynbe even desktops...
But the Solo is just so amazing. Cordless, fast, tasty, powerful.

I can open the case,
turn the Solo on,
select 7,
take out a preloaded stem,
take down the cap,
put the stem into Solo,
the Solo is already on temp and...
...I can pull for about 30-60 seconds and extract everything.
Turn the Solo off,
wait a minute or less for the stel to cool down,
reload and recap the stem,
put it back into case...
...a sesh so fast the battery doesn't even go down a seventh!

And I've heard going down that bar is only 50% of the battery life on new units.
I can't even go down that bar :D
So I can't see even needing the passthrough charging, I can just unplug it, have a fast sesh and then continue charging.
Vaping cordless is way better than having it charged like 5 minutes sooner...
...well, that's probably the reason I didn't use the huge desktop EVO since.
The bent stem still fits perfectly and it's still also my favourite (luckily).
The stealth stem still fits ok and I still love it for public vaping because it doesn't look like electronic crack-pipe :D :D :D
The GonG stem still rotates freely, but doesn't go up and down and works well but I don't really use it.
The straight stem is still the worst, rotates and goes up and down completely freely even with the o-ring installed which is annoying.
At least it can't fall out because of some lip or something on the very edge. That also makes it difficult to put it in or out which is also annoying about that stem.

The Ryot Case is still fantastic. I'm taking back any difficulty getting the Solo out - you just have to grab it by the top and bottom no the sides so it slips out :D
I also successfuly tested carrying a bent stem plus a stealth adapter along the Solo in the Case. I like this combo.
So I disproved vapefiend's claim that you can't carry a bent stem in it (even a more bent one could make it).
