Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!I just use flat screens. I honestly don't find a need for the domed ones. If u want less material I just pack less and bump the heat up 1 notch to make up for the extra distance between load and heater.
Okay great! You don't have any problems with your loosely packed herb falling onto the heatsink?I've never felt like I needed a domed screen, I've tried it. It works either way for me. I think having too much coming at a person at one time can be overwhelming ( Johnny) I would leave the Eds stem as is.
I usually pack mine almost to the top loosely filled, just a slight tap on the top of the herb. When I'm done with a session I take my stem out of the Solo. I then can go back later and finish. The stem is extremely hot. I've burned myself more than once.
Not everybody does it the same, we all have our own rituals. Do what works for you. There's no right or wrong. I love getting great ideas that I've never thought of.
Have fun trying out new things.

Pack it too tightly and with the restriction of the Solo (more with the older models) it can cause headaches from trying to pull so hard. I think the restriction the Solo has works well to balance airflow and not overwhelming the heater, a good guide. Packing hard on top of that is going to lead to an annoying session, at least for me.Okay great! You don't have any problems with your loosely packed herb falling onto the heatsink?
Also, why doesn't anyone ever pack it tightly? Why is it always loose? Does packing tight cause airflow restriction?
Yeeee buddy!!! STOKED NOW! I'm gonna get a nice dome screen going, load up 0.05-0.1, and blow some fucking clouds! Think I can get some big clouds with that at temp 5? (from stem and bubbler). I don't want to go to 7 because I don't want to get couchlocked or sleepy!Pack it too tightly and with the restriction of the Solo (more with the older models) it can cause headaches from trying to pull so hard. I'd say try it yourself but you'd really see what I mean when you try to do a whole session pulling on it so restricted. Pack a stem well and put it in your Solo, don't need to turn it on but try drawing at various speeds. Now imagine doing that every single hit you want, for maybe the whole 12 minute session, probably 2 full sessions to actually vaporize all of it.
And the dome screens get the material closer to the heater, which is what you want.
Yuuuup, I get solid clouds with ~.08-.1g whether through my bubbler or dry. I actually start at 2 usually when I vape dry, to really savor the terpenes (the chemicals that give it the taste and smell), then bump it up to 3 and 4. Bubbler is usually starting at 3 or 4 and all the way up to 7 depending.Yeeee buddy!!! STOKED NOW! I'm gonna get a nice dome screen going, load up 0.05-0.1, and blow some fucking clouds! I highly recommend them. they come with a flat screen but have laser etched slits on the sides to increase airflow.
I don't want my herb falling onto the heatsink and I feel like this would be a good way to prevent that from happening.
That's how I do it, yeah.Okay great! One last question! (you know I had to, it's my nature )
When using the dome screen, should I put a flat screen on the side closest to the heatsink (on the other side of the herb. the herb would be squashed between dome and flat screen)? I don't want my herb falling onto the heatsink and I feel like this would be a good way to prevent that from happening.
Hahaha You made me giggle haha that's some good shit. While excellent accessories for some/many I think the grooves are ground (probably probably with diamond). Laser cutting glass doesn't work that well, glass transmitting rather than absorbing light. If you look close you can see tool marks I think, not the fused surface laser (or other heat) working would leave?
And while I'm in a quibbling mood, it's not a heatsink.....in fact just the opposite. It's a heat source, it brings heat into the system. Heatsinks remove it.
I wouldn't fear to much touching the metal with herb, it's not fatal. Some don't like it, some don't care. IMO you should decide which group you're in for yourself......
Just enjoy the Solo?
Regards.

By the way, I don't know if I could even tell if stuff hits the heatsink ( ) or not. But I still would prefer it not to
Boy I love the Solo's heatsink.Glad to hear it, keeping you amused is one of my goals you know......
You can usually spot where herb has touched the cup, it'll be much darker at that one point.
BTW, it's still not a heat sink. Heat flows from hot to cold. Source to load (or sink if you prefer). A detail, I agree, but attention to details can lead to understanding, disregard can prevent it.
Perhaps you should intentionally try it?

(I got it the first time, just screwin with ya )
do we have to fight about this OF?
Ah come on OF, take a chill pill (or pull). It's just a joke man loosen up.Please don't.
TIA
No fight. A technical point....about the correct usage of a technical term. I'm looking to promote understanding here, not "just screwin" with guys trying to help......

No. You dont need to worry too much about herb touching the crucible. Follow caligula's way of packing your bowl and it will be perfect. Putting a screen on top of your herb only puts space between the heat source and your herb imho. A domed screen inside the glass stem pushes the herbs closer on the other hand.Okay great! How do you like YODA?That's how I do it, yeah.
I'm waiting for my solo to arrive. Have had many vapes but pretty excited about this one. So many choices out there it was a tough decision. Came down to PN pro vs Solo. I think the solo will fit my needs.
VaporCloud, I have the Pinnacle Pro and the Solo. I think you made the wise decision. You will not regret your purchase. May you spend many happy hours together.
I like what you wrote.
+1 @vaporcloud I too have them both and can assure you you made the right decision... My PnP gets used only when I'm outside and need a stealthy way to vape. I would never choose it over my solo given a choice...
