No you have it wrong. Out of the box Charge it for at least eight (8) hours then do your burn offs.

You can put a screen in the stem to keep bits of flowers out of your mouth or you can just put whole nugs in the stem. Some people make a domed screen to save on herb. Just use a pen or something like it to make a dome and put that in the stem-or notSo I got my Solo today
I've heard of a screen trick... where does the screen go??
Out of the box run 2 or 3 burn-off cycles at 7 (don't charge, run it down and then charge it all the way up)

Are you serious, 8 hours?
I didn't need to charge my Solo for 8 hours when I first got it. I just charged until the green light was solid. Did I screw up my Solo battery?
yeah honestly i burned mine off one session, then used it for 2.5 sessions, then charged it. got 7-8 sessions out of it before i had to charge it again. did i fuck up my battery? my solo arrived yesterday and i LOVE IT.
Yes, he's serious. It's rude to ask a guys advice then question it IMO. His advice is sound. 8 hours is 'playing it safe'.
Yes, seriously.
You should not have done it incompletely, but far better than not doing it at all. As I understand it, not doing so doesn't lead to earlier failure as much as it reduces the potential capacity in each charge. Sometimes called a 'forming charge', it puts all the available material in play?
There's probably little damage from doing it after the initial discharge, but I'm not sure there's much to gain. In that position I'd give it the 'overnight treatment' (8 hour charge). At least several hours after the charge light goes off. The goal is to get the weaker one up to full capacity. Charging shuts down when the total of the two cells reaches the setpoint. This is sure to happen in one before the other no matter how closely they're balanced. The idea is to use the 'trickle charge' (perhaps more properly a 'search current'?) to bring the weaker of the two up as far as possible.
If the goal is 'the most' or 'best procedure', I think that advices is it. Fully charge before the first use, 8 hours is a good number. I won't speculate on less, that's a distraction IMO.
In routine use I recommend discharging until the lights are gone when you power up, then use it at most one more session before recharging. Don't cheat there, you're playing blind in a game where real battery damage comes from deep discharges. Check the level on each power up, go one more after the lights are gone but no more. Recharge until the top light is lit then end it while the charge LED is still flashing when you can. Every time you can do so you get at least one more 'free' recharge cycle. Seriously. You get maybe 300 cycles (at say 8 sessions per) going to the top, stop 10% short and you double the cycles. Drop another 20% and you double it again. Taking conservative numbers that's 300 cycles times 8 sessions per for 2400 total against say 1200 cycles at 6 per for 7200. Three times the total use. Check out the area around table 4:

Ok so I should only begin the burn-off cycles after I unbox & charge for 8 hours?
That would be my advice, yes.
Frankly, I'm not all that sold on burn off cycles, having tried with and without, but see it as 'chicken soup'. You know, 'can't hurt, might help'? IMO some vapes benefit from it, this is not really one of them.
If you're going to blow off one or the other I strongly recommend fully charging over burn offs.

As said before me, no problem shutting it down manually mid-session, but remember you still have at least one (maybe two) hit(s) left after you shut it off, still producing effective vapor. One other question, can I just smoke say half a bowl (for 6 mins) and then come back to it at a later time leaving it in the solo/stem, or do I have to go the full 12 minutes and empty the bowl before turning off the Solo?
I really don't see how, maybe disconnecting the battery manually mid-session would damage it, but when you press the two buttons to shut it off I think it does basically the same thing (on the software level) than when it turns itself down after the usual 12 minutes.does anyone know if its bad for the battery to turn your solo off during the middle of a session?
does anyone know if its bad for the battery to turn your solo off during the middle of a session? When I'm in a hurry and only want a few hits, I tend to only use my solo for half a session and then I'll manually turn it off when I'm done..
So what is the best website to get the Solo again? Price + Warranty is important to me. My main concern is being able to have the battery replaced because I know they can go bad quickly.
I see you also have the MFLB. The AA battery caps fit fine. What do folks do for stems-on-the-go? I have corks handy, but they are bulky. I'm thinking maybe using balloons as stemly condoms.

As do lipchap stick lids etc. but keep in mind to let the glass cool a few seconds befor capping.
You could order some MFLB caps or PV has high temp silicone capsCaps didn't come at the time I bought my MFLB. In fact, my 1st one has no diode: no light.
I tried Chapstick caps: too small. Too small for the bowl size: the side I want to contain
