I have a large chip that came off the bottom of my Solo where the little screws are. I see a crack coming out from another screw. This is my new Solo! My older model doesn't have any cracks and I've had it for 9 months.

I will keep my eye on the bottom of this one Solo, I may need to return it. Thankfully I bought it at Puffitup.
Got an o-ring in there? It pushes down on the base of it so that might be it. It's pretty much a cosmetic issue which OF and Pipes have solutions for.

I'm not using an o-ring on this unit. I think I've had this unit about 5 weeks. I will just watch for now.

Eventually I will probably have to send it back. It's not going to hold up, the area with the crack will probably chip off too. It's so close to the edge. I noticed the chip last week, it has a bit of a sharp edge to it. I noticed the crack on the other screw just today. I have not taken the bottom off the unit either and I haven't dropped it.

I've been using the unit on the go a lot because of the Eds wood stem. I put it in my bag and go, too much wear and tear, I guess. It's not like I ran over it with my car. If you know what I mean.:\:dog:

I have a real treat for ya'll.
Heater M 107- 84485

expanded view
heater and bowl assembly with some heat reflector material.

original point of failure with the solo, tempature sensor wire striped itself when something caused the wire to turn red hot, which resulted in melting the insulation material. and a solo failure.

Hi, first time poster but manage to get here looking for that heater pic, I'd like to know how easy was to pull the heater out of the "plastic" casing (third picture) and the heater disc? and what trick did you use? I disassembled mine and tried to pull it a little bit with some pliers but I was a bit scared of changing the shape of the bowl and render it useless. Any tips? Another thing I notice is that you have 2 clear wires going to the heater, I have 4 of them 2 going to the "daughter board" (the one underneath the heating element) and the clear and blue that goes to the mainboard.

one of those 4 wires is kind of loose and wanted to re-solder it. I can say I'm highly skilled in electronics and have working on small electronics and such for a long time it is easy for me so shoot me hard! :p

TIA

Just got a replacement Solo from Arizer, model M1T0 (Am I the first person on interwebs?).

I put my old M107 through two years of hard usage in extreme temperatures and conditions (fishing, boating, car rides, parties).

What a great company. Their customer service is ridiculously good. Without a doubt will continue to buy their products.

There were four wires there, same as yours and all the others. The two heavier ones are for the heater, the smaller two the temperature sensor. That's what died in the heater in the photos, the wire lead on the temperature sensor. I believe he's chipped out all the heater cement that holds it together, I seriously doubt it recovered from the surgery.

Why are you trying to open yours up? I don't think Arizer ever intended that. Is it not working? If it's not, and you can see one of the leads broken by all means try soldering it, but it should be fine unless someone screwed up the soldering in the first place. Being loose is not a problem normally.

Good luck with it.

My + temperature wire is a bit loose it pops the IDLE blinking issue, when I fiddle with it just a few mm's it then stops blinking and works as supposed. I also have the random shutdown issue thanks to this, I do have the warranty but was trying to avoid the $40 I'll be spending on sending it back regardless if they charge or not for shipping as this is in international soil. And being an electronics tech why not do it myself.

Yeah, first person in the thread to report a T lot Solo. I seriously doubt, but are there any aesthetic differences? Heater looks the same? How about the airflow holes?

Yes, that's the other annoying minor problem. Mine has two chips around the front two screws. This one is only about a month old and was well cared for. I do use the "o"ring, but I don't believe that caused this. It seems to happen regardless.
Seems such a simple fix from the standpoint of a company retro fit. Easy: another layer of plastic cut the same shape with all the appropriate holes for power, screws and ventilation in it. This could be attached with the proper glue. Seems that plastic on the bottom is too thin to do the job, so this always seems to happen.
An added benefit if Arizer actually did this, is serial numbers could be retained(or changed) and the right power configuration could be printed on the bottom. Presently the power info does not match the newer Solo configuration.

Anyway, I regard it as a minor athsestic thing. I won't send it in on warranty again because I love it dearly:love: and can't bear to be without it again.

i would not recommend taking the heater out of the plastic (mica), there is no reason to do so (?) and I don't think that it would ever work again seeing how the cement is destroyed in the process. I did that with a solo i acquired with from a friend to take apart and use for parts, after i salvaged the battery i wanted to see what the heater actually looked like, so i pulled it out with a pair of jewelry needle nose pliers. It required a very large amount of force to remove. I would not take the metal bowl out! there is no need
as of said, there is no recovery for that solo

Nvm, I was the third person ever to mention it according to google. BlaineWarbler was first on grasscity (03/14/14), "m1t". Torontoke was second, and first to mention "m1t" on FC (03/26/14). I was first to mention M1T0 though. :p

I only have done one half bowl so far, so I am sure there are more differences that what I've noticed so far (compared to my M107):

- Looser fitting stem (Using PVHEGonG. But maybe my tight fitting M107 wore the glass down?)
- Warm up time seems faster
- The "slight delay + beep noise" now takes half the time.

I have no idea about battery indicator, which I hear is suppose to be more accurate and encourage recharging.

Alright!! that was spot on what I needed to know thanks for sharing. I won't be taking it apart :( my geek inside really wanted to do it... I guess it won't be happening anytime soon.
Thanks!

I bought the Silver Solo. I used to be a newspaper photographer. Reminded me of a fine 35mm camera like a Nikon or a Pentax with all the LEDs and all. Nice feel...smooth finish.
Looks at home sitting in an old camera bag:

Hi everyone!! I'm looking for a super baller stem for my solo. I tried going back and reading through the thread but it's so long and I couldn't find what what I was looking for. Is it pretty much Planet Vape and Eds stems? I want the best.

well you said it right there planet vape or eds. your choice durability with eds and wood, or function with gongs etc from planet vape, Puffitup also sells eds stems. If you want to be a so called "baller" id suggest either a blackwood ed or something from dc glass they make jet black glass solo stems they look bad ass just last time i checked they were out of stock

Try the Ed's Granadillo you can use it as a stem or a wong if you want to use a WT. A two in one mouthpiece. I bought mine at Puffitup but you can order them off Eds TnT website. Look at the sub thread.

Solo is here, finally. Just had my first small bowl after 2x 12 minute burn ins via Ed's custom blackwood shorty. Sublime. Also I burnt myself because I'm a clutz. Really impressed so far with direct draw. Gave it a short try with the bubbler as well, but it feels to restrictive to me.
More testing is required but so far it feels like I've found the perfect portable electronic vape for me.

hey guys, i posted in this thread around page 998 concerning my solo not charging properly. well im glad to say arizer sent me out a new one for free covering all costs, and it arrived just today. i have a few quetions before i get started vaping.

so the solo is brand new, should i charge it first? or use the charge up and then re-charge it fully?

can i connect the vape to a bong? would sort of bong would work best glass im guessing..?

should i smoke and vape on the same day? ive been smoking everyday for bout a month so my tolerance is fairly high, will it still be high if i start vaping? as it is a completely new form of taking weed? hopefully haha

ive gotta go pick my sister up from college and drive to pick up an O, so ill be back in a couple hours. Peace

Congrats, welcome to the "burned myself on the stem of my Solo" club ;) attaching to water paths can be a bit restrictive for me as well, since the glass stems don't sit flush in the Solo they let air in. Try putting your stem in and pull it out a mm or two, should help with airflow. Maybe line up the notches on the stem with the air holes?

Charge all the way first time.

Yes you can connect it, PlanetVape is out of the GonG attachments for your Solo, look back some pages for Pipes' picture example and make sure to read my post afterwards with the stem warning. Material of bong is unimportant as a Solo won't differentiate between acrylic and glass, though I prefer smaller pieces myself.

Stop smoking for a week or two and stick to vaping. Vaping is much more efficient than smoking.

Charge it all the way up the first time, before you use it. After that the consesus seems to be to charge before the red lifgt comes on when depleted and take it off the charger before the green light goes solid. I encourage you to read the thread though, lots of good info.

I told my brother it was a stud finder. He bought it. How about one of those "No-No"s you see on TV? Sounds like we should have a contest: "What the HELL is THAT THING ya got there?

When out and about I usually have it in a camera bag, looks almost like a lens or light meter, but being in a "legal state" I don't worry that much. Except that I'm am old hippie and try to be incognito, they still can harass you if you drive (stupid 5 nanogram threshold).
If I'm sitting in my car at the casino, I use one of these McDonalds' cups:

How exclusive the search for the portable that is just right for you is. Constant disappointment marred with a sadness that you will not find the perfect fit. For now in this time &day the solo is my perfect fit. Sure there may be a few negatives I can state about this device but it's battery size and vapor production blow those statements out of the water. Don't even get me started on durability ;)
For the foreseeable future this will be my go-to portable. Such a blast taking this guy hiking.
