Arizer Solo

Hey guys got my Solo a couple days ago and used it Friday night at a party for the first time and it was awesome! I also wanted to chime in on the model number issue (sorry). I have a m1a4 and I have confirmed with Arizer support that this is a latest model. I've tested it and it can be used while charging. Arizer also stated that they reuse model numbers, so it is not a good indicator of the "latest" model.

Anyway I wanted to ask how much should the vapor "taste"? I'm vaping some juicyfruit and there's a really distinct taste afterwards, which just continues to get unpleasant as the bowl is vaped. I'm assuming this is normal but I really don't enjoy that taste. Also will rubber o-rings work to secure the stock straight stem? I heard to get silicone, but the home depot here doesn't stock silicone so i have the rubber ones right now. Should i bother ordering some silicone ones online or nah?

All 3 of my SOLO's have a 113 seal from CARR McMASTERS!
planet vapes includes one with a PHVES STEM as well!
There is a thinner seal for the new version of the SOLO.

Some of the more qualified member's know better than I.
I'm just a medical patient that loves the SOLO!

No, the rubber ones are not made to be used at temps put out by the Solo. If youre using rubber orings, we may have also solved your "bad taste" issue.

I didn't have them in at the time. Wanted to ask around before using them. I guess I'll find some silicone ones somewhere!

I think Mcmasters has them but you need to buy a larger quantity.

As for the taste, what temp setting are you using? Some strains will still give off vapor well after the flavor is gone. Is this taste youre talking about similar to burnt popcorn?

I use temps 3/4. The taste is basically how the herb smells- very woody and "grassy". It's just not very enjoyable and I have to take a sip of soda after each hit to mask the taste.

Sounds like your bud wasnt cured properly. Thats how you get that wet/cut grass smell/taste with herb. Where did you get it from? If it was from an MMJ or legal shop, id complain. If its from a dealer... id still complain if youre cool with him.

My 3 SOLO's are the OLD Model.
The new model I'll get later! I can kill the ones I have to justify updating them?

I think that no matter what high grade herb you use, once the majority of resin and terps approach becoming spent, your fresh flavors will greatly degrade to just heated plant cellulose flavors - some describe it as burnt popcorn, some woody/grassy, etc... I just accept it all as part of the process and use it as a gauge for how much heady stuff is left in the load. Granted the flavor you get from a diminishing load isn't luscious, it isn't putrid either ...it just is;-)

In the beginning there's only a touch of the taste and after exhaling it feels as if I chewed a mint leaf (different flavored but same type of feeling if you get me). then the flavor intensifies and tastes too grassy for me.

You get different tastes with with each med. Indicas tend to be earthy-dry.

Well it could be improper curing, could be normal flavor degradation of that strain. Try something different and see how that works.

Alright thanks for the advice. It's gonna take me a month to get through this eighth but I'll try picking up something new afterwards.

Also I couldn't get my hands on a screen from a smoke shop so rn I'm using lint traps cut down to fit in the stem. it's metal. would this be possibly harmful?

I find the 1st hit is the sweetest tasting , then the 2nd and 3rd to be the cloudier hits . Ya by the 7th hit , it can get popcorn tasty .

If you have the option to try another strain , that would help indicate if it's the current strain that is bad tasting or not . It could be that particular batch .

I let the solo run for a full 12 minutes at level 7 when I first got it. I've probably done 5 bowls since then at 3-5

Sounds to be harvested before it was fully mature?
Maybe it was a medical strain of top quality?
Typical issue these days were the grower needs to pay his bills and jumps the gun by harvesting early!
I want to see some frost!
The flower needs to be fully ripe.
Pick a bit early the taste suffers.
My loaded stems are good for 7 - 8 hits super sweet. The last 2 rips are just greed. If you can handle pass this point your taste buds are maybe not as sensitive as mine? Then again I tried the lower shelf strains once and had to give them away.

I guess it depends what is important to you?

I like both FLAVOR & EFFECT.

Dealer told me the strain was juicyfruit. It doesn't smell like skunk indica that I've smoked before. More of a natural pine-y smell. I'm not sure it fits the description of fruity or sweet smell but it definitely smells "fresher" and lighter than what I've had before. The vape tastes exactly like how it smells.

I've had juicy fruit from DNA Genetics (they provide top quality seeds to growers). Not that its better than JF from any other seed bank, but im saying this to emphasize that its legit...

Anyway, it quite literally smelled like the bubble gum its named after.

Hmm alright I think I must've picked up a different strain then. I'll verify with my dealer next time. Quality of this stuff isn't bad tho seems like a sativa strong hybrid. Bagged it for $45/eighth here in SE mich

I do like the look of that bud except for the real lack of trichomes showing. Reminds me of long ago sativas we used to get that were often handled roughly. As has been said, finishing and curing is often overlooked in the push to market. A long cure can really improve most strains but sometimes you just encounter bud that may look great but you really don't care for the taste, high,whatever. When run through the Solo the taste is even cleaner with no where to hide..hell Id just burn through that eighth and try something new!

I tried cutting an installing a metallic screen but no matter what I do I can't get the metallic screen to stay inside the stem. Anyone has tips or advice? Your kidding right?
On ebay I got over 100 1/2 SS Screens (less than $5) that will last a long time. When I clean a GonG or a Stem I reuse the screen if it's in good shape.
