A photo or two of what's 'under the hood' for your perusal:
From this quick peak we can define at least some of the details. First off, the battery is about 50% larger than before, now 3400mAh against the 2200 in the original Solo. Therefore, if the old Solo got say 8 to 10 sessions per charge, I'd predict something like 12 to 15 now? It charges 'faster' by about that same 50%, say 1.2 Amps as opposed to .8 so the time to recharge should be 'the same' (give or take).
That assumes similar power consumption as Solo/Air, which IMO seems reasonable at this point in time as the ovens seem very similar and do the same job. No evidence of extra insulation or anything obvious that would improve efficiency (use less power). The oven itself is more similar to Air than Solo I, in fact the top 'cover' might even interchange? Otherwise the assembly is entirely different, built on a deep drawn metal 'can' (SS?). Not a plastic body with screw on cap that carries the 3 ribs you feel inserting stems (what many mistakenly call 'o-rings').
For purists who demand 'absolute separation between electronics and vapor' this is not the vape for you. Notice the area where the leads from the oven (2 heater, 2 sensor) come down and solder to the PCB? Air is free to rush though there (in fact that's the venting path in the event of battery accident, no more vents in the bottom). Blow in the charge port, air rushes out the inlet grill on the side (where air normally enters to make the hit). Those who wish to avoid electronic ghosts and evil fumes and such should pass on this one as well as it's predecessors.
Interestingly enough, the serial number on mine is LASER engraved on the SS plate insert. The base plate is also engraved "UQC, Inc." whoever they are. Mind this plate screws on so it's very easy to swap them around but as I understand it, that's their call. They can register base plates.......
Casual disassembly is to be discouraged, I expect to take some risks doing so, but would hate to have someone goof their unit up this way. It's built more like Air (makes sense.....), the front panel has to be pried off to get the unit out. It's sure to go back on with more fingerprints, smudges, dirt and so on than before you opened it, if you can get it back together at all. And the rocker button that covers the 3 switches removed (or the switches will get broken). 2 of the base screws (the 'front 2') go into long rods that go all the way up and hold the top plate on. You can remove them (the two in front) and take the top plate off (with the rods) to clean collected ABV, spiders and such out. They're machine screws. The other 2 base screws are self tapping and threaded into fairly frail plastic, they should not be removed unless necessary (like for service or battery pack replacement). The top can be removed for cleaning without disturbing them and they would no doubt get stripped out quickly.
Anyway, it's on charge now Later tonight or tomorrow sometime I'll fire it up and try it out. I don't really expect much difference but you never know...... It's very similar to Solo I in shape, only oval in cross section rather than round. It's as wide as before (of course, same size battery) but now thinner front to back. Ironically it seems this might make it a bit harder for me to hang onto with my sometimes casual style as the larger (front and rear) lips created by the flats are now smaller. A bit of handling pointed this way, but the real test will come vaping stems.
Now you know as much as I do.
Regards to all.
