Arizer Solo II

How similar is this to an Air?
It's similar but the upgrades are worth it.i love my air , had it since release and it's my backup now I've had issues with it. I've had to warranty it twice. Once after a year and once before the 2yrs ended. Can't remember the first issue but arizer was a beast and swapped it out. Second time the air just wouldn't rip like it used to and sometimes would start ripping after turning it back on after hitting it for a full 10 minute timeout. was a circuitry issue they couldn't repair and they switched it. Recently noticed inconsistent hits and sent it in. Out of warranty, their service center in Washington says nothing's wrong with it. Out of warranty and amy claims the warranty doesn't extend or renew once the units been exchanged out under warranty ( even tho it says that I no where on the warranty)so i was SOL unless it was a heading element issue. When the service center said they'd send it back I just said ok. Not worth fuckin with arizer bc I argued it several times and they wouldnt budge. Solo has a wonderful reputation for durability so I went with the 2 hoping for better durability. Each air unit I had need to be sent in within a year or right over a year mark. I know I go thru a lot of weed but this things supposed to be made to withstand heat. Plus I had issues with the air charger screwing up multiple times too. Sorry for that rant. Back to the topic tho

The air has swappable batteries which is great but honestly dude I got damn near 18 sessions at 15 minutes each session without it even getting super low. I took it off charge 6am and put it on charge about 1130pm and I'm positive I could gotten 2 more sessions outta it so IMO that cancels out the swappable battery advantage of the air.

The solo has the nice display and more precise heating. Also the air only gets to 405 degrees F and the solo2 gets to 428

Solo2 has the bigger airflow holes and cuts in the heater to help airflow. I love the airflow on the solo2 paired with an OG solo bendy stem. I think the stems that come with the solo 2 have restrictive airflow due to the holes bring smaller on the stem. Easily fixed with an OG arizer stem with bigger holes. That's really my only gripe about it honestly lol. Got 3 stems i don't like to use but they're good for backups. Not to say they aren't good. They definitely work and get you ripped. I just prefer the other stems and less restrictive airflow. In no way should it deter you from purchasing the unit.

Solid upgrade considering newer and more convenient technology. Plus you have a menu since it has a display and an actual battery icon vs the color system on the air which is useless if you're color blind.

tL/Dr: I fuckin love it compared to my air. Buy it, totally worth it if you hit up jack from agracan or Randy at puff it up (not sure if he has any yet)

And yes, judging by the size of this post, your conclusion is correct. I wake and baked lmao:spliff:

Remember portables aren't meant to be a single daily driver if you are a heavy cannabis user. Having a few units is a good thing in your arsenal.

Edit
@shawn0223 I'm talking about having just one unit that you hit all day every day for a long period of time and you are a heavy user. Portables aren't meant for that type of use IMO. It shows that your Pax is really well made. Not all portables will hold up like that.

Eh I guess, respectfully I disagree.lol. I use em all as daily drivers my original pax is still runs and I've never had to send it in. God knows how many yrs it's been lol. Same with my gay ass fire fly. Hate that bitch but it worked better. Used em all the same but only the air failed with daily use.

Excellent point, one I think we sometimes forget. 'Cutting the cord' calls for compromises, some more serious so others can be less so.

The major limitation is probably available power, be it from batteries, fire, or friction. Not having the mains to draw on we're limited to a few dozen Watts at most, and have to be frugal with that if we want 'reasonable' battery life. This means smaller loads which bring a host of problems (like the classic 'surface area vs volume') which add to the power limitation problems (making us use more power per gram to make vapor).

Oh, yes, we want it as small as possible, cheap and pretty. And reliable. And cheap....no, I said that already, but it's very important for some.

This means for modest needs there's a much better chance a portable will be fine for the owner than a heavier user. While our famous Member that uses a gram a month is fine with most anything, the guy that rolls seven gram blunts is not going to be very impressed by a 1/8 gram load in Solo or Air.

For the sport of it all I generally confine myself to portables. But agree strongly with the Lady, the key to a happy relationship can be to have several different vapes to 'rotate through'. Right now that means I'm using the TC Gen2 cart (very impressive, BTW), not the Air I was using a day or so back before I took a break from testing the Gen2. And some action with concentrates in the DT 2.5 and 3.0 carts mixed in.

Oh, yeah, VapMan (a personal favorite) saw some use in the last few weeks, and is probably going into the garden with me later this very day......at least that's the plan, it's set out and ready to go. I have a lunch meeting today, but I bet when I get home......

Heavy users should have options past a single (limited) portable if possible I think. They are all compromises and conditions change. CK has it right......again.

Guess the air might not be suitable for heavy daily use. I might be a little biased from being spoiled by previous Vapes bc I as well confine myself to portables and have used each heavily, when I say heavily I mean each bowl would last maybe a timeout and a half. Let's Say 15 minutes a bowl. ( I say bowl out of habit but I mean one stem lol) and I'd vape an upwards of 10 sessions a day. With that use every vape has lasted me besides the air.

Edit: Another great selling point, I'd have to flip thru batteries nonstop on the air. Ecstatic to see the solo lasted 18 sessions yesterday with still some juice left

OK it's official. I love-love my Solo 2.

I used the long stem with a screen and loaded .007 gram. I set up a 12 minute session and started at 166c/340f. I took steady draws without drawing too hard until the flavor really gave out. I then took draws at 180c/365f until the flavor gave out again. Then a few more at 190c/383f. It is so easy to adjust the temperature.

In total I took 20+ moderate draws in 12 minutes getting flavor all the way. The ABV was solid dark brown. I had done a .007 gram load in a Crafty this morning with well medicated result. The Solo 2 session was more relaxed with better flavor and I was again well medicated. I did another session with the Solo 2 and got the same good result. Solo 2 is a beast, very solid build, excellent battery life, a good draw, outstanding taste.

I have to use the screen because my grind is not coarse enough. I didn't notice any impediment to the draw or taste caused by the screen. I did notice particles of herb in my mouth without it. Cleaning could not be easier with no apparent build up in the stem. I will have at least one more session before bed time.

Did a 13 minute sesh or so on 365 while on break today. Real nice .. effects real heady and spacey instead of sleepy.
Even on these temps tho I still get some throat harshness towards the end. Maybe it's just a lot of repetitive hits or I'm just not used to it yet. Maybe the curved stem will help. Either way still loving it.

Whaaat.??? .007 is that some kind of James Bond joke.

7 thousandths of a gram just seems like that's pushing either the boundaries of vaping or truth lol....

I see why the screen does not cause an impediment to the air flow of the Arizer stem. There are the four glass holes in a cross section of the stem that limit airflow. There are also 4 glass bumps that rise up from the cross section surface where the holes are. The bumps keep the screen from settling across the 4 holes. Thus all holes in the screen can be drawn through before the air flows through the four holes in the glass cross section.
It is a clever design and the screen fits in nicely. It doesn't even clog up with the weed that I am using. The ABV just falls out. One whisk of a brush is all it takes to clean the screen. I see why Arizer included 6 of these screens. It makes medium or finely ground herb usable.

Yes once again I stated .007 when I meant .070 just bragging on my .001 accuracy scale. Well at least @OF didn't catch me this time.

I also will disclose that my temperature conversions to f were wrong. I use c scale and the numbers should have been 166c/331f, 180c/356f, and 190c/374f.

I went from a pax 2 to a Mighty and love it. The biggest issue with the mighty is that I don't feel I get enough draws from the material I pack. I hot much more draws from pax 2 then Mighty. I had the original solo as my first vape and I wanted to know how much draws can you get from a packed bowl/stem
@Stormsend the draw on the Mighty is so open you are moving more air than you think. If your draws are longer and stronger they will finish off the herb with fewer draws. Try shorter maybe softer draws that would more equal the draws on the Pax 2.
Also the Mighty bowl is smaller I think than the Pax 2; so use a .001 gram scale to measure equal load sizes. The Mighty is reviewed as being more efficient than the Pax.

poe mans dream and blow my high playin in the background. always love listenin to kendrick when i vape. good shit!
He's in the background of nearly all my Milaana vids with music. New album so good.
I'll get some more Kendrick Solo 2 milks.

Edit:
Just did a large bowl low temp sesh on 340 and bumped up to 345 to finish. Took 10 minutes to complete and got solid clouds pretty much from the start. Effects are way better and still quite strong considering the low temp.

Caved and saw a good deal on eBay. It was $225 with $20 eBay bucks. Got the cobalt blue. I have my Cloud Evo as my home unit. And my Pax 2 as a backup. I will likely end up selling my Mighty and keep the Solo 2.

I love the look of the Solo II and it seems like a good improvement on the first, but right now I feel no need to get it. My Solo offers basically the same functionality as Solo II. It's still going strong, and I don't forsee it quitting any time soon.

If my Solo broke, I would probably get the Solo II. Provided I could get a good price on one.

This is kind of the vibe I was getting with this one. I'm really happy for the improvements they made, and think they are some very useful, worthwhile upgrades; but I hit my Air the other day for the first time in a while and it just wasn't a great experience with my current style of vaporizing. Although I'm sure it's better than my Air (considering temp variability alone) I don't think this ones for me.
