rubber (2010). was a good one, solid indica + me + couch + tire who blows shit up = no complaints
I remember putting that movie on --vaked out of my mind-- with zero context as to what it was about. This was when it was first released. That first explosion....I don't think I've ever made a surprised laugh/giggle quite like that before.

I've been enjoying S1 of the new comedy series, "Legit", with Jim Jeffries. He's a stand-up by trade so its similar to Louie and Maron. He's also Australian, so it certainly has a uniqueness to it.

To be fair though, I probably laughed more during his actual stand-up special "Fully Functional" - also on netflix streaming.

I watched this Saturday. I gotta say, I enjoyed it more than I expected to.

Slower and more of a "thinker" than I was expecting. A lot of great moments and very well acted. Fantastic cinematography and soundtrack. An overall interesting take on America.

Disc only, I'm afraid. :(

Only God Forgives.

This is probably a love-it or hate-it. The cinematography is top notch. Every image is wonderfully framed. Highly evocative. Very slow tracking shots, little dialogue. Sometimes the lack of dialogue ratchets up the suspense, at others it grinds the action to a halt. I'd have to give it 3.5 stars, because it looks so damned gorgeous, and tries storytelling from a different place than most thrillers.

It's been raining all morning, so I just watched Odd Thomas. I dug it.

Just watched that the other day, out of boredom as well. I thought it was pretty all right. Nothing terribly original, but I had no difficulty watching the whole thing.

Though I thought the ending was a bit heavy-handed.
We just watched that! Like, on Tuesday. It rocked. LOL

into the mind (2013)

quite the watch, you take a trip into the mind and driving force behind ski slope adrenaline junkies who (id guess) have plenty of spare time and change to devote themselves to pushing the limits of human abilities, nice tunes too.

the hidden hand (2013)

its about ufo's and how they like to fuck with us. i lost it a few times but once the couch lock set in got really sucked into it, in other words i was sort of abducted but not sure i want to talk about it.

Saw this at a Dollar Theater back in the day. As fun and ridiculous and great and awful as it was then. Never quite forgotten some of the images and sounds and monologues from this one...

Soundtrack by Damon Albarn.

I found an old, fondly remembered series on netflix!

UFO

Originally a bbc production, I think, in 1969... it is portraying the distant future of 1980 (!!!!!!!!!!), it is a "SF" series that has amazingly poor production values, plots, dialogue, and dear god, the fashions!!

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAA!!! :rofl::love::lol:

Nearly every single other show and movie on Netflix is available on Amazon Prime. For me Amazon is superior to Netflix in nearly every way.

  • I get much more reliable service and signal on Amazon. Netflix constantly is bogging down, freezing, lowering resolution, and all around fucking up my experience.
  • Amazon is the same cost, and comes with Free Shipping on Amazon.com (pays for the membership if you often shop online).
  • Amazon's library is much larger and newer for both movies and TV
I am sure there are more reasons, but it really is amazing how much more value one can get out of an Amazon membership. Unfortunately, both services intend to hike annual rates to $99. :(

I'll admit it, I haven't been this scared by a movie in decades. It's not my genre, but I think as zombie apocalypses go this was as real as it gets. The bluray bonus material wasn't stupid either, bravo

Yeah, this one was a lot of fun. Love the part where the zombies make themselves into a giant arm to bring down the helicopter... :o
