AirVape Legacy Pro / AVLP 2

Toivarita

Good Vibes
Thats really bad. My AVLP1 looks much better after a year of extremely heavy daily use (between 10 and 40 sessions per day). The anodizing is starting to be worn down on the corners, but the fabric still looks almost new. And that's with me storing it in my jeans front pockets when walking my dog daily, so it doesn't get babied

It looked worse when it came out of the box before I had tried to smooth things out with my fingers, as other people who got their LP2 mentioned they did when they saw the cork when unboxing.

@Stu I'm really disappointed in you that you let your unprofessional comment derail this thread into bashing a fellow member rather than removing your comment and apologizing.

Thanks for the heads up. Not sure what happened, I’m not too familiar with Imgur.

Here’s some more photos:
I took these pictures pretty quick as I was leaving for work, so please let me know if anyone wants more pictures. I don’t think they’re quite as good as that last post.

So in the first picture it’s clear to see the one large bubble and a smaller one to the right of it. The second picture is harder to see, the top/curved part of the cork is just not seated correctly, like the whole cork patch was glued on too high up on the device and you can see and feel the top edge protruding. Also in the second picture you can see ripples on the far side of the device.

Edit: description and grammar

That looks hideous. This is exactly what I expressed concern about when they released this new material theme. The hemp and leather was bad enough because you can't properly sanitize the surface and cracks around it, but cork is worse and more degradable. Leather and cork and whatever organic materials do not belong here.

I'll 100% be uncorking and deleathering mine when I get it, and wish that I could just be sent one without, rather than the delays to "fix it".

If God is the answer, then the question is wrong
I was randomly comped one by Airvape for having posted positive things about the X on Reditt. I was contacted and and it arrived yesterday. I got lucky for once in my life, lol.
maybe this kind of rewards helps to explain why someone goes the extra mile posting “positive things” or defends the worst

Please chill with the back and forth.

It's great when people are happy with a product/customer service and of course we allow posts that say as much. On the other hand balanced and informative discussions can't suppress comments about less than positive experiences.

Please follow our 'be nice' rules.
If you think a thread is going off the rails just make a report. Backseat moderating typically just fuels a fire.

OMG, is this how they come or after light use? I’ve waited patiently for mine since mid April and still happy to wait (just had a baby, so I’m quite busy) but if it lands like this (and if it has the air leak mentioned earlier in the thread) I’ll be pretty disappointed. Even at the promo price.

Have Airvape issued any communication to say these issues are being worked on?

Honestly that was part of what kept me away from the first one too, I may end up canceling or selling mine without trying it

You make it sound like that means that it is ok. It isn't

Gary was the one claiming China is technologically vastly supreme to Europe, and now damaged units get shipped.
And the Venty was was made in-house in Germany and it still shipped with way too many E04 issues. I don't really know the situation but say you get 1000 boxes and 100 are damaged, you randomly do some QA on a few and everything looks good, so you send out the first batch and then you get this issue. So now they have to QA every box ... Anyway that's my hunch.

I'm saying this cork issue is "annoying", but hardly a fiasco unless I'm missing some other issue. The devices with the cork issue actually work right? That's better than S&B.

However I do not feel this is like the Venty release. I was a first adopter of the Venty. When they released the Venty, it was really to buy that day and shipped out next day or shortly after. They already had inventory before the release, no preorder. First batch Venty’s had the hardware (battery, if I remember) problem. The solution was instead of having units sent back to S&B, they had you deactivate your device via a software update and they sent you a new device with that issue resolved. S&B handled this fantastic IMO but I’m biased because I HATE returning things, and that’s just a personal flaw of mine. Ive got a lot of examples but I like to bring up my heated gloves that broke under warranty and I just never shipped them back. That’s not the company’s fault, kinda…?
I preordered my Venty from La Centrale Vapeur in France (great discount at the time). Anyway it got delayed because of the E04 fiasco. It shipped out in the next batch ... guess what, I still got the E04 issue. And eventually I had to send it back, even after the firmware update, because it flat out died E04 everytime I started it up. Many people reported getting 1 or 2 replacement Venty's from SB and still having the same issue.

This is why I don't think this issue is that big of a deal. Remember when the Ghost Stealth came out and front doors all broke? That was still a minor issue compared to the fact that the device gave you 1 great hit and then charred everything. As long as this thing performs as well as the ALP and cleans easier I'll be happy. But yeah I think cork was a poor choice, they probabably should just use something like Ford's ActiveX which uses recycled plastic bottles and recycled polyester to create a high quality synthetic leather that seems to wear pretty well... compared to cheap leather.

Absolutely right. I don’t think the cork issue is a big deal, as I’ve mentioned before. Even the girlfriend was able to, kind of, get over the aesthetic flaws when we were using it for a few days. I only posted the pictures because folks were asking, and I added the air leak video to give the community a bit more insight and content to work with.

That said, I encourage Legacy Pro V1 and V2 owners to try the air leak test. If the lid pressure I describe gives a better seal, you will see improved vapor production and performance. This problem has been known with the OG Legacy and V1’s, so it really shouldn’t be an issue at this point. I hope this is addressed in my AirVape Customer service thread (has been quiet for almost a week) and starts showing up in more units, this info could help get the vape performing at its best.

We know AirVape is listening to this community feedback because of the improvements they’ve been making here and there. The squeaky wheel gets the grease. Appreciate you Gary.

I know it’s getting annoying for me to say “my girlfriend” over and over but I find it insightful to get her perspectives since she’s not involved with any part of the cannabis or vaping community.

When I told her that the finish had Gold Flake imbedded cork with Vegan Leather, she it was a much bigger deal than I expected. If she was on the market for buying, it would have definitely have been a factor in her purchase. Just food for thought as always.

Hi:)

Sorry for the disappearing, I had a life-saving surgery, a relocation and a newborn so far this year. I take the blame for not being present enough and not communicating well the issues we came across this year so far. Yes, we had a promise from the factory. We got delayed anyway, yes tariff war and shipping got affected several times, ( not pushing the responsibility, just saying), yes we have the cork wrinkles issue and had to redo Quality check, causing more delays. We are not trying to mislead, just very hard to communicate this to our loyal fan base without making another promise that we can not control.

Things change fast, we waited a few weeks to be sure, but still have issues, so we waited a bit more to see, and this resulted in the not communicated well scenario.

The Arivape team and I apologise for this!

As of today, Shipments are getting into the warehouse this week and next, so shipments are rolling out soon ( not kidding ;) ) . We understand the frustration and anger, and we try to do our best.

Dear Gary,

Thank you for reaching out and I am glad to hear that you are getting better. Nothing is more important than health. Anyway, I pray you continue to get your health back on track.

Stay well,
DrG

PS Congratulations on your newborn...that is a major thing.

Hope you’re recovering. Product launches are challenging. As you mentioned, you’ve had some additional complications.

Unfortunately, based on emails with Bernadette, it looks like my order is another week or two out. I wish you luck. However, I’ve lost patience. I’m going to cancel.

Got mine this morning...

But...the cork cover is not well attached, it has wrinkles and is not well fixed at some points along the edge. Closer inspection later but not very pleased with it.

...

After inspecting the two AVLP2s and generally hanging out with them over the evening (above) I, by the next morning, had decide I could in-fact live with the minor cork flaws. Don't think it will bother me too much and maybe an aftermarket solution may present itself. Would I have noticed it if I wasn't expecting a problem? Probably. Would it have been the first thing I noticed? Maybe not.

It should be noted however I do think the unit @Toivarita showed is much worse than mine so no judgements on anybody who is less than pleased about theirs. (Also @Toivarita IMO the issue with the door you described is not right, it should not be the case and I gently urge you to get a replacement unit)

Last night we fired one up and so this is my initial review.

AVLP 2 Review

Feels good in the hand. I like the grey. The door feels very solid, feels upgraded from my v1.

The cleaning upgrade looks really good. "The bit" looks much more open and is accessible. I haven't yet gotten it sticky enough to give it a good clean but it looks good to me.

The new larger magnetic metal filter/screen is good. It is easily moved/removed but it appears to stay in place when left alone to do it's job. Pretty certain this is big upgrade from the finicky and delicate rubber seal with teeny tiny screen.

The screen, well it's got more colours sure but for me it is not an upgrade. Preferred the old simpler one and the original orientation. The colours and new layout may well be better for some so it could easily be an upgrade for them but for me not really. In the end this is unimportant to me so whatever.

In use, well it's an upgrade. The airflow instantly feels more open. Oooh just gonna turn it on and do a semi-filled cap....

Well, yes it is more open and it still produces those tasty clouds!

And hey! The cork feels good in the hand! It's nice to touch, nicer than the cloth for sure but also nice in it's own right. My partner commented on this independently.

(ok gotta take a short break...)

(🚰 and we're back...) ("A vape with a cup, that's a stupid idea!")

Another change we notice now is the mouthpiece. It's different, smaller, straighter, it has a silicon cap.
So being used to using the v1 how many of ya have put the vape to your lips and unexpectedly kissed silicone? haha
I wasn't sure about the smaller size and new shape— I thought I was just gonna prefer the v1 mouthpiece. In use the new is not so bad, different but not so bad. At this stage I think I prefer the larger one, if this new one was just a little longer I don't think I'd mind. My partner however said to their surprise they liked it and felt it stayed cooler during the session. The cap/cover is nice for the pocket but it looks mighty losable. Also I kinda think it's only there so press shots don't reveal the kind of weirdly small looking mouthpiece.

There ye go. First impressions.

The cork. Well. Hmmm. I think there is a couple of problems. Firstly maybe the pieces need to better formed to fit the shape and secondly where the gold specks intersect with an edge there is an issue. When I removed the "pull here" tape it took a gold speck with it - I had to laugh.
I'm actually happy enough with it right now and it can be a backup to the v1 or the v1 can be it's backup so it works for me (at that price anyway). Hopefully the cork doesn't fall apart or something. I'd still be interested in aftermarket mods and natural cork or funky colours might be deadly.

EDIT: I forgot to say I think that the cleaning brush is a bit scant in the head department, I'm sure the demo video I saw had a nice bushy one! :p

Thanks for the detailed review @Pangolin 6 ! I'm glad to hear that you notice more airflow, as I always like to see that.

I'm a woman so I'm canceling out your girlfriend's opinions. ^_^

Jokes aside, aesthetic is an important factor in choosing a device. I always say "form follows function, but it shouldn't be too far behind". I like some gold accents and such, but tend to prioritize clean-ability and durability wherever possible. The heels and leather purses typically stay at home in favor of tennis shoes and durable/washable cloth purses.

But, I knew what I was preordering when I signed up for the AVLP2. If the cork is bad, or the leather (happy to hear its vegan) is bad, I can just remove it. Even if I want gold, gold vinyl and clear layers are easy to source!

Sorry if its not ok

But can all the people cancelling give a shout out here first, im sure plenty would like to take over the order with the savings.
This company has both a track record for delays etc that get eventually taken care of, also for long time happy customers and pretty good cs, eventually ... when the time is right...

Received the email stating that it was awaiting pickup by usps. Regardless of the disappointment I've heard a lot about lately, I'm keeping an open mind and will provide a detailed review on functionality as well as aesthetics. I will be leaning much more on the functionality vs the aesthetics of the unit.

Hello, you might be waiting for a while. I have had mine as awaiting pickup message since August 7th. I just emailed AirVape to find out why it has not shipped yet.
