Advanced E-cig users and oil/wax, how-to "one-hitter-quitter"

It won't let me edit my last post... Holy crap, this thing works in temp protect mode.... Out of the box!! Wtf?!

And promptly died. Crap. This is why I stopped buying disposable garbage.

Not teallyenjoying the setup I posted up, though with some juice in the coil it's serviceable vape. So I bought this bad boy, we'll see how well it works, from ineedhemp
DSC05553.JPG

i have a friend that has one of those from ineedhemp. we tried it out together, both of us hated it. the metal screen needs to be drilled out out or it clogs pretty instantly and the inner chamber underneath the ceramic heating element is not accessible so it it more or less impossible to clean out the run down errl.

of course your mileage may vary.

at first my buddy didn't realize the silicon cover came off the dab tool included, it was pretty funny.

so i have been reading on some ecig forums that an RDA with as little room inside of it produces the best flavor. i have been looking at some dif RDAs to toy with and ran across the "derringer" RDA. i gotta say i LOVE its short length. you can get clones for around $25 so i may give one a shot.

what RDAs are yall using and why?

Where did ya see derringer clones? Last time I looked I could only find the authentic.

I'm looking at getting a clone of the lethal RBA. Shallow drip well that is an even surface with no places for oil to sink into. Very large milled out post holes to allow for large gauge/multi coil builds. Adjustable airflow high up on the atty to cut down on leaks and allow some fiddling with airflow settings. I like the look of it in general.

@Hashassin, you can find the clone on ebay for about $23. and that comes with 5 dif color caps. SS, copper, brass, black (delrin i assume), and white (also delrin). ill post a link for it when i get home.

ill have to check out the lethal. im looking for a short RDA that is still 22mm diameter.

Also fast tech. The derringer is still 22 mm though, so surface area remains the same, just a shorter collection chamber for the vapor. Should be warmer, in general, and the small chamber should be great for flavor. With such a short chamber. I might even choose a glass or Delrin drip tip

the lethal isn't exactly short, but it does have a reduced cap on the inside.

i hadn't considered the derringer for errl use but i've been waiting for it to hit fasttech. i love the look of that tiny lil thing. i've been wanting to pair one with a praxis, they were made for each other and i like everything i've seen about both.

i'm not sure small is the way to go with concentrates. reduced chambers equal more flavor but typically less cloud. when using glass globe style atomizers for oil larger globes produce larger hits in my experience. add in the heat factor from running say dual .2 ohm coils and i think a little more room might lend toward a better vape experience.

i look forward to seeing the different results we are all able to get using various setups and RBAs.
enhancing my vape experience and comparing and sharing with other enthusiasts is just about my favorite thing in life these days. It can be rewarding on so many levels.

yep that tiny chamber should prove a good choice for flavor. i use a CapItAll HALO cap on my igo-w bases. that cap has a pretty small chamber. id like to know how it compares to the derringer in that regard.

you have a praxis? how do you like it? esp the switch. i have never seen one in person. that mod was on my short list of shortest 18650 mod that i could find. it was down to the praxis, nano by MM, and the Prime by tarsius. i ended up with the Prime. the derringer will look great on it. oh by the way here is that link. ships from the us.

@2clicker i haven't held the praxis in my hands yet either and am also curious as to how the switch is going to feel. i'd been intending to order one along with a few other things a few weeks ago but my vape budget was sucked up by unexpected expenses.

Just picked up this beast this week. Variable wattage and it dynamically adjusts to the ohms by rechecking resistance every time you fire it. It will handle anywhere from 5 watts up to.... 260 watts in 1 watt increments. I wouldn't call it small by any means though it takes 3x 18650 batteries and looks like it could double as a game boy  it works fucking great for oil though because I can dial in my subohm coils so I don't get as much runoff from the heat

I think this could have some serious potential if I can find a good 510 threaded herb oven too. You can even set this to "auto vape" so I can program the trigger to fire the atomizer for a fixed length of time with one press.

NICE, i keep getting emails about this one. i got all the specs on the chip and it looks badass especially for the price but how is the build quality? smy has made some shoddy mods and i've been hesitant to give in and order one due to concerns about how long it will be before something goes wrong with it.

either way congrats, it is one beast of a box. i have a mild case of vape jealousy at the moment i must admit. that much power and i wouldn't need to build puny, slow to heat sub ohm coils anymore.

I can see why you might be sketched out a bit by SMY. I opened several of their kits and I am not very impressed with their QC. My first kit was marked black but it was blue. My second one I had one of the buttons stick on me less then an hr after purchase. It still worked but I could tell it was gonna be an issue so I swapped it for another box. I am very glad I decided to drop a couple extra bucks and buy it from my local vape shop. If I had to mail this thing back and forth I would of been pissed. That said this thing works fucking great. It's damn near hazardous to use it past 120 watts with juice in my ride with the windows up because the road and the car in front of you disappear for a second or two :D . Oil is great too but I am usually dialing my power down on my dab coils. Took it to a super bowl party and everyone loved it because they can lay on the button more and get more consistent hits then they would on my mech mod.

I am curious on if I could push more serious wattage through a dab coil on my mod if I was using SS cable or SS mesh as my wicking....

from my experience... SS mesh taste horrible as a wick. not sure about braided cable. i wonder if there is any titanium mesh available to try...?

there is actually a couple different types of titanium resistive wire avaliable... gplat I think is one.... masterofclouds I think carries a t4 grade resistive wire...

I have found oil works really well on a very porious coil with small inside diameter. I like a clapton for wickless work at the moment...

I dont have a pic of the most functional coil atm but to get an idea what I mean

I dont run it red hot either.. just warm it up and smear a dab and cap and hit it through a bubbler. the claptons pretty efficient for keeping a dab on the coil and vaping it off fast without overheating too much.

I've used stainless steel mesh as wick for dabs and had good results, but only under certain conditions. It holds the dabs pretty well and to me the taste was okay....until ya get a dry hit. Hot stainless is very unpleasant dry.

Titanium I don't really care for as heating wire, the warm-up is ridiculous. My Hercules sr71 has titanium wool that acts as a wick and I love it. I'd we could get some titanium mesh for wick I think it would perform well.

@farscaper you're pic looks very much like the entire left corner of my vape drawer.

@Puffers mind if I ask how much ya paid? I'm being quoted 129 but with the questionable build quality I think that's high and I'd like to talk them down.

nice work you are doing there! your wire work inspires me. i havent really messed with wickless coils yet. my experience with a SS mesh wick really turned me off of it. i will have to try some wickless stuff. do you find that the wire only coil wicks the oil? enough to hold a dab upside down w/out dripping out?

yeah id love to see what that stuff is like. mesh is what i had in mind, but that wool stuff sounds like fun.

it does if you mount it vertically. that way you can load the top and with 1 or 2 button push the oil soaks in. then when you give it power to vape the coil tends to release all the oil first.
you just have to find the sweet spot for your coil so you dont overheat it while dabbing. but thus far I dont really lose any oil off the coil and its suspended in mid air basically. so other than overheating or overloading it just gobbles it up deliciously.

I also recently upgraded to a Sigelei 150w box mod and it was a good decision for me. now I can tune the watts so I get the exact voltage I want.

edit: copped a pic of my oil coil. mounted semi vertically... just a little crooked. like me.

got the settings right there for reference too. it could probably be ran with less watts/ volts but as it is its a dab machine with this setup... not an allday oil pen. you have to reapply after every dab and you can take a monster rip fast like off a nail with it. I usually try not to completely dry out the coil with my inhale... I usually burn off the last of the residue before reapplied. thus keeping good flavor... its not quartz tasty... but its efficient like a mother fucker!

and its in a little boy rda btw.

That doesn't sound bad. It's about 125 on fasttech. I have heard whole sale at 10-20 pieces is about 100 and with shipping works out to be 105-110 at cost. I paid about 140 I figured 15 bucks more then fasttech for a brick and mortar shop wasn't bad. Although I now noticed that Fasttech has the variant clone for only 160... Anybody know how solid the build/chip is? Vicious ant had that thing sellin at like $600 per box iirc when they first came out. The variant does VV but it also has a battery that may need replacement eventually it doesn't take 18650's but its also probably smaller and lighter more like a 150watt Sigelei (good choice btw @farscaper )

Those Clapton coils look bad ass for dabbing I have heard these and the magic mundy coils are great for oil they just look so time consuming to wrap sounds like it's time to bite the bullet though

I can build a clapton in about 15 20 min from scratch wire.... I dint find it as time consuming as it seemed... results may vary... but, the power drill is sooo important!

I mainly chose the sigelei 150 becuase it bucks the voltage instead of boosting it... so its easier on battery life... as I understand it... I have nothing more than a SMPL mech mod to compare it to... but I really love dialing in a coil now... so simple to get the proper vape....

Bucking refers to lowering the power below the voltage level of the battery, while boosting is as the name implies. Are you saying you vape very low powered? That must be such a coolish vape

im saying it requires 2x high amp 18650s ran in series. thus doubling the potential voltage output without boosting the voltage... I believe the ipv runs them parallel and boosts the voltage from each battery....

so instead of having to amplify the volts... it bucks them down which is easier on both the battery and device.

I prefer a dual coil at .2ohm 5volts 100watts... not really a low power vape...

Guys!

Interesting stuff and reads , i've saw theses kind of coils used by ecig sub ohmers users, but never thought about being useful for dab.
How much amount of dab do you drop on the coil?

Is there a sweet spot about how much the resistance have to be ? is everyone agree on this or multiples views?

I was away fc for a while but remember being very interested at this thread when it started, and i'am happy to see it's getting as rich as interesting with the time.

I'am using mech mod, dripper, genesis for 3 years now, cotton and mesh single coil, between 0.9 and 1.3 ohm.

To smoke bho on the go, after broking all my nice glass vapor rig, i've been modding some different piece coming mainly from ecig mods, using a 10mm/14mm nail; keeping the set up tottally mechanical meaning i always need a little torch to heat the nails.

I finally came out with a good one, pretty useful that i can show you maybe, i have to take picture of it , if there is some interest.
