I'm going to go out and get all the materials needed to start building coils tomorrow. I had the vape shop build my coil for me, since I had very little knowledge (besides watching youtube videos). How does 1 coil differ from 2? And should I use a wick? If so, is the ceramic the best at the moment?

None of the shops around me carry ceramic wicks. What would be best for an oil only rda: ss mesh, cotton, silica, or wickless?

seems like everyone moves to the efus batteries with mech mods

?

Sony VTC5's all day ;)

i would agree for 18650s, but for 18350s i think efest and AW are about the best.

And efest 18350 purples for shorties

i havent tried the purple ones yet. i like their red 18350s.

regarding this subject... i am a big fan of the 18350 form factor because of the short size it allows with a mech mod. well last night i was at a friends place and he just copped a 4nine clone. this thing in 18350 mode is almost half the length of my kingII clone (which is a short 18350) in 18350 mode. then we put it into 18650 mode and it was only a .5" longer than mine in 18350 mode... to get to the point... if i can get 18650 performance from an 18350 form factor... i am ALL over this. i will be looking at getting a 4nine, or something else super short real soon.

ill post pics of the 4nine i was looking at last night. in a bit.

I pulled the wicks out of my rda's micro coils, and tried hitting some oil. It worked, but of course a little oil just melted to the bottom hahaha. So I'm going to go pick up some wick. Should I get ss mesh, or silica? I feel like silica would be the easiest to work with.

The purples are the newish higher power 10.5 amp version of the reds.

I love both of my grand vapor mod clones for their small size, the fact that I can disassemble ever single little piece and they telescope. I use the m16 and private v2.

Some updates:

*The oil on the deck is from when I put oil on the coil with no wick. This hit of oil was the first real dab I've had since my surgery, and I must say it got me just where I need to be hahaha. But I did notice that the button is sensitive with this set up, but I have experience with this from my persei vape.

i was going to get the purple cells, but i will be in the 18650 market soon w/ either a 4nine or an MMVapors Nano.

here is a pic of the 4nine next to my king II clone. both in 18350 mode. the 4nine in 18650 is just taller than the king in 18350.

I will likely snatch a 4nine clone when I go mech mod. that thing is fucking tiny!

we totally had it setup in 18650 mode and i thought i snapped a pic... i didnt, but its close to the king in the pic. you could even step up to 18500s and still be shorter than the king.

I cant buy it till I can decide between brass and ss lol... I love brass cause it reminds me of my youth spent pilfering weslakes (ace hardware) making pipes a plenty. I was a high school entrepreneur, I just didnt know it!

brass is the better conductor and i would think have less voltage drop, but i prefer SS between the two esthetically. plus the dif may be minimal...?

I've been looking at some nemesis clones and other various clones. I notcided theres a copper nemesis. Would there be a noticeable difference between ss, coppper, and brass?

yes. copper should be the best conductor of the three providing the least voltage drop.

regarding voltage drop though... at least for use with solids... i find that a SS mod will vape oils just as well as the others. so really not a factor for me when looking at mods. if i vaped nic juice then i may be seeking the least drop possible, but it has not been an issue for me.

While copper is a better a conductor it's also a much softer alloy then stainless or brass. It will be easier for the threads to get worn or damaged it also tarnishes fairly quickly which can affect voltage drop and aesthetics needing more upkeep. Finally some people are a bit put off by the smell of copper. Not to talk anyone out of getting a copper mod if that's what you want some of the patina's look :whoa: and you can always clear coat your mod body to get around some of the issues like tarnishing, preserving patina's, etc. The difference in voltage drop between brass and copper is slim to none and IMO most people wouldn't be able to tell the difference in a blind test. So don't let that be a deciding factor. I know several people who own copper mods and they went up on the shelf after a couple weeks for one reason or another. :2c:

now see I just assumed it was just an aesthetic thing. at least for me it is.

now I learned something new today

I just snatched an vw joye battery and a mini aerotank to use ejmix in for the moment... but I want to shop around for a mech mod... I like how small the 4nine clone was and I found it for 30 bucks I think... I judt dig that steampunk brass shit.... makes me want to vape with a monocle!

I dig the 4nine clone as well, but the caravela clone looks nice too. And I saw a magnet mod that makes the button smoother.

Can anyone recommend me a build that would let me take medium dabs? I have a kamry k100+ with an igo w rda. I feel like a single coil would be best. Running in 18650 mode. The materials I have available right now are kenthal, cotton, and stainless steel mesh. Is the fc-2000 ceramic wick really the best? How would you build a coil with it? A ceramic donut coil perhaps?

... I would like to get opinions on an idea...

would require dual coil rba and a tiny quartz cup.

one coil around the walls and a pancake on bottom.

it would be for dabbing...

thats pretty much it... honestly I think finding someone to make a bunch of quartz cups is all thars required... the innokin driver mod would be ideal type setup with an acdc converter and you basically have a quartz enail ...

so needed is:

rba body that would be able to house the cup and coils

the quartz cup

and custom coils...

I just am a novice when it comes to building coils and calculating needed resistance...

my startng point is an affordable cup... a tube is no big deal... but a cup requires a blower unless you can find little quartz test tubes ...

I'm trying to picture what these quartz cups would look like. Are there any quartz wicks worth messing with on the market now?

think of a tiny short test tube. just scrape a dab iff on the inside edge and then hit the go button. it would just melt and evap to nothing... cleaning would just require a dry fire.

I think just a quartz tube with a coil at each end in a horizontal position would work... but is not optimal.

I guess I am trying to stick one of my quartz nails in a rba so I can pocket it!...

I think the keys to this are:
1. a thin walled cup. 2 or 3 mm which is why glass wont work... it will not withstand that kind of temperature flux. this will also make creation of then easier.

2. even heating which is why I suggested dual coils one pancake and one around the outer wall of cup.

you would likely need a sorta tall rba to fit it vertically.

hook one up to a rig and vwala quartz enail.
perhaps I should draw a picture?

Sounds like a sick idea.

I'm looking to do a new build tomorrow. The only real problem I'm having is that if over load the coil with oil (anything more than a tiny bit), the oil melts down onto the deck. Is there a way to have a coil under the existing coil? I tried looking through all the pages, but can't quite find what I'm looking for. All I have to use is kanthal and silica.
