Still enjoying my @710Coils set-up a lot, daily. My cca liger has now been oficially collecting dust ever since I got my axial coil.

I’m about to place an order today and I was curious about a few last things, if I’m getting the 30mm opaque and axial coil, do the 6mm or 8mm pearls work better? Is the clip for holding the coil on the banger) included or do I have to buy separate ? And lastly would I be really missing out if I don’t pick up inserts ?

@Kanna_Kult Pearls are on me. So dont buy them, unless you want an extra set of them =) I supply an axial coil clip with each axial coil. But others have purchased the clip kit as a backup. Inserts are a mixed bag. Some will swear by them where others just dont see the need for them. I would say start with the pearls and if you really like them. You could order some inserts at a later time.

So, I've been super happy with my 25mm opaque banger and axial coil.
However, I'm not sure what happened to my quartz after attempting to clean it for the first time:
I soaked it in Simple Green over a candle warmer for about 12 hours, after which the banger had a weird film on one side. I then soaked it in 91% ISO (over the candle warmer) for a few hours and the film is still on the side of the banger. Did I just ruin my brand new quartz?

@Housefudge I just rinse mine under warm water until there is no film left. If you cannot get it off. I will send you a replacement banger as that should not happen. The ISO should of taken anything off. But give it a try under warm water and your fingers till you dont feel the slick feel from the film covering it

Shane, just curious what the status is with your opaque slitted inserts. Do you have any that are the tall ones like the clear? Or are they all short like the non-slitted opaque? Just curious if perhaps i've received old stock. Are there two sizes of slitted opaque?

@biohacker I have taller 25mm and have more 30mm being made and they should also be taller the next round. So maybe 10 days or less I will have them =)


I had gotten a small shipment of shorter ones and had mingled them into my stock. I can set you up with the taller ones when they land =)

I liked my 25mm opaque with axial coil soo much that i tried a 30mm clear with clear slitted inserts.
I think I've finally got the inserts a bit figured out. I run the coil at 540, drop the insert in and instant cap, when coil temp (rdk-300) reads 346, I start pulling for days. Usually get 3-6 lung fulls before cleaning it out.

Here's my questions...
1. If you have a similar setup (banger, insert, coil), what is your process?
2. The banger definitely stays cleaner using inserts but is there a way to spin the cap without spinning the slitted insert? I'll admit that I'm not using a 30mm pi bubblecap, does this combo prevent the insert spin?

I've been starting with the insert in and just letting it heat soak @ 500 degrees. My goal was mostly to make cleaning easier, rather than any performance improvements. Finish the dab, pull out the insert with tweezers, and drop it directly in an ISO bath. The banger definitely still needs to be cleaned, albeit not quite so often or thoroughly. I'll try to drop-in method this weekend, but tonight I'm playing with some new toys:

Picked up a full opaque banger along with "gear" inserts (these are from DHGate, not Shane -- sorry!). I posted this in the Recent Acquisitions thread, but the inserts fit pretty snug against the walls of the banger, so q-tipping after a dab like I'm used to might be a bitch. I'm interested to see what the performance is like with this vs no insert + ruby sphere vs opaque cup insert.

Either way, I couldn't be happier with the 25mm axial. I rocked the 30mm for a while, which was great but I don't take large dabs... pretty much ever. I was also having some trouble getting any action on my terp pearls with a smaller rig. Anyway, I love testing and trying new things so I'm jazzed about this.

I would just set it to the temp you want. That's always worked for me, no matter what I plugged into it. It is what it is.

You know, I like it quite a bit, but it's a bit sensitive to splash-back. It needs a pretty specific amount of water to function correctly, which isn't difficult, but I may look at picking one of their versions with a recycler/incycler too.

1. I turn my temp up about 100 degrees hotter when using my inserts, otherwise I find It takes too long. Id rather 2-3 nice quick hits. I drop them in, wait about 5 seconds and then start the show.

2. I have the tall slitted inserts and the Pi Cap and mine also spins the inserts unless I'm focusing on not making them spin. Like being a gently little mouse.

Finish the dab, pull out the insert with tweezers, and drop it directly in an ISO bath.

This works so well, It's effortless and keeps everything spotless.


Side note I've been using the newer 30mm coil with the extra wrap and what an improvement. My walls are ALWAYS spotless now. I haven't used my inserts since I got the new coil because my banger stays so much cleaner. Previously inserts were my go to method as everything was always so easy to keep clean.

As for the spinning slitted inserts.... same problems here, and it affects airflow so I went back to the non-slitted opaque dishes!

Finally got my set up and I’m loving it, getting clouds under 500*F. Flavor is really good and efficiency is better than any other nail I’ve tried. All in all best preforming dab set up I’ve ever had but I need to find a better carb cap than the shitty one I got for $12 from my LHS. I want a silver/gold fumed one to match my rig or else I woulda just got the Pi cap. My overall experience with 710 coils, like pretty much everyone else here, was 10/10. Cannot reccomend these products or company enough haha. Might have to snag a 25mm soon because I’ve been eyeing those sapphire and ruby inserts and I can’t find them for 30mm nails at a decent price

This is something I've been wondering about as well. I bought a cheap k type thermocouple to see the temp differences when using an insert, but I don't seem to be getting accurate readings with the probe that came with it. I'd like to know exactly how much I need to turn the temp up when using an insert so that the floor temps are equal when not using the insert.




In other news, I don't think I'm really a big fan of the new opaque shuriken. At least when compared to the ruby/sapphire pearls and steam rollers that I normally use.

Using my Quartz Pi cap, the shuriken can move around the banger when everything is clean. But after a few hits, I can't seem to get the shuriken to move around much if at all. In my experience, the movement is critical in fast efficient vaporization. I don't personally think you need pearls to be spinning like from a Gordo, but I like them to at least move around the floor.

Without the movement, the hits with the shuriken seem to drag on a bit, closer to as if there was no pearls or anything extra in the banger.

I'll try it again when I'm cleaning my pearls/steam rollers, but it definitely won't become my daily driver.




In regards to keeping everything clean, I've really been liking Simple Green Crystal. As far as I can tell, it's the same as normal Simple Green, just without the dye and fragance. The pearls and steam rollers come clean super easy, they literally pop off the skin of residue and come out squeaky clean.

The banger floor comes clean with a nice Qtip wipe, but I always have a stubburn ring around where the top of the coil is. It never seems to come off with the initial SG clean. But a quick 30 sec scrub with some baking soda gets it right off.





I still absolutely love my 710Coils set up, can't believe how wonderful these dabs taste now! Anyone still on the fence should step up!
