The Beech is pretty hard and durable but the Zircote is quite a bit harder and would probably have a longer lifespan. That said the Beech should still have a good long life (couple years?). As far as VVPS go I don't really think they're necessary with the latest Dogs as most run plenty hot as-is...

Sometimes the wood recedes a bit from the core after a while and the reduced contact ups the temps a little bit.. could be what's going on here. Otherwise it could be a change in ambient temps or a slight increase in your power grid voltage level. If you send Underdogette a message she can get...

That'd be pretty cool! If you decide to do that get in touch when you're wood shopping so we can help make sure you're getting stuff we can use. In a piece like that grain orientation, surface finish, moisture level, etc are really important factors in the source lumber. :2c::tup:

Yeah I like it too. I made an Oak set a while back with White Oak, Red Oak, Black Oak and Live Oak.. it was pretty awesome but I don't have pictures. :\
