Good find! That should work but will require the dimmer to be right at the Dog end which is a bit kludgy but should be manageable. :clap: Should be completely safe if a bit kludgy (see above) so no worries there.

Hi stska, Unfortunately all the dimmers are 2.1mm and not compatible with the Econo-Dogs 2.5mm power supply, ports and cords. There may be an adapter out there but I haven't seen one personally. You say it fits the power supply cable and extension cord but not the Dog? A dimmer normally goes...

They run on 12v power supplies like standard Dogs so realistically anywhere from 11.5v to 13v for most users. I can't say if one would make a good car Dog or not since that will depend a bit on your particular car electrical system unless you're running it with an inverter and the standard...

Is this a current generation Dog? If not what vintage is it? I wouldn't suggest doing that on a regular basis but it shouldn't hurt anything or cause any issues so no great worries. :cool:

I'm fairly sure we can rule out voltage issues, since it's getting hot enough to blacken the herb and/or combust there's clearly no lack of heat. Underdogette is on the case and trying some more comprehensive troubleshooting steps. :science:

At this point I'm not sure what to think, it's kind of baffling. If you're getting dark brown ABV (you mentioned this previously) and/or combusting then there certainly isn't any lack of heat. I can't think of a scenario in which you can get dark brown/combust without getting vapor extraction...
