The vinegar and sea salt act as an abrasive to help break up the goodies. The one time I did it, I would also shake the jar once or twice day. And I let everything hang out in the jar for a week. Either oil will work.

I can't find the 275f rated tubing from Lowes now. I saw it last summer. I definitely remember it being food grade. Another place that you might find tubing locally is a home brewing supply store. I ended up ordering from 7th floor though.
