i think the idea is to not let the piece get totally caked but to concentrate that into a certain area. mold would be a concern if you left the piece w/ moisture in it in a dark place ( which is where most ppl leave their pcs i would assume )

dont think so - glass is hard it takes a strong corrosive or hard material to etch/scratch it

trust me - paying for it floored me it will be slowly phased in i would say complete transistion in about 6 weeks

we clean our pieces @ 1100F and that pretty much clean out anything - if all else fails HCL acid bath

because of the spider crack going down the can, it may or may not run all the way down the to seal. thats the risk factor - i would just cut off the joint and flame cut the whole can off and replace w another keeping intact the perc so it would look good as new
