    Making Draw Tubes... Flower Quince?

You are a library of knowledge @Planck and I am so appreciative of that. I am one of those old dogs that comes up with new tricks with mere bone scraps. Your scraps are invaluable! We definitely see temps in that range and is the reason to keep finishes on the outside of the stem. That...

We know what we know from these posts. We knew that @khelek41girl wanted to be the/a USA supplier. This is the first we hear about VG wanting in on the action. However, I see an attempt to out something with trepidation for some reason. Are you claiming contributions in the design or some...

I know about the self combustion. I am using the slow drying linseed oil. And you are right, we spent quite a few laundry loads to clean up the spilled portion to get the smell out. This is the stuff I'm using - Link The rag is a napkin. One dab on the napkin and most of that goes to waste...

I tried a quick inner cooler design for these. I need better tools to do that justice. The twist requires a lot of tension to get a tight spiral. An inherently loose spiral will only lengthen the path to maybe 150%(?). We want 'seriously twisted'. oh, and I found a way to damage...

@VGOODIEZ - just so you know, I hate branding. And I do want one of these making me part of the demographic. I will go out of my way to avoid it. @khelek41girl - I hope you are still planning to go forward with this product. I know you swore off the thread but a PM would serve me well. TYIA

without the 'Y', yes. These shrubs have their lore in ornamental pink flowers on a single yard-long stalk. People come around in late winter/early spring to buy budding stalks for Valentines day IIRC. Mine has been too gnarly to take anything useful from it. That should resolve over the next...

    Driving whilst high

Thanks for putting it nicely @howie105  Indeed those are the facts. There may be a fine line between being impaired and being under the influence. Being impaired and driving is risking other people's safety. Being under the influence is a legal measure. Lawmakers made the law thus...

Thermal mass - interrupted air path - This is good to hear. I was wondering how necessary the CU's were. It doesn't need to fit in my pocket. longer stem attachments welcome. Waiting to see what @khelek41girl comes up with.

    CU for VapCap?

I like spiral air guides better too. The ID of the condenser tube is a free 4mm. How tight do you think you can twist up a ribbon without buckling? Obviously I've given it some thought. I was surprised actually when I did a small test. The spiral path is longer no doubt. More efficient as...

    CU for VapCap?

I don't want to market things. I need a lightweight stem. So, there it is  Anyone is free to market the thingamajig.

...and the edit's gone; Okay, I was eager to try the glass out. And due to the lucky accident of the wrong size tube, we have a new contender. Now taking odds on shrink-fit wooden sleeves  This will become my daily driver for a bit. This has a 1.5mm wall, both glass and sleeve. The...

I like @phattpiggie 's new air port adjuster. That is a lot of what had me thinking. @thejackalsmark - I appreciate the moderators here. Moving those post to their own thread was a great move. And yes, forums are indeed a family with all its implications  Been participating in...

Thank you Diggy  Today the glass came came in. 4-100mm long 8mm OD 1.5mm wall clear borosilicate. Nicely flamed ends and a good continuous diameter. Definitely looking forward to making a couple of these. Now to find out why they are 8mm not 7mm.

... This thread moves way to fast. Simpler; motorcycle carb with the big-ass needle going into the metering hole connected directly to the throttle cable. That is the condenser in the Omni being pushed or retracted from the VC. It is a 'metering' function. The airport acts as a choke...

    Making Draw Tubes... Flower Quince?

I did mention that once. I even have some. I don't know if it would qualify as a hardening finish which seems to be a key element in wood finishes. It was @phattpiggie that mentioned turning hemp stalks for friends IIRC. Main difference I can see, these stalks are up to 30-someodd years old...

Well, I'm of a mind that this species will hold perfectly well for a bit on getting a seal coat. It takes less than a drop of linseed oil so I think I can let you finish to your preference. This one has linseed oil. I will spin up two more to a dry felt polish and not oil those. I suspect...

Cool. I want to make a couple more in that vain. Sorry, I tend to edit away so new stuff just shows up  I saw the more-is-less philosophy about adders. Okay. Food color it is. I think that is the effect I want. Still have the linseed oil. Very clear on this species. Stems are...

Omni is like an adjustable needle valve in a classic carburetor. The M is a fixed flow design. Both designs can be modulated by a 'choke' function that is apparently called an 'airport'. However, I can envision a design where DV/opportunity can internally add a piece that makes the 'airport'...
