Yes, the question re an international version has been posted quite a few times in recent weeks. The VXL folks have indicated that an international version is being worked on (in contrast to using an inverter) but AFAIK there is no availability date for it yet.

Set the temp very high and let it just sit for a few hours. IIRC the manual suggests to burn-in like this; the smell is to be expected. If the smell doesn't go away, contact the seller for an exchange or contact Arizer for warranty service.
