Just in case someone gets confused he says "we HAD been using WD 40" but what's in the bottle is motor oil because "we wanted something that would last longer" :tup: WD 40 is a solvent for cleaning, it might wash away dirt and cure a squeaky hinge, but it's not an oil or protecting the metal...

So I've pretty much got the s2 down now, I can roast a bowl to a nice milk chocolate brown without combusting! Buuut... the air is just too hot :\ I can manage it with tubing or sacrificing my tongue instead of my throat to the heat god but tbh I've been missing stage 1 for a while now...

It's tricky to measure low resistances, even how hard you press the probes on the metal can change the reading.. Pores will be visible unless really clogged or completely full, also the increase in performance people notice with low loads is just physics, less liquid to heat = faster warm...

Coils might have shorted somewhere (lower resistance) if it feels hotter. Otherwise if it just didn't heat and now heats to a normal temp it probably has a break in the coil, and only temporarily sport welded itself into working, try not to bump it while you wait for a new one!
