I don't know about the convection upgrade for the FV, but once you get the hang of it you can get satisfyingly thick vapor from the FV. The Pax makes much more vapor/clouds but you use more flower, and tbh I feel the FV gets me 90% the effects of the Pax so it just feels much more efficient.

The pax on red gets quite hot, I'll try to measure how hot it gets. I would be really surprised if the Cera got hotter, I think TV is probably just covering themselves liability wise

That's basically exactly the setup I use right now, I use about half with the FV that I use in the Pax so it really saves $$

Yeah Pak is right, the way to use the Pax is to keep it off when you're walking near non-mj people, and then duck into a bathroom or somewhere you won't be noticed to turn it on and vape.
