Hey frients,
Wanted to ask about the vape landscape nowadays:
How does dyna compare? What are they bringing to the table now to compete?
I am a fan and just want to maybe spark hotstick convo:
TA
Tornado
Tempest
Df2
Cxl
We're not supposed to compare products in a product thread so I will only say that in general, it's not really a suitable comparison imo. Most of those are designed to be handheld desktop vapes with aspects (heat retention) that make them less portable. Dynavaps are more pocket portables in that they heat, hit, cool, and stash quickly. Most of those are built for a single heating with extended hits, are heated by a med or large torch, have larger bowls, are convection or hybrid oriented, etc. Dynavaps are meant for a handful of heatings per bowl, are conduction oriented, etc. I think Dynavaps still are amazingly efficient, and give a darker, more sedative high. I have several of these vapes and Dynas still get used daily for quick, contained sessions or stray hits, where those compete with ball vapes, powerful logs, Bricks, and other desktops in my collection. They have a similar form, but they're really apples and oranges. I'd compare those to other desktop vapes, they have more in common. (The Convector is the outlier here, as it too is quick to heat and cool. But because it relies on a visual change to judge the heat up, it's more challenging to use under the sun and is thus an indoor vape for me. The CXL is even more desktop-oriented with its capacity and WPA stem.)
Got me a M7XL + wand in the sales.
Been mostly using the wand as it's simple and silent.
Have mixed feelings. The flavour is not amazing, it could be better for me. The effect is definitely there however and I do seem to want to use it so there's definetly some big positives!
Thinking it might've been worth paying the extra for a woodwynd though?
Do the Ti M's improve on flavour?
This is the common wisdom but I will add the caveat that Ti tips are easy to push too hard and get a scorched flavor. The Stainless tips are more forgiving and easier to push, with the M7 at the top of the pile in terms of forgiveness and extended hits per heating.*
That said, the Woodwynd is really a terrific DV, different from the rest because of its open hit, I find the flavor good for a DV, but I don't think you'd experience a huge difference there. To me I find it less likely than most Ti tips to scorch, more even in its roast, capable of big hits, and just delightfully open, especially with a perforated cap. I think the Halo is more like an improved standard Ti bowl: better to heat harder with less scorching, thus better flavor, and it passes less heat to the stem. I do like the Helix tip better, partly for its airiness, partly for its more forgiving nature.
*I usually use a torch.
