Discontinued Purple-Days Vaporizer

I know, just no cash and for the repair price I could almost buy a new style Underdog. I have access to a lathe, but I would need to go get it and bring it here and set it up before I could turn something with it. Also, have not used a wood lathe in almost 30 years, 15 years since CNC lathe.

I just really miss the PD, nothing better than that grazing buzzz then melt into couch.

The UD would be a good substitute. I hear there's a holiday special going on......

Yes, but sort of broke from Holiday prep for kid. :( I don't even have cash for fresh greens, using ABV from when my PD was working, got about 1/2 oz of that.

Thanks let's hope... was all self done things. Moved to a nicer area being kid was about to start school and got a new job for less pay but better benefits for her as well. Worth it in the long run, but man it sucks making what I did 10 years ago. :(
It can be tough, I'm sure. Good that you are handling your responsibility though.

Thanks, having a kid changed everything. For the good of course, but also stress of stuff also but worth the stress. :)

Actually that's when I got into vaping. The Christmas after she was born my wife bought me an iolite. Then she got me the PD for Father's day from the kid when she was 2.

I was thinking about boring it out some and then maybe lining it with something to get it back up and running but its pretty burned. Maybe bore it out and put a 1" ID Stainless tube in and pour some concrete around it. Hmm.. I do have some small Maple logs back on the woodpile that are pretty dry wonder if I could bore one out and get 6 months out of it. Sorry.. baked typing right now so rambling.

Any piece of (non-treated) wood you can bore a 1" hole in will work for a simple body and get you back up and running. If you need a new resistor and/or power plug those are available and cheap. Hell I'd be happy to send you those for the cost of shipping just to get you back in action.

Thanks man!! I have a fairly new (2nd) power supply and I am pretty sure the resister is fine, no broken wires or anything. Would Cedar be bad? I have a bunch of that and don't burn it too often, not sure if it would give it flavor or if the resin is bad for lungs.

I think cedar would be fine (I've used it quite a few times) as long as it's dry enough. It'll char faster from the heat than denser woods but since you have a bunch you can just replace it whenever needed.

Maple it is then :) those are round the ceder is chunks from Really large logs smells a lot when burning but burns nice and hot.

Guess I need to go purchase a 1" drill bit. :)

Did a little repair on my PD and it seems to be working like new again.

Was gonna get one of these new logs, but now I'm not so sure I need one yet.

Can any one tell me how much they've improved since the PD and if it's worth it for me to get one ?

I love how the PD conserves my herb, btw !

I have a few underdogs and an HI right now and I would say in function when it's up to temp the PD will still hold it's own against 'em, and nothing conserves herb any better imho.

The newer logs have a quicker heat-up time from a cold start and most are much smaller and lighter than a PD now-a-days but a hot ready to go PD is hard to beat.

Still have to say I love having more than one log in rotation, different woods/sizes with different stems keep me happy.

:peace: ... ;pd; ...

@KidFated. could add a lot more since he seems to have laid aside his other logs for now and uses his PD more these days.

An Underdog would be a good replacement in my opinion. If the PD still works and you don't mind the heat up time, I would say you could probably wait until it dies for good. Underdog has a sale going on right now but they have them a few times a year so you can always catch one in the future!

I've actually been using the PD with the little Pinnacle water tube the last few days and it's been cranking out some pretty nice blasts.

it's funny though, just after that post I made before, now the PD doesn't seem to be getting as hot. I've been using the Solo pretty much exclusively for a while now, but decided to bust out the PD again last week because I felt like the Solo has been ripping thru herb too fast.

Anyway, now I remember how the heat levels would fluctuate for me with my PD. Was going back and forth between the UD and Nano (the Hi still has that waiting list to get one I'm assuming ?)

...I'm sure they're both good vapes, but I just pulled the plug on a maple burl nano and a 14mm gong (I do have water tools and the 14/18 adapter, btw)

How does the bowl size of the Nano compare with the UD ? I'm sure everything is pretty much bigger than the PD though.
