Hey everyone been a while since I've posted. I've been on a pretty long t-break but have been enjoying the Evo once again the past few days :D Quick question does anyone know where I can get a new power cord? My pup decided to chew into mine a bit lol

very confused about this latest massdrop ....

unfortunately I am in the camp of waiting for an International release which as im sure you guys know hasn't been all that fun, as far as I can tell these ones are available to ship to UK and Australia etc ...

I've been reading Stonemonkeys comments in the anticipation thread about how they feel that until they have ironed out all the issues (mainly safety concerns for it being a fire risk) and that this wont be released in either the UK or anywhere else Internationally.

Whereas the frustration of the continued delay is one thing, you cant argue with them that they making them safe for everybody but this Massdrop seems to compeltley contridict these sentiments!

Either they are dangerous and shouldn't be used in these countries or they are safe, which one is it Vapexhale?

Last time it was only the 110V version that was on massdrop.
Would make sense since the 220V is still in queue :)

vakedcow,
You know I was thinking. Maybe the software peeps pf VXL can work in a vxn clean off mode? One that turns the unit all the way up for a 2 min period or whatever(maybe we could user select this?) to clean off the vxn and then automatically returns the unit back to the original temp? I like to do a ELB then a dab out of the vxn but then I usually have to sit around and wait for the unit to clean so then I can turn it down(I have forgotten before so it's not like it matters just worried about possible over heating of the unit and for heater life). Maybe like a button we press? Idk maybe I'm high lol

Sounds like a great idea mark, I thought you didn't have a evo nail to dab out of ?

Anyone have any experience dealing with warranty claims?

I've had minor problems with my unit (e.g., it doesn't always switch on when I click the switch) since purchase. Recently, however, I suddenly started getting combustion at 2 o'clock. After some experimenting, I discovered the temp settings are now about 4 notches off (i.e., 10 o'clock now gets as hot as 2 o'clock).

I contacted warranty support and was told I probably have a cracked tube. I explained that I also have a problem with the switch, but that was ignored. The rep (Benjamin) told me to send in the unit and they will decide whether the broken tube is my fault or a manufacturing defect. If it's my fault, I will have to pay an unspecified repair fee.

Has anyone done this? Any idea how much it will cost and how long it will take? Has anyone successfully obtained a replacement unit, as opposed to a repair?

I have to be honest, I'm not pleased about having to send in my unit for repair. It feels like an attempt to avoid their responsibility under the warranty. I'm also not wild about having to spend more money just a few months after dropping several hundred dollars on the unit itself. But perhaps I'm being paranoid...

EDIT: Sorry, I should have searched the thread before posting. Looks like this is a common problem and they are on the level. However, any info on the repair process would still be welcome.

Just figured out a way of collecting the honey that accumulates at the bottom of the HTs. i cut a glass lemonade bottle (Hurbert's Lemonade) to the appropriate height to completely submerge the lower chamber completely with everclear where most of it accumulates. and right now im evaporating off the everclear.

Looking at how the glass bamboo breaks, they can determine whether it was a result of impact, or the heater being wrapped too tightly.

I knocked mine off the table once, and had to get it repaired (my fault obviously). The price earlier this year was $88 (including return shipping) to replace the bamboo. It took only a few days, think I had my EVO back in around a week?

No advice on your switch issue though. Definitely make sure to mention that again, maybe even write a note in the box when you send it.

Hope you get your EVO back in your hands quickly!

Has anyone noticed an improvement in the quartz vapexnails vs the regular ones? If so what improvements?

The glass nail I have to stop when the vapor gets thin or I get a burnt taste, but the quartz I can go all the way to clear it and it doesnt really taste burnt at all at the end if you have the heat low enough. Mine is around 11am.

Its less of a shotgun of a dab, presumably because its a thicker material it takes a bit more time to heat, this causes the dab to drag out a bit longer.

With the glass, concentrate tends to pool in a donut shape around the sides of the the flat bottom and not in the centre. This seems to cause a quicker boil, and adds to the shot gun effect.

The quartz are rounded at the bottom, it allows for all of the concentrate to pool together at the bottom and boil, that seems to drag it out too.

Here is the way I do it. I place a cork in the bottom of the HT, and pour a little Everclear in. I burb a little air out by removing the cork so that alcohol gets into the lower part. I place the HT in a glass mug and give some 5 second bursts in the microwave just to heat the alcohol. Shake glass, collect liquid for subsequent cleanings I have a little jar in which I keep my "reclaim" dissolved in 90% Everclear. This last batch I added to my coconut oil/AVB concoction so that my cookies are super couch-locky. I've re-vaped it, too.

I personally wouldn't want my product being sold in a country it wasnt designed to work in. That could create a negative backlash.

Good point .
Do we know if it's Massdrop's faux pas or SM55's to sell
to int'l buyers ?
I know they had to remove the Herbie sale b/c there would be No
warranty coverage , but only after we pressed them on it .

Int'l patrons should really get the answer first before purchasing .

Oh man, that sounds like a good idea too, i might try that method when my HT gets dirty again. but thats pretty smart reusing the everclear untill it has more than one batch of honey.

I just got my Evo back from being repaired. I had a runaway heater on a couple of occasions and it finally caused the glass to crack. I was warned I could be charged if they determined it was damaged and not defective, but I was not charged and it was returned to me very quickly as good as new. Im very happy with the quality of service.

Im not sure if I can drop $100 for two VXN's... I really want to get the quartz but at that price point its really difficult to justify the purchase. I could easily pay 20 per glass nail and 30 per quartz but anything higher than that is pretty expensive IMO.

If you are international and dying for an Evo I say just import a 110v model and get a step down transformer. I really don't expect anyone to get 220v models produced or shipped. It's been pretty long since their introduction IMO. Do people still have money tied up for 220v evos?

This is only good advice if you are a fan of very expensive paper weights. There's more to it that the voltage conversion unfortunately. I'd wait for VXL to figure out all the issues first.:2c:

:peace:

Ah, I was under the impression it just ran off 120v ac and could be run thru a step down like a nano could be,
